I would describe Jerusalem as a city that provides a home to the three major religions of the world -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam. But that does not make it an international city. It is not an international city. It is the eternal and undivided capital city of the State of Israel. Israel being a democracy, all persons are permitted to worship freely in Jerusalem. This was not the case between 1948 and 1967, when Jordan maintained control. Israel goes to extraordinary expense to maintain all the religious sites, and to provide protection for religious pilgrims of all faiths, particularly during holidays, when Palestinian terrorists would like nothing more than to produce a great heap of non-Jewish bodies. Please keep that in mind. Jerusalem belongs to Israel. But all who come in peace and fellowship are welcome. What a NICE change from the last thousand years or so.
