When one is running a blockade on land, one uses fixed emplacements, mines and other methods of ensuring people/vehicles don't run the blockade. I remember how when we attacked Iraq, we were so sure of what we were doing, we were so sure we were right and the rest of the world was wrong... Anyhow, I have watched two different versions of the video of the even an to be honest I can see a case for both sides of the argument. While I understand the need to defend themselves once on board, I am not as clear about why they needed to go aboard, nor am I so sure that the group is really a terrorist group, or that the people on board just wanted to cause trouble. I have trouble believing this because of what is known here in the US as spin, every government does it when something happens that is politically damaging to them. The truth is that we don't know what the truth is. People are dead and it is not clear they needed to be. Had the ship not been boarded, they most certainly would still be alive. I would find it easier to believe the 'spin' if there were more internal calls to find out what happened and if all the video had been released as well as all the journalists on board. Without transparency, it is hard for the rest of the world to believe. Sometimes if everyone else disagrees, perhaps it is time to do some critical self analysis?
