1. nobody understands the issue:
lemmingland   (06.01.10)
Hanegbi does not understand the issue. Europe does not see a ship with hamas coming out of gaza to confront israelis, they see a large group of international protesters, including even members of the european parlament being harmed. Hanegbi does not understand the image of peace protesters in europe. No matter how violent in relality, the big majority admires them and they have a "romantic" and naive image in the eyes of the europeans. So in a way, they see us as killers of children and this will cause immense hazard of israels image for years
2. Oh my gracious
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.01.10)
How generous, considerate and compassionate of the IDF. All they had to do was sink the damn ship. Which is exactly what any other country would have done. I'm not all that concerned for the lives of terrorists and pretend humanitarians. Perhaps Israel needs to tighten its concerns. Although I am grateful for them. That's what makes Israel special and good. I wish the rest of the world would notice.
3. Joke
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (06.01.10)
..was rejected because the tow to the shore would be too long. There were also fears that those on the boats would be left without water or food.. You must be joking!! So you feared they'd be without water? Is that your problem? I mean..how stupid can one be?
4. The most moral army in the world couldn't
Joy   (06.01.10)
5. Hamas charter
Prof. Mel Alexenberg ,   Petah Tikva, Israel   (06.01.10)
The “Human Rightists” with clubs and knives sailed to Gaza in support of a “peace-loving people” who elected Hamas whose charter reads: “Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims…. Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I will assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill.”
6. Flotilla...
Bruria   (06.01.10)
Is it possible to tell which guns the bullets came from? Were the 2 pistols that were in the hand of the "activists" responsible for deaths? My guess is these nuts probably hit their own people in the mess...
7. Flotilla escapade
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (06.01.10)
Okay, now that we are going over all the facts and the strategies the forces used, we now have to improve upon the strategic maneuvers - because they are planning another flotilla and very soon.
8. TP NUMBER 2
2 ,   2   (06.01.10)
WHAT A FOOL YOU ARE ! I will not be surprised if our state goes down soon in the presence of fools and maniacs like you!!!
9. Your becoming very weak!!!! & defeated
camarrry ,   eu   (06.01.10)
i think Your army stinks! and becoming very weak. lost the two wars and couldnt implement a simple take over
10. I believe Israel did its best UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES
Alan ,   SA   (06.01.10)
Its easy to criticise but I think the VIDEOS show very clearly how things turned out . By going in softly softly ,2 soldiers are critically ill and others wounded!(I hope ALL get well soon!) The reaction in the world was pre organised. for the Public Holidays on Monday in some countries. It would have been the same whatever the outcome . I think Japanese Whalers should be asked to show how to use HIGH POWER WATER JETS . How can individual soldiers abseil one by one on to a deck where 500 hostiles are waiting??? And armed with PAINTBALL GUNS? Its a joke really!!!
11. Good news, Israel can't stop large crafts

13. CLOWNS RUNNING THE CIRCUS
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (06.01.10)
One has to be a real idiot to believe this rubbish. The world watched our elite soldiers getting their arses kicked by a bunch of thugs armed with clubs and knives, talking about deterrence. On the one hand the Israelis disengaged from Gaza, destroying their communities and then they expect the world to not claim this land, you can not have it both ways. With all their high tech toys the state of Israel blunders from one situation into another, showing weakness and indicision. All we hear is idle talk by media attention seeking clowns, who pretend they know what they are doing. The more these Zionists try to appease the world, the more hatred and isolation follows. The whole model based on a Zionist state, is rotting away to the core and only when this state is run by our own principles will it gain peace and ecceptance, the world hates fakers.
14. ***Sarah***, I agree with You, as always.
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.01.10)
15. Mine the dang coast already!
Naor ,   USA   (06.01.10)
Mine the coast of Gaza already for goodness sake! Then let any fool who wants to try and break the blockade then!
16. This could do more damage than Cast Lead or Goldstone
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.01.10)
World public opinion is very important for Israel both for economy and security. This could also put more pressure on Egypt to open its border then the blockade would be useless. What is the goal of the blockade? Is it to only stop weapons or is it to remove Hamas from power or punish Gaza for rocket attacks? Due to the tunnels Hamas has more weapons now and a stronger hold on power but the civilians in Gaza are paying the price for the blockade. I support the blockade but is it working for the right goals?
17. The whole picture
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.10)
Why did this situation end as it did? This was carefully orchestrated by the political foes of Israel. It is called a set-up. No matter what the IDF did, Israel would have ended up losing. This was a well organized political operation. It was well funded, carefully considered and coordinated. It was a highly sophisticated operation. Essentially a play. The players were the activists, the IDF, Israeli's a a people, the UN and others. The puppet masters, well, that is left to debate. But, this was an operation.
18. Hanegbi Talks Nonsense
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.01.10)
"... by stopping its engines was rejected because the tow to the shore would be too long. There were also fears that those on the boats would be left without water or food." 1. I cannot imagine that it would take more than a day or two to tow the boats to some nearby port or even to Ashdod. 2. Food and water could have been simply delivered to the passengers. Just drop it from the air. Bottom line - the whole operation was not thought through properly.
19. :: 8 - Fret not
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.01.10)
Don’t mind #2, she lost all credibility after it was discovered she was a fraud and a liar when she pretended to have lost a non-existent child to a terrorist attack. Chances are she is suffering from Münchausen syndrome, no excuse I know but there you go. On the bright side the vast majority of Jews and Israelis are totally unlike her as she and other Ynuts here only represent a tiny (but ugly) minority of rabid rightwing lunatics.
20. Gaza Flotilla
tony ,   houston,tx   (06.01.10)
Let us humanitarian ships to Turkey to help the Kurds and see how the Turks will react. And let us send flotilla ships to Chechneya and see how the Russians will react.....fair is fair....stop the Hypocricy...Erdogan is dreaming of being the new Ataturk and Jamal Abdulnasser of the Middle east. Just take care of your country and give the Kurds their rights you criminal......
21. #9 We don't need to.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (06.01.10)
Our enemies are too weak and incompetent to really cause any real damage. Besides 9 dead terrorists are more than I could've dreamed of.
22. THE REGIONAL BULLY

24. "Turkey's hostility is as strong as its friendship is valuab
Halit ,   istanbul/turkey   (06.01.10)
Everybody should consider these words in their every steps. They can convince their citizens about their lies or their slanders by showing knives and spoons from the inventory of the kitchen. But they cannot decieve all world.Every right minded people again saw and understood the purpose of Israel. In simplest terms, this is tantamount to banditry and piracy. It is murder conducted by a state. It has no excuses, no justification whatsoever. A nation state that follows this path has lost its legitimacy as a respectful member of the international community
25. The IDF is too delicate..
Ram ,   London   (06.01.10)
They did not wish to throw stunt grenades before boarding so they do not get accused of being heavy handed by the antisetes in the EU. Big mistake which led to an even more disastrous result. How they did not forecast the nature of the passengers after all the threats they heard from them is beyond me. If the next wave of ships defy the IDF then stunt grenates must be used. As far as the outcry in the world is concerned Israel must stand firm and tell it like it was: "the passengers asked for it".
26. Sarah # 2. Some of us do 'notice'. Long live Israel!
The 11th Man ,   London   (06.01.10)
27. Thanks Prof. #5
Resistor   (06.01.10)
I can read that over and over again!
28. Turkey
Joe ,   Gush, Israel   (06.01.10)
Will someone kindly explain why Turkey sponsored, orchestrated, and partially financed this provocation? They are not Arabs and do not have a record of financing and supporting terror groups. Erdeogan is crowing the loudest-why?
29. stop these flotillas in future but use diferent tactics
zionist forever   (06.01.10)
Next time there is one of these flotillas don't be drawn into their trap & use other methods. Wait till the ship gets closer to Gaza and then disable it. Do that and it can be towed to Israel easily and no soliders lives will have to be risked. If it needs to be disabled in international waters further from Gaza then tow them but airlift supplies to the passengers if there are shortages Use any practical tactics but we must not let this incident stop us from refusing to let these ships delivering their cargo.
30. #24 Are you posting without....
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (06.01.10)
....having seen the video footage of your countrymen, Halit?...beating the soldiers with iron bars as they rappel from the helicopter barehanded. Either way, Israel was perfectly within her rights to stop this flotilla, a provocation, may I add, with Turkish support.
