1. no restraint. the court's nuances ruling and interference
avi ,   ny   (06.16.10)
should be put to an end.
2. THIS WILL LEAD TO THE END
Saba   (06.16.10)
This is a real tragedy and it will possibly lead to the collapse of the state of Israel. I have no doubt that this will cause an uproar in Shomyim and Hashem will not sit back and look down upon his crying children peacefully and laugh it off. One thing can still be done to avoid parents of going to jail for Two weeks is, pray to g-dand ask him to aknoll this decree, its all in g-d hands. As brothers and sisters we have to feel for those parents who are fighting for Kovod Shmayim, and reduce g-d pain. We hope and pray that when g-d sees how Klall Yisroel are united on this matter it will speed up the Geulah.
3. What about a more expanded wisdom already??
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.16.10)
There is not such a thing as Ashkenazim and Sephardim to begin with. This is only a temporal, temporary distinction forcebly created in Galut. This is not our actual reality. Our reality resides *before* Diaspora, when we lived as one People. Now,back to Israel,we must rid ourselves of the bad influences of a temporal imposed diviseness and keeping only the "gold"we "mined"in our Galut, and come backing to One People's reality, because *this* is our true reality. One People.
4. # 2
Sagi   (06.16.10)
A load of crap.
5. Message for Avi in NY - keep your nose outta our bizniz
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.16.10)
Avi - ya don't like our courts? Too bad, cuz you're an American and this is an Israeli issue. You remind me of the southern rednecks in America who wanted to kill the justices who ruled that white kids had to go to school with black kids. We don't need Jewish racists here, be they secular or haredi. And shame on anybody who thinks that haredis have some halachik right to be racist boors and spit on sephardim. They don't. In fact, Hashem told us that the very thing these haredim are doing is sinat hinam. Avi... stay in NY and keep your nose out of other people's business. Unless, of course, you're willing to put your money where your mouth is and make aliya.
6. #2 that is what the High Court wants
(06.16.10)
7. This is a massive Kiddush Shem Shmayim
Steve ,   Brooklyn NY   (06.16.10)
This is a massive Kiddush Shem Shmayim to protect our childrens education from hitting rock bottom all over Israel. The State has so many problems at present, can't the leaders see that god is upset with them? as the say "wake up and smell the coffee"
8. :: Just to be pedantic I will argue in favor...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.16.10)
...of these parents even though I do *not* agree with their actions/religiously racist views: 1) The Palestinian territories (WB, Gaza and E Jerusalem) are held by the State of Israel in belligerent occupation (as per Israeli high court ruling in the Beit Sourik Case) 2) As such the *only* rule of law in these areas is (Israeli) *military law* (as well of course International Law) as the State of Israel has no sovereign over these lands (again as per Israeli high court ruling in the Beit Sourik Case). 3) “Israeli law does not apply in these (occupied Palestinian) areas” (as per Israeli high court ruling - June 2005). Thus the Israeli Secular Gov has no (legal/sovereign) right to impose any Israeli civil law or rulings in these areas and by extension to any person(s) in these occupied areas. Anyone care to disagree with this argument?
9. #7, Steve, this is a tremendous chillul hashem.
Besalel ,   Great Neck, NY   (06.16.10)
The secular world looks at us like sunnis and shiites fighting over petty differences. The observant jews look like a bunch of fools. Shame on Slonim. This is NOT Judaism.
10. #5 obviously you are ignorent of the fact that most israeli
Pete ,   Chicago   (06.16.10)
jews have duel citizenship. meaning one foot already out the door once things sour. don't take my word for it. in 2008 10000 jews left back to Germany. are the less Jewish because they are back in Germany? the only one bringing racism on this board is you Brian .
11. #2, you are supporting a disgusting group of racists
Jake ,   USA   (06.16.10)
Jews have been insulating themselves in communities & ghettos for so many years, they forgot how to tolerate their own people! For the first time, I actually support the Israeli Court against the religious public. Ashkenazi attitudes toward Sephardim is a shameful and disgusting problem apparent in Israeli society for many years. Maybe this court ruling will give these racists a much needed wake-up call, or at the very least, 2 weeks in a 6X10 cell to reconsider their racist attitudes. This talkback may seem a bit harsh, but I am sick & tired of Jews being racist -- especially toward each other!! We should know better.
12. no to racism
(06.17.10)
they must not discriminate against Jews who are not born in Europe. If Eliyahu Hanavi was before them they would see he looked sephardi and decline him as well. Disgusting behaviour from the so called "Hasidim".
13. #8, I care to disagree with your verbal diarrhea
Jake ,   USA   (06.17.10)
1) The occupied (not Palestinian yet) territories do not include East Jerusalem which is fully annexed and integrated. 2) Since no one else has a claim to the West Bank (Jordan released its claim, and "Palestine" is not a state yet, probably never will be) Israeli law does apply to areas which the state intends on keeping forever (such as large settlements). 3) The Israeli court ruled: "Israeli law does not apply to these (soon to be annexed) areas" - so what? The same court just ruled that in these (soon to be annexed) areas, there will be no racial discrimination.
14. #7
(06.17.10)
This is the biggest chillul Hashem for a long time. It highlights the sinat hinam that exists within the chasidim who are discriminating against the sephardic charedim in Israel. Tell me what would be so damaging to the education to let these yemeni charedi girls from being in the same class room there is plenty of room. It might be painful to admit it but these hasidim only want white faces in the class rooms and I think this is what is bothering them. And to reply to your talkback, this is what will upset G_d. The hasidim must stop hardening their hearts and change their ways. They must also understand that the ancient Jews were not white and did not wear streimels either, so this "holier than though attitude" is indefensible even according to their backward logic
15. These (aprticual) Haredim = Korakh
Golan ,   Modiin   (06.17.10)
Last week;s parasha spoke against divisiveness such as this. There is NOTHING in Halacha which forbid Ashkenazis from learning with Sfaradim. And this action on the part of these hassidics is nothing but self aggrandizement. This is why they are equal to korah.
16. haredim are the most intolerantand judgemental people
dave ,   uk   (06.17.10)
17. :: Jake - #13
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.17.10)
I guess I was expecting to much when I hoped for an intelligent reply or at least I hoped I would not have to go over old ground. No it isn’t, that is why *no* other country recognizes Israel’s illegal claim to E Jerusalem, it is also the reason why Israel can’t build there as per Obama’s instructions. The Palestinians have a claim, as recognized by the global community, UN, EU, US etc. Only Ynuts like you deny the obvious. On point 3 in your post, if you cannot even recognized the rulings of Israeli courts there is really no hope for you.
18. Do slonim share jews genes or they are
Holmes ,   Nearby   (06.17.10)
europeans converts? "Slonim is a Hasidic dynasty originating in the town of Slonim, which is now in Belarus" So, as muslims, quakers, christians they constitute a separate racial, religuos sect nothing to do to real ME indigenuos jews as mizrahim, sephardies. Let them to live apart.
19. #2 What are you smoking?
David ,   Los Angeles   (06.17.10)
You talk about pain and crying and Klal Yisroel. And then you want to pray to "aknoll (sic) this decree." How do you dare to cloak an aveirah in this kind of phoney Torah language? The "decree" is is to force the racists to stop their sinas chinom against Sephardi children!
20. What a wonderful thing!
shrinkDave ,   Miami USA   (06.17.10)
This dillema is an anti-semites wet dream. Thank you Haredim, and whilst you are distracted from the reality of the moment, haters of Israel get closer to poisoning your well. However, as we all know, the degree of brainwashing that you have undergone is so thorough, that you have no choice, but to follow religious commands. Hope they don't command you to go over a cliff.
21. kol israel yesh lo chelek
Colin   (06.17.10)
Close down the whole settlement of emanuel, it clearly offers the jewish people or the state of israel nothing of value. If these people dont recognise the rule of law and that jews are all the same and that they should abide by the law otherwise we are just pagans.
22. One People Again
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot, Israel   (06.17.10)
We MUST get rid of the galut in our country. We MUST be one people again. Genetic reasurch has found that Ashkenazis and Sfaradim were one people about 2,500 yeas ago. The seperation came about the timeof the distruction of the 2nd Temple. Galut behavior must be opposed and removed at all costs .
23. re;#13
yossi ,   ny,usa   (06.17.10)
You agree more than you disagree, The point he was making was that the so called "high" court is a far left non entity, So their opinion in this or in any matter is irrelevant! Ahavat yisrael;)
24. #7 Please don't lump all Chasidim together
Yerach ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (06.17.10)
This is one group not all chasidim The Chabad-Lubavitch chasidim (which I am afiliated) Beit Rivkah schools do not discriminate at all & have always welcomed both Ashkenazim & sephardim as equals. The late Lubavitcher Rebbe,ZT"L,ZY"A loved all Jews & if he were here today would be blasting this with full fury!!!!
25. Court right and wrong in this one
Naftali ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.17.10)
The court was right to stop the school segregation...YES, but they went afoul as if in a personal vendetta when they REFUSED to allow the hasisim any other alternatives. Parents have a right to decide how their children should be educated and what type of school/influences to expose them to. While the school itself MUST NOT SEGREGATE on RACIAL LINES, BUT the parents should of been allowed to send their kids to a hasidic school outside emanual, or start a new privately funded private school...or even allowed them to homeschool. ALL these requests WERE MADE by the hasisim and Each One Was Shot Down...WHY? seems like the court wouldnt allow them any choice but attempted to force the to send their kids ONLY to this school...NOT OKAY. the court is going way overboard at this point and way beyond what was needed , and by the way the SCHOOL STOPPED the SEGRATION...isnt that the REAL issue, its not about where the parents choose to send their kids... but I guess the courts feel we dont have this right anymore.
26. to Jake: you need to get a good nights sleep
to Jake   (06.17.10)
27. to # 2 could not have daid it better !!!!!
(06.17.10)
28. 27% Sephardic
Garet Benson ,   Modiin, Israel   (06.17.10)
The secular press, with the exception of Ben-Dror Yemini, seems to be leaving out an important fact: 27% of the students enrolled in the supposed "racist" Hassidic track are Sephardic.
29. We are all G-ds children
Mark ,   Maale Adumim   (06.17.10)
And we want peace with the Arabs, we can't even have peace with our own. Thank G-d my children go to a normal religious school where everyone gets on with each other Know matter what colour they are. .
30. #26, I get 8 hours every night. Thanks for your concern.
