Since Israel's right wing government took office it worked surprisingly quick to get where it is now. I just wonder how they are going to blame this one on the Left.

8. The following is from DebkaFiles:
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (05.31.10)
" And another question: The IDF is famous for its innovative electronic warfare capabilities. So why were the signals and images coming from the convoy not jammed as promised and allowed to reach world TV screens hours before the authorities responsible for Israeli information woke up? And finally, why did the interception take place 80 miles out to sea in international waters, thereby fueling the complaint that Israel broke international law? The blockade zone is 20 nautical miles deep from Gaza. An Israeli raid at that limit would have been easier to justify." -So,I guess what they mean is that the soldiers should have jammed communications at first to prevent israeli genocide being witnessed 1st hand by the world - Also, even debka acknowledges that the raid was in International waters.
9. Jewish occupation of Palestine is mother of all terror
S Miami ,   USA   (05.31.10)

11. CALM DOWN
ARMAN ,   ISTANBUL   (05.31.10)
SHALOM My ancestral origin is the Balkans (Greece, Bulgaria and Albania). I am not a Muslim and I have many Jewish/Armenian/Kurdish/etc. friends. Not all the Turkish citizens are against Israel. I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF ISRAELI ARMED FORCES AS PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS. Either I was proven wrong or it was a deliberate attack. They could have handled the situation better. Incapacitating the ships without getting into fight would have been a perfect example. Opening fire on an aid-ship in the middle of the night should not be the way of conquering the hearts of the millions which reminds us the Conquistadors, the Inquisition, the nazis and the september 6th. and 7th.that took place in Istanbul against the minority mainly targeted the Roums. People all over Turkey (thousands) are now protesting the great nation of Israel. Everyone should be calm. Advising citizens of Israel not travel to Turkey might be a way to protect them, but it is more important to invite more Turkish citizens to Israel to see that we are no different from each other. May TURKEY and ISRAEL live forever. For all the dead and wounded; "Baruch attah ADONAI Eloheinu melech ha'olam, DAYAN HA'EMET". SHALOM ve LEHITRAOT
12. Edrogan are you for real?????
Agent 007.5 ,   USA   (05.31.10)
1. Activists were warned not to cross into waters where Israel maintains sovereignty under the Oslo Accords 2. Israel has a right to search for weaponry and prohibited cargo 3. Activists were given the PEACEFUL option of unloading at Ashdod for land transport via formal channels into Gaza. They chose CONFRONTATION! 4. Gaza is well supplied with food/supplies. It is not starving. 5. Lucky for idiot activists, they are dealing with Israel. Try this moronic stunt with Russia, N. Korea, Egypt, etc 6. This was NOT a peaceful convoy, deadly force was used by activists 7. Edrogan, why did you encourage the activists by allowing Turkish ships/citizens to violate Israeli sovereignity? BLOOD IS ON ACTIVISTS' HANDS!
13. Your Trojan Horse Did Not Get Through
Armchair General ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.31.10)
Your Trojan Horse did not get through, Erdogan. No one was fooled.
14. It"s Easy

15. Erdogan
Samuel ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.31.10)
Look at who's talking of State Terrorism, the first terrorist and supporter of murder in his own country against Kurds: Erdogan!
16. Erdogan: Aid ship raid is Israeli state terrorism
Bill in AZ ,   Phoenix, USA   (05.31.10)
Oh please....like Turkey has room to talk. And, as a paraphrase on an old adage, "Stupidity is knowing that your actions will result in failure and proceeding anyway". It's clear that the 'flotilla' members were not "bringing the potato salad to the Mensa picnic".
17. Hmm.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.31.10)
I wonder how Erdogan would characterize the wanton murder of tens of thousands of innocent Kurdish men, women and children. Would that be state-sponsored terrorism? Or would that be genocide? Take your pick. If genocide, that makes twice for the Turks. Remember the Armenians? Who the hell is Erdogan to be criticizing Israel? Is he just pissed because Israel kicked his murderous ass to the curb? That would be my bet.
18. No. Hamas is a de facto occupying force in Gaza.
Steve ,   Atlanta USA   (05.31.10)
As usual, the Irish have it backasswards or their minister was drunk again.
19. International Law
Marty ,   USA   (05.31.10)
The claim by the supporters of Hamas and enemies of Israel, (which include these four "Israeli lawyers") that the seizure of the enemy flotilla was illegal under international law and, in particular, the U.N. Convention on the High Seas have no legal basis. First, Article 86 of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the High Seas specifically excludes from its application any portion of the sea that is "included in the exclusive economic zone, in the territorial sea or in the internal waters of a State..." This seizure took place within Israel's exclusive economic zone. Second, nothing in the 1982 Convention applies to war nor did it alter or amend long-standing international law doctrines in place since Roman Times, in particular, the law of contraband and the law of blockade. Under the 1854 Declaration of Paris, a blockade must be maintained by a force sufficient really to prevent access to the coast of the enemy. The Turkish demand that Israel allow the Hamas flotilla “free passage” to the Gaza port must be understood, in this context, as a demand that Israel give up its legitimate right to self-defense by imposing the blockade in the first place. Third, in time of war, any belligerent has the right to blockade the enemy and possesses the right to board and inspect any ship, neutral or otherwise, which seeking to run the blockade to determine whether there is contraband on board the ship. Such boarding may be done ANYWHERE, including on the high seas, as in the case where U. S. and other ships seized a North Korean freighter carrying SCUD missiles 600 miles off the coast of Yemen a few years back. Fourth, under Article 59 of the 1949 Geneva Convention, Israel has the right to inspect all “relief” shipments bound for Gaza to ensure that what is being transported is, in fact, “relief” supplies within the meaning of the Geneva Convention. Hamas declared war on Israel AFTER Israel voluntarily left Gaza. Israel has every right to blockade an enemy which has declared a war of annihilation against her. Israel’s offer to allow the flotilla to offload at Ashdod so that the cargo could be inspected and any legitimate “relief” supplies transshipped to Gaza was in full accord with the 1949 Geneva Convention, the law of blockade, the law of contraband and all other relevant international law. All claims to the contrary are the malicious and false propaganda of enemies of Israel which must be viewed in that light. Fifth, under the 1982 U.N. Convention, actions taken by military vessels and their crews can NEVER be considered piracy which is defined in the Convention as actions by private individuals for private gain. Therefore, if those on board the blockade running vessel engage in the use of force against the military forces boarding the ship, they are NOT lawfully defending their ships against piracy but are themselves engaging in piracy. Finally, let's not forget what this is really about. To understand what is really going on here see: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3896611,00.html
20. This was more a Turkish Story than a Palestinian one

With Turkish agendas
21. Israeli armed forces
Idil S. ,   Istanbul / Turkey   (05.31.10)
On the israelis side ,yes, Turkey seems like an islamist country nowadays because of its acts which i,as a turkish citizen never supported and saw as provocative acts. This flotilla was a total provocative act as well and there are quite a lot people in Turkey who think in the same way but about the last incident ; i've always thought of israeli armed forces as professional soldiers but i was proven wrong. They should have handled the situation better. The Israeli forces have done the worst thing they could ever do ; opening fire on an aid ship in the middle of the night. The last incident brought us nowhere, just shut the people like me up and distributed us to the sides.

24. Hey Erdogan did you hear about Cyprus
Peter Hansen ,   Denmark   (05.31.10)
an island you occupy with 40.000 soldiers. Hey Erdogan why don't you go away from Cyprus and give it back to their rightful owners : the Cypriots. Hey Erdogan please help the Cypriots : they are the new Palestinians of Europe. Help them!!! BTW do not bomb the kurds anymore, leave them alone and let them live: stop killing them. Hey Erdogan ? did you hear about the Armenians? one and ahalf million people you killed...should I go on?
25. #21 Erdogan is to blame
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.31.10)
Idil, you need to watch the vicious attack on the Israeli soldiers who boarded the ship. We can agree that this incident was a total provocation with government sponsorship from Erdogan. This resembles a gang rite of passage for Erdogan to carve his name and impress the Islamic World. This was planned in advance in collaboration with IHH, a global terror organization along with Hamas. Idil, I'm truly puzzled and disgusted by Erdogan's leadership in this provocation. It spotlights those acting to agitate the conflict.
26. 3 cheers for #11 ARMAN - the voice of reason in the mob
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (05.31.10)
Thank you, Arman, for your voice of reason. I've been to Turkey and was impressed by the hospitality of the Turks (ok, i was also annoyed by the hordes of kids trying to sell me "rolex" watches and the like), and by the fact that Turkey does indeed have diplomatic relations with Israel and has worked in the past to ease tensions and broker peace. I too am disappointed by Erdogan's incitement, and by his government's backing of this obviously phony flotilla. If Turkey was really concerned about the poor Palestinians, then they could easily have sent hundreds of tons of aid via normal channels. Instead, Erdogan chose to support Hamas with an obvious provocation. It was clear to everybody for the past several years that Israel would not allow the flotilla through. Yet the Turks persisted, despite their obvious incitement. Arman is correct - we have to bring more Turks to Israel to show them our country. Thanks, Arman, for speaking up in the talkback mob.
