1. Turn this into a PR win, Israel
William ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
Show video, pictures, report from the convoy. Everything to highlight Israel involved in the transfer of the aid into Gaza. Steal away the PR thunder from the flotilla and keep it for Israel. Mention the aid is no different than what gets into Gaza anyway and that proper channels for aid shipments are available and should ALWAYS be used.
2. LOL. SarahB claimed that they had found WEAPONS in the cargo
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (06.01.10)
3. IF these medical supplies reach gaza on a daily basis
Jan M ,   Sweden   (06.01.10)
We wouldn't hear the death of many on the same daily basis. So it appears that the supplies that israel lets into gaza was not enough. You are trying to wash away what the world saw with their own eyes. Have you no shame??
4. medical equipment is not aid? but agree its PR stunt
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.01.10)
This was a PR stunt but IDF used very poor judgment in handling it, now its a PR nightmare in most the world. Some medical equipment is just as important as medicine for saving lives. What is the goal of the blockade? To stop weapons or remove Hamas from power or to punish Gaza people for rocket attacks?
5. Sisyphean labor
Baruch ,   Paris, France   (06.01.10)
"Nonetheless, we took in those ships and are engaging in Sisyphean labor," he said ??? Are you serious ? Is this what the port director said? What is he? Abba Eban's clone ?
6. Our PR
Noa   (06.01.10)
Europeans really believe there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza and people are in need of these goods. European media does not report on how many goods are being delivered into Gaza. But this is our own fault. We don't have to rely on old fashioned news ooutlets. Let a new generation run a PR campain!!!!!!!!
7. Israeli could have let this shipment pass without this
sami ,   Lebanon   (06.01.10)
this embarrassing fiasco. A new flotilla from Ireland is in its way ,be prepared for more fun to come . Israel lost the second Gaza war.
8. #1 sadly won't work
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.10)
You must understand the nature of this war. The foreign press has no need for facts, they will find an explanation for anything. They will say that Israel stole the good stuff or scattered it in the boats. You are not fighting people who want to reason, but people who think you are a subhuman who has no right to exist. Look at Goldstone: he said that the Jew has no legal right of self-defense.
9. Electric scooters are for taxis in tunnels, small and narrow
Alan ,   SA   (06.01.10)
10. Electric scooters? Motors needed by Hamas for tunnel-digging
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (06.01.10)
Electric scooters as Westerners use for handicapped are an unimagineaable luxury in every Arab country outside of Oil states. Hamas wants these extremely powerful electric motors and high capacity lithium battery packs for tunnel-digging machines. Keep them out and replace with 1000 ordinary wheelchairs. These are found in the West only because insurance pays for them. Give the electric ones to Sderot. And impound the ships until Turkey pays for the damage to Israelis and cost of the intercept, in accordance with international law. Smuggling tons of contraband cement to gaza puts these ships in same category as drug smugglers or the Karine-A. US would seize them in same circumstance, and does DAILY. And stop alologizing for "deaths" and instead LOUDLY denounce Turkey for organizing the smuggling ships with violent Jihadis aboard. Israel's PR efforts are a disgrace - THAT is what neds investigating.
11. I agree
observer   (06.01.10)
Israeli feel that any aid to Gaza civilians is provocative
12. At least When Israel sends medicine
Leah ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
it is in date and not expired and past its date.
13. Axes and Knives???? Compared to what? M-16s?
Rick Methven ,   Sweden   (06.01.10)
They weren't an international group of people trying to send aid to Gaza, they wanted to re-arm Hamas with axes and machetes. Gotcha, makes perfect sense.
14. I didn't know till this day that a box of medicine are weapo
Mark ,   Netherlands   (06.01.10)
Or electric scooters. Are these considered weapons in the state of israel??
15. #2 - they did. The knives, axes, etc.
William ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
Or did they just fall from the sky like manna from heaven?
16. #3 - the law of math contradicts you
William ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
You posted before that Israel only lets through 20% of what's needed there. If that is the case, in a short period of time, Gaza would run out of everything. That's basic mathematics. Yet, food stalls are full of food, hospitals have materials, UN warehouses are 50% or more full, and when ambulances aren't being stolen by Hamas they're used to bring wounded to hospitals. Those deaths you speak of are the extreme cases that no hospital is equipped for in Gaza. But Hamas also keeps many from leaving by withholding visas from them (political posturing against Fatah). At the end of the day, over 10K enter Israel for treatment, sometimes for free care. What did the world see with their own eyes, Jan? They saw a group of violent "peace activists" trying to lynch soldiers who had no weapons drawn. Were you watching another channel?
17. #4 - all of the above, and perfectly legal
William ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
Remember, it was Hamas that declared war on Israel and its citizens, not the other way around. The blockade is legal in real courts of law, not public opinion. Per law, Israel must admit only the bare minimum of aid to keep the population alive, not thriving. And one should ask - if weapons, cars, zoo animals are smuggled in so easily....where is all the medical supplies they need?? Busted!
18. #6 - find it odd since BBC, FT contradicted it
William ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
Both admitted there was no humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and neither of these papers are sympathetic to Israel. It just means the lie was too hard to hide anymore and they admitted the truth. However, to those narrow-minded Leftists who NEED to believe in something - it's just noise.
19. No.3, I am convinced that YOU should be
di   (06.01.10)
ashamed of yourself for posting lies and inciting comments. No one is dying on a daily basis in Gaza. THERE IS NO HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA. Period. Actually, Israel supplies Gaza with more foodstuff, petrol and medicine than all they get from the so-called peace loving countries. The real crisis in gaza is TERROR .That is, Hamas terror. Directed on a daily basis both against innocent Israelis and against their own people. Against Israelis by indiscriminately launching rockets into Israel and against the Gazan people by summary executions, by throwing people off house roofs and by constant tortures inside their dungeons. You, Jan of Sweden see everything with your blind eyes because once you have made up your mind, that's it, nothing will help. So, let me reiterate it to you and all those who see with their blind eyes. We will always stop cheap propagandists and sailing terrorists. NO MATTER WHAT. Israel is here to stay !
20. IDF blockade
Brent ,   Harrisonville, USA   (06.01.10)
Israel has an openly declared blockade on their own territory which has been defended in the past. What were these blockade runners thinking? That this was some game? Their blood is on their own heads--Idiots!
21. No.7. You bet we are, sami!
(06.01.10)
22. #3 death of many? you must be reading PROPAGANDA !!!
rachel ,   usa   (06.01.10)
BULLSHIT
23. Pondering ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.01.10)
"He added that some unusual items were also found, but refused to elaborate." What do you suppose that is?
24. #3- No, Jan, You are wrong! The medical supplies
Allan ,   Ft. Lauderdale   (06.01.10)
make it to Gaza. It's Hamas that prevents the distribution in order to create an artificial crisis so that Euro fools like you buy into the lies.
25. #13
roye ,   israel   (06.01.10)
no... because thay didnt bord with m-16!! thay borded with paintball rifles... and small sidearms for self diffence... stop sideing without hearing the two sides!!! i thout thay tout that in preschool
26. think abit
roye ,   israel   (06.01.10)
and the axes and machetes were for atacking borders... as thay did..
27. pathetic
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.01.10)
All the medicines they brought are out of date. How low can they get.
28. Freedom of speech - frequency jamming
RogerM ,   Stavanger, Norway   (06.01.10)
It is intersting to see that the armed fores in Israel is jamming emergency frequency, like channel 16. Even 1575.42, aka "GPS" was jammed in interntional waters. Not sure if the upcomming ITU conference will like those clear violations. When it comes to freedom of speech, Israel looks like a dictatorship-country. Blocking media is disgusting. The same thing is blocking satellite uplinks. I agree with Israel on a lot of issues, even when it comes to Gaza and the paletinian people. But I cannot acksept a de facto 70nm sea border, and jamming of mayday calls, or blocking freedom of speech in international waters. I do not think you have tought about the implications; should Israeli-flagged ships risk beeing arrested when crossing near a somewhat "hostile" country? Everyone can claim looking for weaponds, or terrorists. THIS IS INTERNATIONAL WATERS. A blockade inside 12nm is another matter. IDF have no difficulty enforcing whatever blockade it wants inside regognized sea-borders. Loosing the military and technical co-operation with Turkey will be really expensive. As you know, Turkey announced an emergency session in NATO due to it beeing under attack. This is NOT ALL ABOUT GAZA.
29. they can then charge UNRWA with huge demurrage fees
observer   (06.01.10)
after damaging the unloaded cargo in Ashdod, the usual stuff done by the thugs.
30. A pox on both your houses!
Mark ,   Vancouver, Canada   (06.02.10)
The world is sick of the both of you - Jew and Arab alike. You are both Semites - just cousins who despise each other. Arabs are Jews and Jews are Arabs and you live to argue and fight. In this case, both sides are wrong. The Turks and Palestinians put themselves in harm's way and threw the first blows. They could have gone via Israel with this stuff and this wouldn't have happened. They could have simply stopped, let themselves be boarded and interned, unloaded and returned to Turkey. The Israelis violated the Law of the Sea and overreacted. They could have put a destroyer in the way of the main vessel and forced it to stop ONCE inside Israeli waters. But NO! The world has to endure more Eastern Mediterranean posturing. Let the UN organize a nice, polite contingent of us dispassionate northerners, arm us to the teeth with nuclear weapons, then allow us to turn the entire Middle East to glass! Done. Solved. No more Jews. No more Arabs. No more Middle East conflict. Shame on you both!
