31. Turkey / Israel
Mike ,   Chicago   (06.04.10)
Turkey's semi-fundamentalist government has been looking for years for an excuse to cut back ties with Israel. This comes as no surprise. Israel should suspend all military sales to Turkey. Why take a chance that Ankara might give Israel's enemies access to advanced Israeli technology.
32. Give the Kurds the Drones
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (06.04.10)
Give the Kurds the Drones they would know how to use them. The Turks would only give the know how to Iran and our enemies anyway. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
33. Sever relations with Turkey
Brod ,   USA   (06.04.10)
Israel should sever its relations with Turkey that is now in bed with Israel's enemies who are hellbent on the destruction of the State of Israel. So long as Turkey is governed by Islamist-Jihadists, its pathway is similar to Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas!
34. Facing the Consequences?
(06.04.10)
Speaking about "facing the consequences of one's actions," Erdogan and his IHH compatriots, who organized and funded the Flotilla, are just as responsible as the terrorist attackers on the Marmara, for the tragic events that occurred at sea. Erdogan, like Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria, is more interested in Ahmadinejahd's approval, and bolstering his own power in the region, than in achieving peaceful coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis.
35. They never sold water to Israel
yellowbiz ,   ariel, IL   (06.04.10)
The plan was put on hold in 2006, no water was sold to Israel, it was reported that it would be sold to Libya "instead". So, I guess you ran out of bargaining chips to use.

38. Turkey
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah. IL   (06.04.10)
We have to keep cool. It was a foregone conclusion before any commando set foot on the 'Mavi Mamara' that all the traditional foes of Israel and the Jewish people would condemn the IDF action. The proportion of the response of the Turkish government comes as no surprise. The Turks were so deep into organizing the whole 'break the blockade' attempt by providing both the main ship and many of the 'peace activists' that it is no wonder they turn on Israel as if Israel was to blame. The present Turkish government is very dangerous and extreme and Israel would do better to keep its distance. I feel sorry for any country in the EU that might even consider Turkey as a future, viable, stable member of the Community. We in Israel cannot change the world, but we must stand by our principles and our rights. If one is in any doubt about Turkey, then I would advise reading a little history going back about 150 to 200 years and then you will understand the true meaning of the Turkish threat to Israel and Europe. For the next two years we are on our own because we will not have a committed US president to support us as in the past. If we understand all this, support our government and the IDF we will see this crisis through. As for Turkey they might just be doing us a big favor by cutting back on their relations with Israel.
39. Agree with Turkey
Manu ,   USA   (06.04.10)
And Turkey may be the first, it certainly won't be the last. Its time to hold Israel accountable for EVERY action. Inaction is not an option.
40. #1- Turkish Foreign Policy is not based on individuals!
Ibrahim ,   Ankara, Turkey   (06.05.10)
(1) There is no indication from public polls that the AKP will loose the upcoming elections. (2) Even if it does, the majority of the Foreign policy decisions made under PM Erdogans reign are decisions of the National Security Council and hence unreversable my mere political will. They are now State politics. (3) Foreign Minister Professor Ahmet Davutoglu is a former Land Forces Military Academy Professor and is also highly influential within the Turkish military establishment. His policies are widely accepted. (4) The world must accept that due to the EU and the Wests rejection of Turkey, Turkey has now assumed it's historical role as a powerhouse in the Middle East, Balkans and Central Asia. It is an Economic power ($1 trillion+ GDP-PPP) and Military -Nuclear power by proxy (Pakistani and US Nuclear warheads). It also possess the historical soft power it requires to exert influence in the region. These are realities which wishful thinking and turning a blind eye will not negate.

Barney ,   USA   (06.05.10)
you would be much better off visiting a progressive country like Israel where the people are friendly, productive, enjoy the arts, like Americans and so on- that is unless you are into the oppressive islam thing. make sure your women have their heads covered. As for Israel selling military technology to turkey i would only be for it if it had double agent spy technology or remote destruct buttons in the likely event it would end up in enemy hands. This latest public relations catastrophe is like one poster said, a blame the Jews and Israel distraction so our own people don't realize how screwed up our govt and lives are. The people in gaza aren't hurting for goods-they are hurting for freedom from their own rulers. don't believe it? take your family to gaza, say something bad about hamas, and then enjoy your flight off of a roof.
43. erdogan

44. Almadinajad, Erdogan and Assad
Max ,   Washington DC   (06.05.10)
Erdogan is threatening Israel, America and the Free World by supporting Iran's quest for nuclear weapons and allying with Assad as well. He could lead the World to a Nuclear Holocaust if he continues his threats with military actions.
45. Lets us just stop apologizing!!!!

47. #29 Turkey receives 30 million tourists every year :)
(06.05.10)
You don't need to worry about Turkish tourism, it's doing well with 30 million tourists a year. Turkey doesn't need towel stealer, noisy, rude arsim Israelis. Although, there are also few educated, kind Israelis too, but still most Israeli tourists behave terribly abroad. You need to worry about where Israelis can go. Greece is not really in love with you either, see the anti-Israeli protests there? Italy, Spain, France are too expensive for kamtsan Israelis. Perhaps, you'll head to Sinai or Jordan :)
48. turkey

remind them of killing the kurds and the massacer of the armeniens anyhow the ralations betwen israel and turkey are at an end
49. Money Money Money
Richard ,   Botswana   (06.05.10)
Turkey, before you make any wrong moves please remember that an Economy, through the multiplier effect works in both ways. Supply & Demand. The Israeli tourists in Turkey are not so important (only a few 100's of millions a year) the bigger issue is R&D, Machines and industry. Dont forget that American public opinion blames Turkey for agravating the sitution. The last thing needed by Turkey is American public stoping support for Turkey and its economy. In Botswana i own a large window manufacturing factory, using Turkish machines. I must admit, that my next purchase will not be a Turkish one. for i canot buy any goods from a country so filled with hate... that the normal citizin on the street only talks about death to israel, that its not even nice to deal them anymore... this sentiment is widespread throught Southern Africa where so much Business and Industry is owned by and controlled by Jews and othe "white" Afrikaaners who are very supportive of Israel. Turkey HAS to do the mathes now... because it is not only the Americans that are going to take a step back from them. I was in Turkey again this April, and feel very sorry for my suppliers, who will eventually lose my business as well.
50. Erdogan has a short memory.
mose ,   israel   (06.05.10)
Following the 1999 Izmit earthquake in Turkey, Israel sent a 250-member disaster relief team to the affected areas. Israel also established a field hospital comprising two hospital wards for adults and children, an isolation room, an operating room, an x-ray laboratory, two clinics and medical equipment. The Israeli government and public provided 75 tons of supplies. He is now about to lose a friendly and valuable neighbor.
51. Turkiye
Ron ,   New Amsterdam   (06.05.10)
Once Turkey was an empire and important. They lost it. Then Attaturk came and built from the remainings a modern country. Reliable, respected and free. Now we see Erdogan trying to rebuild a non democratic state faced to the 7th century andbased on lies. The result of all this is a country back to the day were it was unreliable and weak. As a Turk i would try 2escape or do go 4 a change .
52. turkish boycott
avi ,   haifa   (06.05.10)
after seeing turkey's new flirt with the iranian mukkahs and extremists and by sponsoring thug boats to gaza and now the boycotting of israeli goods, we decided to demand the removal of turkish goods from our supermarkets. in other stores items produced or assembled in turkey have to be labeled as such. this will increase the cost of living but make onky sense. the arms industry should by government decree refrain from selling turkey drones and other ordered goods. no more upgrade of planes e.t.c.. roundletters by e-mail have been sent to jewish communuties abroad to boycott turkish restaurants and fast food as well as turkish goods. even so this will not destroy the turkish economy it will be a reminder that the jewish people and not just that part in Israel have had erdogan' s caprices

This is an unexpected bonus. No more of those dreadful loud and rude tourists from Israel. We don't have to mix with those apartheid supporters. Turkey will have many more European visitors because of this
55. When Israel entered bilateral commecial
Vardina   (06.05.10)
an military agreements with Turkey she was not aware of the fact that Turkey would soon become a Muslim terrorists state, supporting Iranian, Syrian and Hamas terror . At this stage we shoud be grateful for cutting off relation with this terrorist Turkish regime hated by more that half of Turkey's population.
56. #24: We have our own construction companies
Vardina   (06.05.10)
and do not need to support Turkish economy.
57. #50: I have always been of the opinion that
Vardina   (06.05.10)
we should never invest a single penny in or assist Muslim states. There will never be more than a frozen armistice with them and that's it! Only a stupid leadership could trust Turkey and pass to her military technology that will sooner or later be turned against us. Some never learn! Humanitarian aid too is a waste of time .
58. One word: International Waters and 9 civilians Killed!

Ibrahim ! You seem to forget, the EU and the USA made you a power house, by buying your products and sending you tourists, once you become a member of the Muslim brothrehood, you will be kicked out from NATO and the cash flow from the infidels will stop,Kamal Ataturk tried to instill reason in the Turkish people, but in the struggle between reason and emotions,in some societies emotions always win.
