1. Arrogance of Office
ben yaacov ,   herzlia il   (06.06.10)
Across the board Israeli's are appalled by the poor performance of the ministers. Newsflash we live in a digital world with a 24 hour news cycle. Israel should have immediately posted footage of the mob attack to pre-empt the storm of criticism that started with news of casualties. News services would have been broadcasting the mob footage instead of the Turkish footage. Local media around the world wanted an instant reaction from Political leaders. Had the mob footage been airing many would have been more cautious and not condemned
2. This IMBECILE will further downgrade israel
Tim ,   US   (06.06.10)
3. Good job Avigdor
Frank ,   Canada   (06.06.10)
Keep going and ignore these Leftist loonies. Israel must ask an investigation of the Turkish provocation instead of bowing to these scums.
4. just look at the pictures
just want to comment   (06.06.10)
only cowards cover their faces, you dirty terrorists
5. WRONG!
(06.06.10)
You see, it's all wrong - again. Loser politians are clueless. They give us back our boy in exchange for a PARTIAL lift of 'seige'
6. Kol Hakavod
James B ,   Herzeliya   (06.06.10)
Lieberman just shut livni up for good and made a fool of her and Kadima.
7. you can take the neo - stalinist. out of russia
avramele   (06.06.10)
But you can't take the Stalinist out of Lieberman - a fascist abd a thug in every shape, substance and form
8. Frightening. Israel will Allow weapons of WAR into Gaza in
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.06.10)
exchange for some Red Cross visits? What a nightmare from hell. Why does Israel want to help terrorists? Why does Israel seek to empower global jihad? G-D help Israel.
9. Lift ban for Shalit
Noa   (06.06.10)
why for visits? The ban should be lifted for Shalit's return, and I think all the world can subscribe to that. We should start a campain to that end AT ONCE!
10. The rhetoric of dictatorship & genocide
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (06.06.10)
This kind of dangerous rhetoric became prevalent as Yugoslavia disintegrated. Forceful and threatening language to silence the opposition, singling out of minorities with racist language and the inculcation of foreign threat and paranoia of invasion. Liberman is a dangerous man. The most dangerous man Israeli politics has ever known. He must be ousted or he'll bring ruin on us all.
11. Lieberman best performer by far.
Scott   (06.06.10)
I see people calling him this or that - but sorry, unfortunately, love him or hate him - he's the best performer around the Israeli government right now. And those that disagree with his comments - well, most of us right-leaning people would disagree with whatever you say too.
12. The man is a genius
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.06.10)
All the detractors don't understand. Hamas will never allow visits to Shalit, either because they killed him or because they know that Israel will be able to trace him and release him. This minimal request is the one thing that might put the ball in Hamas' court. And Lieberman puts anti-Israelis on the defensive. The Israeli Arabs must make a choice. If they think Israel is an apartheid state and they support Hamas and Hezbolla, they should be happy to join a new Arab country rather then stay oppressed in Israel. As for Kadima and Labor, if their aim is really to maintain a Jewish Israel, they should follow Lieberman who offers the Israeli-Arabs their dream to join the new Arab state without having to ethnically cleans hundreds of thousands of Jews.
13. Failed hasbara
mea   (06.06.10)
The fact is no one in the government can reasonable deny responsibility for the utter failing of hasbara about the flotilla raid. As Yair Lapid put it very well, it is inexcusable that people were not IN PLACE in front of cameras AS the flotillas was ceased. That the other side WAS in place and took full advantage of that just goes to show again that until Israel makes the mental leap to grasp that they MUST get on board and work hard on hasbara, the world will continue to have nothing but the words of our enemies to form opinions on. I find it appalling that all these days later Lieberman finally gets words out--to defend himself, but where was he when the damned thing was un folding? Figure it the hell out Israel! You MUST be IN FRONT OF THE DAMNED CAMERAS a-s THE EVENT UNFOLDS!!! NOT AFTER, NOT THREE DAYS LATER WHEN NO WESTERN PAPER WILL CARRY IT!!!! How the hell Israel can achieve so much and be unable to accomplish hasbara is beyond me and like thousands of supporters I am absolutely frustrated with the failng after failing in hasbara. Honestly anymore I believe this should be handled by Americans who understand media. Israel does not. Having a perceived racist issue a defensive call down and blame game four days after an event doesn't cut it!
14. #1 - It takes time to carefully edit video
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (06.06.10)
The political leaders couldn't have released the video footage quickly. They had to first review all the footage and saw it told a story they did not like. So they then had to carefully select bits and pieces and splice together a video that told the story that Israel was trying to pin. All unedited footage has NOT been released.
15. Oy vey
David ,   Haifa   (06.06.10)
Lieberman is probably right when he says that Mr Ayalon is one of the best persons he has. That explains the situation that we are in now. And for his information, he is absolutely unsuitable for his job, unlike his predecessor. But of course, the fact that our position and image has never been so problematic is everyone's fault (the world, the UN, the US, the EU, Israel's opposition, you name it) but his. So what if that position and image are his main responsibility?
16. to #4: only cowards cover their faces...
oscar ,   buenos aires   (06.06.10)
Israel navy commands cover their faces too. So?
17. It´s very shocking to see that Israelis accept him as FM
michael ,   sao paulo   (06.06.10)
18. Kadima and Lieberman
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (06.06.10)
Livni and Kadima are working for Obama afterall that was one of Obama demands to include Livni in Government. Releaseing the blockaid of Gaza is stupid for visits why not a release and a pledge not to attack Israel? In any case why are we duty bound to give Gaza anything anyway. We are not occupying them why do we have to give them electricity water etc. Force them to go through Egypt. http://israelprotect.blogspot.com
19. Right wing needs to getr as dirty asd the Left wing- quit
g ,   nyc us   (06.06.10)
being the honorabler idiot while the left runs political circles around you. fight them on their level.
20. Leiberman : A wonderfully rational man.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (06.06.10)
21. Can these really be Lieberman's words?
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.06.10)
I am a member of and worked for Yisrael Beiteinu during the last election. Is he really saying that we should open up Gaza in return for Red Cross visits to Gilad Shalit? Why isn't he demanding that Shalit be freed and why this sudden turnabout? I'm sure he's being misquoted or being taken out of context. This is not the "Avigdor Lieberman" whom I know and admire.
22. #14, ah the new lie
Danny   (06.06.10)
I wondered how the "activists" were going to deal with having video footage contradicting their claims. Is this like the hidden bodies taken from Jenin?
23. #1, what difference would it have made?
Danny   (06.06.10)
The turkish footage clearly shows the original soldiers landing with paintball guns. Did that stop anyone claiming they were real? Or that "heavily armed" commandos landed?
24. He doesnt say to lift the blockade
moishe ,   usa   (06.06.10)
only land crossings, where everything is inspected anyways. Way to go. The leftist "social justice" crowd cannot disagree with the red cross, can they? Oh yeah shalit is a jew so he has no rights to the jew haters and antisemites.
25. Shape up or ship out. Recognise one thing...you are
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.07.10)
on the world stage, like it or not. You can't remain in your incompetent comfort zone forever looking after yourselves instead of the country. That goes for Livni too, who is incompetence personified. I don't know why she does not go home. Look at the rubbish you are holding up to the media now. This whole unsavoury discourse is proof that you are all lacking - that you did not do your homework well. If you did, you would not be fighting each other now, just like Lebanon 2. Same old - you did not know the enemy. How unprofessional. What is the problem? You never heard of a check-list? Where was the media build up to the event? What effort was made to educate the public about the legal standing of the blockade, the reason for the blockade, procedures available for dealing with blockade busters. Why weren't your diplomatic efforts highlighted before the ship arrived? What have you gained from the secrecy? You did not spend any time dealing with all those important things and now you have endless time to quarrel. This is NONSENSE.
26. #25.HARRY - WHEN DID THE "FOREIGN MEDIA" CARE ABOUT TRUTH ?
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (06.07.10)
FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS OR SO, THE FOREIGN MEDIA HAS ALWAYS REPORTED THE ISRAELI " ATTACK RETALIATIONS " FIRST , AND THEN WOULD OFFER THE CAUSE OR REASONS IN A VERY " UN-IMPORTANT " SORT OF MANNER. THE MEDIA WANTS FRONT PAGE EXCITEMENT, THEY WANT TO SEE THAT THE " MAN BITES DOG " TYPE OF SCREAMING HEADLINES. THE TRUTH UNFORTUNATELY TAKES A BACK SEAT TO SENSATIONALISM IN REPORTING. IT'S JUST BEEN THIS WAY FOR SO LONG NOW, IT'S ALMOST AN INCURABLE ADDICTION. AND THE THE ANTI-ISRAEL REPORTING WILL NOT CHANGE FOR THE FACTS OR THE TRUTH, SO WE CANNOT REALLY BLAME ISRAEL FOR LACK OF P.R. .............. THIS P.R. ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE ISRAEL WON THE SIX DAY WAR IN 1967. AFTER THIS ISRAELI VICTORY, ISRAEL BECAME " TOO " POWERFUL FOR THE WORLD TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH.
27. Lieberman is the one who predicted correcly
natasha ,   israel   (06.08.10)
Unlike all primitivski who think that strategic decisions are sporadic and personal Lieberman was the first who understood why Turkey decided to ally with Iran and Syria. Or maybe not -the first one was Samuel Huntington 15 years back. Its geopolitics, stupid
