If there are soldiers aboard the ship then officially it becomes a military vessel and that Red Crescent banner means nothing. Under the rules of the International Red Cross which Red Crescent is part of its supposed to be a neutral humanitarian organization. If they allow Iranian soldiers aboard they are breaking those rules and so they are not entitled to any of the protection or privilages that Red Cross / Red Crescent vessels are supposed to be given. There is no way Israel is going to let any ship with Iranian soldiers dock in Gaza. The navy will almost certainly try to disable the ship possibly even wth an unmanned gun boat rather than send men aboard to get shot at by Iranians and then tow it to Ashdod. If the Iranians start shooting off guns then the ship will be sunk. If the Red Crescent has any self respect and wants to act like a profesional organization rather than a political one then they will put the soliders off at the nearest port or they will come straight to Israel & surrender the cargo and the crew will surrender and prepare to be deported.

Just do what the Israelis tell you and you won't get hurt.

And arrest the crews for illegal smuggling.

These vessels don't get boarded. They get a warning to turn back. If they ignore it, they get a shot across the bow. If they ignore that and still refuse to turn back, they get a missile amidships. Just like any other country in the world attempting to enforce a fully legal blockade would do. This nonsense has gone on far too long. Iran is scrambling to deflect the attention of the world from sanctions. The Turks couldn't pull it off, so Iran obviously thinks it can do a better job. It can't. Still, a showdown between Israel and Iran has been a long time coming. A clash here -- with its predictable outcome -- will send a strong message to Tehran that they need to rethink their position, and they need to tone down their rhetoric. This isn't a game.

There is no pretense with this scenario. Iran is trying to provoke an attack so the arab world can declare war on Jews. Unless Israel can recruit a third party to stop the ships, Israel will be blamed for the confrontation and an open declared war will ensue.

There is no way on earth that Iran would send military ships to try and break the blockade. If Israel does not want to nuke half the Middle East, this is not going to happen. Iran is just too large for a conventional strike (especially for tiny Israel).

They couldn't care less about the Palestinians - they are just dying to get into a conflict with Israel. To date, our best weapons are the ones we've never had to use nor threatened to use.
