Apparently no one knew. It just organically happened, And who says the Israeli government isn't honest? Release all documents and media captured from the flotilla and publish them to the world, unedited and unexpurgated. Or are you all too cowardly to demand that of your government and 'vaunted' IDF.

HE IS BLOWING SMOKE to hide his PERETZ-like handling of the incident. Another dolt. The ENTIRE world watched as the flotilla and Israel's Navy came together, and this lying SLOB claims no knowledge of what was going on...GIVE ME A BREAK, or else he is so stupid he really hasn't a clue... which is it? Liar or IGNORANUS?

14. Barak should be fired NOW!
Claudia ,   Tampa, USA   (06.11.10)
He is a puffed up incompetent moron who continuously does this kind of stuff. Bibi would be better served with the religious parties than this labor screw up. Time he retired anywhere else before he ruins Israel with his bad judgment and enormous ego.
15. barak and yaalon
alexi   (06.11.10)
Second hand reports usually not initally reliable for sure, indicate the following happened in regard to the paintball issue: Obama and white house officials pressed bibi to use maximum restraint in enforcing embargo even though idf had information that turkish terrorists were well prepared aboard the marmora, aided and abetted by Erdogan. Barak who always submits to US dictats, and bibi then decided on paintball guns, stupid dumb idea that placated obama but did not prepare the idf for the worst which you always prepare for. now Moshe Dann's article theatre of the absurd described time after time where Barak made bad decisions out of fear or god knows' what-chinese farm, yacoub, training accident, war on terror against west bank suicide bombers, ramallah lynching. He acts like olmert-like a coward. Even in cast lead, he hedged his bets and only ashkenazi's good plan brought the outcome. Ehud barak wanted to stop early before the point was made to hamas. Now naval commandos got lynched by marmora because of ehud barak. The idf is furious. Bibi is tainted as well and he is sloppy like in the mashall failed hit or the Jersualme wall issue. He also is weak but is light years better than the biggest jewish coward in history olmert. I believe yaalon who reports indicate was not fully informed and he would not have approved paintball guns. I do not have to wait for a commision findings. Barak has to resign and of course he would take labor with him. Bibi could still cut a deal with some or all of kadima to join and to hell with labour. Yaalon should get defense, mofaz could get yaalon's post and livni would be deputy pm and strategic planning. Ehud barak has to be dismissed and he has been poison to israel for the last 30 years.
16. Barak blame now shifted to Ya'alon!?
SJP ,   Jerusalem   (06.11.10)
It stands to reason that Ya'alon has the blame shifted to him. First of all, we may be the democracy of the Middle East but our politicians are pretty much all in it for their own glory and pocketbooks. Second, Ya'alon is the new kid on the political block - an easy target for Barak to bully. Barak is an attention seeker who likes to operate alone. Having borrowed the a page from the playbook of Shimon Peres who attempted to sell out Israel to the Jordanians all on his own in the middle of the night while the rest of the Israeli delegation was sleeping soundly as uncovered later by Ephraim HaLevy (former Mossad Chief).
17. Who is telling the truth?
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (06.11.10)
Who really believes anything any of these people say. They are without credibility.
18. I didnt know I am inocent I promise
zionist forever   (06.11.10)
This operation would have required authorization from Bibi personally and if this operation was due to take place while he was out the country I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't tell his deputy something like this was planned. I also very much doubt that Bibi gave the green light for this operation without first discussing it with the cabinet its not something he authorized without telling anybody about. Assuming Ya'alon hadn't been told about this how exactly does he think him knowing about it would have changed anything? Once the navy have been given the go ahead it becomes a military matter not a political one and Bibi could tell every member of the Knesset and it wouldn't change a thing. Ya'alon should stop trying to pass the buck, if he doesn't want to admit he knew about it in advance say nothing. If he didn't know it wouldn't have changed anything so say nothing. There needs to be a show of unity here in the political establishment instead of politicians trying to save their own skin probably because Bibi has accepted an inquiry will be held.

One of the many problems with Israels political system is if a government wants to survive no matter how badly they screw up you can't fire ministers who are not from your own party. If Barak had been a member of Likud Bibi could kick him out the cabinet without thinking twice but as Barak heads Labor who he needs to keep his government intact and avoid an election then it doesn't matter what Barak does he can't be fired. In 62 years I don't think there has been a single government has managed to go to the full term its elected for. Eventually coalitions break down and the only option is to hold an election. Isn't coalition government wonderful?
20. what?!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (06.11.10)
how does this change anything? the decision to stop the "peace flotilla" was the correct one, and was made at the political level. the details of the action, including timing and rules of engagement are the responsibility of the military, and should NOT have been micro-managed by ya'alon, or any other ex-soldier who is not serving in the idf. if this operation failed, it was because the military considerations were overruled by political ones, and the lives of the commandos were unnecessarily put at risk as a result. operational details should not be subject to political interference or partisan political manipulation.
