Whilst I feel very sorry for the Shalit family and of course Gilad himself his father must understand that the national security must be put above the life of Gilad or any other individual. Everyman has his price above which we will not pay beyond for their freedom because we must consider the security of the many above the individual. How would he feel if we released a killer for Gilads release and then that same terrorist went out and murdered another couple of Israelis, maybe one of Gilads best friends. What if motivated by their own release they went out and kidnapped another soldier? The suffering for the Shalit family ends but for another family it just begins. The Haiti operation was about nothing but sending doctors abroad no risk to anybody. Releasing killers for Gilad freedom puts the lives of every soldier and civilian at risk. The Shalit family should be informed of information on a need to know basis only and should have no political role to play. Noam Shalit should be asked to keep his mouth shut because it only encourages Hamas to put up their demands because they see public sympathy growing. As for Livni she is just looking for another chance to start making speeches again remind us all she is still there.
