1. Israel will not get a fair hearing at the UN
Yehoshua ,   usa   (06.03.10)
I agree with the Netanyahu. The UN is made up of arab and anti Israel countries looking to get a good deal on oil. DON'T TRUST THE UN FOR A FAIR SHAKE!!

well, showing your ugly dirty faces by killing civilians is so bad but yet its more dangoures to leave your WMD in the hand of the rabbis that will distroy the world ... being jewish these days really suxs.
5. Of course it should be an internal probe.
Ypip ,   Canada   (06.03.10)
You may want to dig up what you can of a Mr. Burney. He is the director of Qatar-based Al-Fakhoora. This group is dedicated to promoting 'freedom of learning' for 'students' in Gaza and the 'West Bank' without going through the proper channels.
6. Nothing will come of nothing
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (06.03.10)
Good old Bibi - loads of fine words signifying absolutely nothing - nothing that would first of all change the status quo with him in the seat Prime Minister's seat. Then nothing to make him, his government or his army and navy accountable to us the nation when "things don't go according to plan" and lives are lost. Then nothing about resolving the Gaza situation at all. Just more of the same - for Sderot and other towns and villages in range of both home-made and supplied complete ground-to-ground missiles. Its all full on violence as the only answer to all our problems. You'd think we didn't have sophisticated subtle nuanced diplomats who can produce initiatives and solutions based on and backed up by our military strength. But wait! We may have those diplomats but we don't have a Foreign Minister or a Deputy Foreign Minister who fit that description. We have two 'polished statesmen' - Yvet and Danny- who have managed, since assuming their roles, to lose us friends at every turn, who stymie any PR effort proposed and who have made us pariahs and fools in the eyes of the world community we so desperately need as trading partners and supporters. And where are we the nation? We're too passive for anything other than the easiest option - to do nothing except say yes to whatever these apologies for leaders tell us. Democracy? Freedom of speech? Dynamic debate? Not us - any more.
7. Israel rejects int'l probe
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.03.10)
I should think so . Who is probing what is behind the Gazan flotila ? We don't need an internal probe either
8. well done netanyahu!
(06.03.10)
truth will prevail and those who seek harm to the jews will be punished by the hand of g-d. actual peace is the only way to be friends with the jewish people. anything else will be perish in our defense!
9. in principle Bibi is right in reality an inquiry is needed
zionist forever   (06.03.10)
There is no way this issue is ever going to be allowed to settle until the west get their independent inquiry. Nobody will remember the video evidence or anything else the only thing anybody will remember is 9 corpses. After Cast Lead Israel didn't make a case and let them hold their enquiry anyway and as a result we got Goldstone which is the most flawed investigation ever. At least this way if Israel cooperates then it can put across its side of the story. Interview the soldiers in hospital with stab wounds. Look at the humanitarian cargo which included bullet proof vests, gas masks & night vision binoculars. What Israel should instead try and push for investigators they can trust. So far the US has supported the blockade so get them on iit. Would be good for Obama to have Americans investigating because he is right now stuck between condemnation to support his muslim friends and the blockade which suits the pro Israel Americans who will be voting at the November midterms. Its also good for his peace process because he has Hamas as a scapegoat for everything and it suits Abbas to have Hamas holed up. So cooperate with this demand for an inquiry but try and control it as most as is possible to make sure it doesn't turn into another Goldstone. The worst that can happen is we will be told we are guilty of murder which is no different to whats happening now.
10. No democratic country's army was envolved, just pirates
Realist   (06.03.10)
11. #1 You're crazy or crazy, there is no other possibility :)
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.03.10)
12. Tell 'em all to go to hell!
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.03.10)
The fact is, there is a legally sanctioned, legitimate naval blockade enforced by Israel in an effort to protect its borders. No vessel can enter the area without permission - and all are subject to legal searches. As usual, Israel's actions are again the focus of outrage from the international community. From the U.N. to Turkey, from the Middle East to Europe, demands are being made for a prompt investigation and severe punishment of Israel. Enough is enough! It's time to stop criticizing and condemning a nation under assault. Self-defense is not an international crime.
13. Claiming democracy doesn't give free ticket to kill civilian
The Hague   (06.03.10)
14. INTERNATIONAL LAW AGREES WITH ISRAEL
Abu Mazal ,   Sydney, Australia   (06.03.10)
San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflict at Sea, which states that merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral states outside neutral waters can be intercepted if they ''are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture''. HENCE ISRAEL HAD EVERY RIGHT TO INTERCEPT FLOTILLA, PROTECT ITS SOLDIERS AND COUNTRY......
15. #3 Where have you been? Israel only country treated this way
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (06.03.10)
Phony Goldstone report, NPT agreement, humanitarian agreements, etc. Israel is the only country singled out for this treatment. Iran is under sanctions for breach of the NPT and still gets Israel accused while they are not mentioned. There is no authority around that will give Israel a fair hearing - they are all under the control of the Muslim majority that wants Israel destroyed.
16. The nation is with Bibi!!
Besalel ,   Great Neck, NY   (06.03.10)
Right now, we are all with Bibi. Al lof Israel is Likud for today. Bibi, stand tall. Show us and them that things have changed since the last time you were PM.
17. No Foreign particpants
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (06.03.10)
I am only for a inquiry on the intelligence failure that prevented the soldiers from going in with overwhelming force. Israel is not a puppet of the US there cannot be foreign observers. Is anyone going to observe inquiries against US forces targeted killing in Afghanistan? http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
18. The Hague (the Hag?)
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (06.03.10)
It does when said "civilians" threaten your own life, Dutch prig.
19. To #13: And not wearing uniforms doesn't make terrorists
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.03.10)
peaceloving civilians.
20. #11, your more CRAZY
Yehoshua ,   usa   (06.03.10)
When you call someone a name you show the weakness of your case!!!
21. Helsinki
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.03.10)
Principles on the Law of Maritime Neutrality agree with Israel. Merchant ships flying the flag of a neutral State may be attacked if they are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or BREACHING A BLOCKADE & after prior warning they intentionally & clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally & clearly resist, visit, search, capture or diversion.
22. May want to subcontract next mission to Somali pirates
Seebear   (06.03.10)
to avoid risk of investigation.
23. love you bibi.....
Dana Rothschild ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.03.10)
bring our pride back!!!!
24. #4 Libyan Guy - Don't knock it.
Dr.Strangelove ,   Los Alamos   (06.03.10)
You have to stop being so negative about destroying the world with WMD. And since Israel would start off with the Arabs, you won't have to go through the pain in the neck stuff like nuclear winter. See, don't you feel better already?
25. Israel above law?
A ,   UK   (06.03.10)
Israel continues to set itself above the law yet again. This time it was attacking ships in international (!) waters calling the people of over 40 nations including dozens of politicians (e.g. 2 german parliamentarians), a peace nobel laureate, US colonel etc. terrorists with ties to e.g. al qaida. Previously it illegally used passports of various "allied" nations (e.g. UK, Germany, France) to assassinate people in Dubai or illegally kidnapped a person in Italy. Or just think about the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Israel neither signs nor allows inspections but got a "special" treatment:.
26. Best cartoon on the raid
vivifiant ,   Cleveland, Ohio   (06.03.10)
This cartoon in my hometown news paper really sums the raid up well, don't you think? http://media.cleveland.com/darcy/photo/03ggjeffdarcyjpg-75430725c0f73c20.jpg
27. What Has Israel Got To Hide?
World Citizen ,   the world   (06.03.10)
If Israel did nothing wrong then why refuse an internationally led investigation? The fact of the matter is your country attacked a ship in international waters. By definition and international law that is defined as an act of piracy. The people on that ship had every right to resist your attack. And they did it with sticks and kitchen knives according to your own press. So you shot them down. The American killed had one shot in the chest and four shots to the head. Lebanon 2, Gaza and now this. Something is wrong with you people.
28. First Smart Decision about the Whole Affair
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (06.03.10)
After all of the flawed decisions made by the Isreali political and military leadership regarding this tragedy, this is the first smart decision that Israel has made. Had the investigation used honest, neurtral and respected people from the international community, the investigation would have uncovered the truth. Blocking international involvement will allow the investigation to find whatever the Israel P.R. experts tell them they should find. Thus avoiding the truth. Of course, no one will believe them other than the citizens of Israel and maybe Obama and maybe some of the Dispora. But still it avoids the truth.
29. THIS IS WHAT SHARON WOULD HAVE DONE
meir elazar   (06.03.10)
Sharon was a brilliant strategist who did not let the enemy set up a trap and then stupidly fall in to it. In Jenin the streets were booby trapped so he blew holes from one apartment to the next to perform the "cleanup" and minimized danger to soldiers. While Olmert would have done the French thing and surrendered to the terrorist while they were still in international waters, Bibi authorized the stoppage of the flotilla but with poor planning and execution. They played right into the hands of the terrorists and immediately released all the activists. THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE SHOULD BE WHAT WOULD SHARON DO? Sharon would have sent a large force to stop the Flotilla, issue warnings and warning shots, and wait for the Activists to start the Hostility while fully documenting it. After taking over the ships and activists, Sharon would have clarified what the Blockage's Mission is by not releasing the Activists until Shalit was released. This would buy time for them to fully search the ships and uncover all of the illegal weapons and missile that they were smuggling (eg see Karin-A, UN arms smuggling incidents, Sudan convoy, etc). With the conditions of release told to the world, the focus would now shift to HAMAS as the release of all the Activists was in their hands and all they had to do was release ONE PRISONER WHO WAS KIDNAPPED IN A VIOLENT ASSAULT. Very simple. The onus is on HAMAS and Shalit becomes the key to resolving the entire mess. Shalit and Terror are now the main issue before the world and they have no legitimate answer or defense. This further would demonstrate whether HAMAS cares about those activists who in the naievity and stupidity go out to defend the Terrorists of Gaza and their supporters. For HAMAS these activists and everyone else is expendible. They simple don't give a damn. Their Charter uncompromisingly calls for the Destruction of Israel and the Murder of all Jews and Israelis. Nothing else is important including these activists and their freedom. Maybe with the next ship "Rachel Corrie" (may she be cursed and rot in Hell) Bibi might think of Sharon (and possibly get a copy of this post or similary ones) and do it the way Sharon would.
30. #26 - are you kidding me?
kapriza ,   usa   (06.03.10)
Are you totally ignoring the facts in this incident? Or just the parts that show a reality different from what you want to believe?
