There is a big difference, and a bit more credibility/professionalism with the title of "Humanitarian aid worker". The activists opened fire first, they attacked first, they lost their right to be called "civilians" at that point. They got what they deserved, and no one can defend the actions of these violent "activists" especially after seeing the contraband they were hauling those ships.

Humanitarian aid workers amongst terrorists armed with heavy chains, metal bars, sling shots etc. They were being used as a cover. The ships were requested to sail to Ashdod so that their cargo could be checked and from there given the OK to enter Gaza.

Israel has the right to intercept any ship it sees as a threat. All nations do. What I find sad though is that Israel fell for such an obvious ploy. It appears that Israeli actions are now predictable to its enemies. Not good.
