Mark ,   usa   (06.08.10)
We have enogh, we do not need Russian gas, thanks but no thanks but we need Turkish frienship as they always were our friend, Likud must go
2. russian gas line...
e l pratt ,   atlanta USA   (06.08.10)
Turkey and Russia are becoming partners in the natural gas industry--they will not welcome a rival in the form of Israel and its newly found Leviathan NG field off the coast of Haifa--the very existance of that field is a provocation for war.
3. Seeing comrade Putins pic always gives me russian gas.
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.10)
4. Israel is undermining Lebonan and found lebonanese gaz
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (06.08.10)
No Gaz to Israel for whatsoever circumstances
5. to #4
Arul   (06.09.10)
All the while no one cared to do anything, when Israel explored and found gas, it becomes Lebanese gas !! what a pity. You guys want to have a free ride with out any effort.
6. Not every decision is political
Josh S ,   USA   (06.09.10)
Israel just discovered it has plenty of its own natural gas. Even if the Turks loved us, they wouldn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars building a pipeline that will never be used.
7. PUTIN is a good leader and a good man
Israeli 2   (06.09.10)
He identifies himself with Israelis much moreso than with any other nationality besides Russia. He is a Sabra.
8. #1, Mark........keep on DREAMING!
Israeli 2   (06.09.10)
9. #4: Just sit, watch and bite your nails
Vardina   (06.09.10)
10. #7 you are an idiot
David ,   Chicago, USA   (06.09.10)
Saying Putin is a good leader and a good man is a strech of the imagination; saying hes good for israelis is plain ignorance, how is a man who clearly supports iran, iran's nuclear program, syria, turkey, and bashes israel over military action good for israel?
11. #3 GREAT talkback, VERY FUNNY, thanks
Robert ,   USA   (06.09.10)
12. Comments on this boards are crazy
Ronald ,   Bk, NY   (06.09.10)
This is a pure economic move. Why invest Billions of Dollars in a pipe line when Israel just found there own Natural Gas which is slated for production in 2013. Everyone here makes everything into a Muslim vrs. Jewish thing all the time. P.S. This isn't Lebanese Gas, Why would Israeli companies invest into exploration in the waters of Lebanon only to know the Lebanon would take it from them. You people are crazy, Israel is a economic superpower because they are Business smart and no Israeli Business man would do that
13. we dont need it and its politically dangerous
zionist forever   (06.09.10)
Israel has already discovered in its own water enough gas to last to supply it for the next 20-30 years. There are also hopeful another field is going to also have a large reserve at least as big as this one so we don't need Russian gas. Its also a bad idea to use Russian gas because once your connected up to a pipeline its easier for Russia to bully you into accepting higher prices whenever they chose. Russia has also cut off the supplies to some of its neighbors before over unpaid bills. Then there is the politics can we risk Russia switching off the tap when they are angry at Israel? Putin keep your gas we dont need you anymore.
14. Tons of Gas off Haifa don't need Russia
Sharona ,   Jerusalem   (06.09.10)
Send your gas elsewhere. We have our own.
15. #4 Tayfun - thanks for all the great laughter over the years
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (06.09.10)
16. When idiots can't read a map...
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (06.09.10)
How dense can you be? Any pipeline from either Turkey or Russia has to go through countries whuch have no reason to accede to the idea. Mainly Lebanon and Syria. As to the wonderful gas 'found' in the Mediterranean, the boundaries will have to be mapped and some agreement between Lebanon and Israel will have to be made. Also, the time lag of about ten years will have to occur between drilling, production and transport.
17. to #5 regarding #4
Norman ,   Philippines   (06.10.10)
Just like the Moslems here in Mindanao, Philippines. They do nothing to develop their grasslands. Christians came and the rest is history. Moslem "rebels" then claim the lands owned by Christians were illegally acquired from their forefathers (commonly referred to as land grabbing) hence they (moslems) have every right to take it back by force if necessary.
18. There is an oversupply of N. gas in the world today.
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (06.10.10)
19. To #12
Roger ,   USA   (06.10.10)
Israel is an economic superpower Ronald? I guess that is possible if your definition of superpower is drastically different from everyone else's. You see Ronald, if Israel is an economic superpower, then Colombia and Portugal are even bigger economic superpowers, and Mexico is a screaming MEGA economic superpower.
20. #4 - the drilling is well within Israeli maritime boundaries
William ,   Israel   (06.11.10)
Tough luck to Lebanon who is trying to distort boundaries and go back in history to create a narrative that the entire area is Lebanese. As #5 pointed out, no one cared until Israel found gas. Same too with the land of Israel....nobody cared too much about the desert until Israel made it bloom now suddenly "Palestinians" have stories of elaborate gardens their great-grandfathers produced and demand the land for themselves.
21. #16 - pipelines to Israel were to be under Mediterranean
William ,   Israel   (06.11.10)
As with water from Turkey, the gas pipelines from Russia would have taken the sea route to reach Israel. I forgive you for missing those points as one actually has to read articles in order to learn these facts. You just simply don't have time for facts, Mike.
22. #19 - Hahaha, Portugal bigger economy than Israel?
William ,   Israel   (06.11.10)
You mean one of the 4 PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain) which are causing great harm to the EU economy because of their over-blown socialist national economies and massive debt? Is that the Portugal you are saying is a bigger than Israel's economy? I didn't realize Israel was considered "3rd world" in your eyes....possibly right next to rice farmers on the Megong Delta.
