Very strange that Mike Van Harris should support this provocation of agitators supported by the Turkish government. The purpose of the flotilla was obviously a confrontation - any school child knows that. Yet Mike Van Harris has nothing to say about the official Hamas government policy of war. This flotilla was in support of Hamas, and Hamas is on the record of being in favor of war, not peace. Hamas leaders still say they will "never" make peace with Israel, and their solution is "resistance", meaning war. So why is Mike Van Harris hiding behind the real terrorists and making silly accusations about "pirates", when the Israeli navy just attacked the real pirates?

This latest act of Turkish incitement, and the active support of the Turkish government for this anti-peace flotilla lights up red lights and waves red flags. Maybe it's time to rethink whether or not Turkey should belong to NATO. As well, this latest Turkish incitement shows that Turkey does not embrace the policies of the EU, but shows that it is closer to Iran than to the civilized world. If Turkey is so much in favor of instigating a new war, why is Israel currying favor with this country that is so obviously trying to sabotage the peace process?

what did the israelis think will happen? the boarded an unarmed ship in international water and they expect the people on board to just sit there and do nothing? the people on the ship were defending it.

Yes, one might feel that, the purpose was confrontation. But there was another purpose and that was Humanitarian Aid. By doing what it did, Israel escalated the level of confrontation and perhaps permanently damaged its relations with Turkey, which by the way is both regionally, economically, militarilily strong, and very important in terms of balance in the middle east. Turkey has economic social and political relations with both east and the west. Turkish Foreign ministry is experienced and does not engage in impulsive behavior. So do not expect a very very harsh defensive reaction. What is going on in here is that Israel keeps on damaging its relations with its neighbours, and is damaging its already damaged prestige in terms of International Law. We will see what is going to happen in the long run.

I wouldn't be surprised if Turkey severs all diplomatic ties at the end of this day, and tasks it's navy to protect the next aid flotillaa. As Turkey is a member of NATO that should prove interesting, either 31 May 2010 will be the beginning of the end of the Gaza siege, or the beginning of a war with Turkey. Certainly Israel through it's actions has driven Turkey even closer to Iran.
