Moish ,   Canada   (06.17.10)
One law for them another for the rest. Just make sure their welfare keeps coming right? Bunch of rascist . Not a penny of my donations will go to Israel.

Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.17.10)
problem. Frankly,I think this specific group of Haredim is wrong .I am sure not all Haredim agree with them. I think that the Police should throw water * if necessary* and prevent any kind of ugly violence from both sides-Haredim and Police-and this matter should end objectively and precisely: No is No.Period! Let Haredim flexibilize their fenced ways a bit.It will be good.
3. Alabama 1965.
Jackson ,   chicago usa   (06.17.10)
This reminds me of the racist south during the civil rights era. When blacks first integrated, racist whites rioted. we are all Jews and should know better. A jew is a jew.
4. Perfect timing
shrinkDave ,   Miami USA   (06.17.10)
It is at moments like this in history, when Jews become very involved with themselves and are distracted from the reality of the moment, that the enemy has seized the initiative to attack.
5. haredim ignorant of News
Golan ,   modiin   (06.17.10)
and the only thing most of them know is the filtered propaganda of their community organizers. This is sort of like getting your news from only Betselem or only from Kakh.
6. this is not the end of the story
(06.17.10)
MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism), who met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman, told the Knesset: "We, the ultra-Orthodox community, will not respect rulings, not of lower courts and not of the High Court, that contradict the Torah." Gafni went on to say that there is an opportunity to prevent the parents from being jailed. "These pictures [of the parents being jailed] will be published worldwide and there will be no escape from thinking about what happened in other countries at other times when ultra-Orthodox Jews with side locks and beards went to jail."
7. sick and getting sicker
Dov ,   Jerusalem Jerusalem   (06.17.10)
is this what democracy is all about? no wonder the Arabs cant get along with Israel, Israel cant get along with its own citizens.
8. First time ever Victory for Chradim
Lavi ,   Zfat Israel   (06.17.10)
R’ Elyashiv, R’ Steinman, R’ Wosner, and the entire spectrum of Chraidy Gedolei Yisroel have unequivocally called for all to join the rally tomorrow to be Mechazek these parents and to demonstrate against the court decision. Under their guidance all boys and girls schools, yeshivas & kollelim in Bnei Brak & yerushalyim will close tomorrow so everyone can attend. The gedolim themselves in a rare move are going to personally attend and address the Tzibur. Israeli media is reporting that they expect hundreds of thousands of shomrei torah to show up tomorrow to rally in support of the situation. This will lead the arrival of the Moshiach in the near future. The amount of Achdut demonstrated in this particular situation has never been shown in the past. . .
9. And I thought.....
Abir ,   Chicago, IL   (06.17.10)
All Jews are equal in Israel.....apparently not. If sephardi kids are separated from Ashkenazim in this school, it is no less than apartheid. Put these rioters in jail. Its not like the economy is going to suffer due to their absence. Better yet, send them to the military. If they can riot, they can fight the enemy.
10. These religious
Ted   (06.17.10)
It is a shame that at this time of facing immense challenges from other countries like Iran, Turkey, and from Hezbollah and Hamas, all these 20000 religious people do is to protest and waste public resources over such an issue. They do not contribute to the society and only try to divide everyone in this country. Do they think God will be pleased with their protest? Obviously not! The Government should stop wasting time and resources on them and remove their citizenship if they continue to create such civil unrest and violence.
11. only 2 weeks, that is too lenient
ghostq   (06.17.10)
they hurt policeofficers, make them do community service in secular ereas. they do nothing all day anyway, since they have time to demonstrate they probably will have time to be usufull in working for the general community.
12. Jews, equal, in Israel?!
Sophie ,   Petah Tikva, Israel   (06.17.10)
Are you kidding? There is so much hate here between different groups. There are so many different different groups in here and there is hate between them.. Did you know "tzabar"s hate Russians? Or the general war between religious and non religious? What about the time black jews were separated from whites in Petah Tikva, and weren't accepted to religious schools? I just think you're blind
13. #9 Abir - can you read?
Shalom Hartman   (06.17.10)
You are obviously a product of brainwashing - it has repeated over and over again: this is not a sephardi/ashkenazi issue (although most secular articles would like you to think it is); this is about maintaining religious standards. I am all for diversity to a certain degree, but if I lived in Emanuel, I would not want my kid in class with kids who watch all the shmutz on tv; who can "educate" my kids on things I'ld rather they not know at their young age, etc etc
14. false headline by ynet
yoni ,   tel aviv   (06.17.10)
parents did not refuse to withdraw the policy of the school. The school implemented the court ruling while a group of parents decided they prefer to send their kids to another school instead. The court ordered them to send their kids to this school. This is what the parents refused to do. We have so little respect for eachother its pathetic

liz   (06.17.10)
Did you read what you wrote before you pressed Submit? Acbdut???? Over what, a chilul hashem such as open racism - declaring that sephardi pupils are second class citiziens and as such may not contaminate the classrooms of ashkenazi schools....... Where is it written in the Torah that "white" ashkenazi jews are better than mizracim.... This is the final straw this community has gone totally mad, and the country is letting them... 10,000 policemen to protect them from each other and the normal citizens from them? Have we totally lost our minds...? How much of the taxpayers money is that going to cost? How long are these madmen going to hold the rest of the country to ransom?. Send in a few policement on horseback and a couple of tanks and see if they dare riot then.
16. Another Reason
K ,   Chicago, US   (06.17.10)
Not to make Aliyah. There is one rule for Haredi and another for everyone else. Where in the Torah does it say that Jews from the Eastern Europe are the Great Chosen? I hate to disappoint them, to the majority of Jews in the world they are the dregs of the Earth, just a little better than garbage. The Israel government is paying for the school, if these creatures who hate G-d want a school only for THEIR kind, let them build it AND finance it themselves!
17. #1 Moish
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Isarel   (06.17.10)
Dear Moish, the donkey. Keep your money. We don't need your pitiful 100 dollar a year donation. And we certainly don't need your diaspora opinion. You want to have any say in anything here in Israel? You do like I did 22 years ago - you leave behind your family, your friends, and your good life, and you move to Israel. That's Zionism (and not your unneeded "guilt" money) and THAT entitles you to a say here. If you don't come - then SHUT UP!!! You only show us your ignorance and give us a good laugh.

Larry ,   Los Angeles   (06.17.10)
It is about time that some one protested against the totalitarian power that the Israeli supreme court has. This group of smug Jewish hating jurists who try to mold the Jewish state to be more christian than the pope should learn a lesson, i.e. that to be a Jewish judge requires some prior knowledge of what it is to be a Jew. They may be experts in how American law sees justice, but they have NO understanding of what and how a religious Jew thinks and acts. these judges should be required to learn about Judaism in its fullest sense before they can sit on even the lowest court bench. their arrogance is astounding and despicable. May they realize their error before their crude pronuciations cause people to be injured by their gross miscarriage of interpretation of justice.
19. The Issue Is NOT Ashkenazim vs. Sfaradim
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (06.17.10)
Anyone who sees the Hebrew version of this article- including the1st video, can get a real view about the issues. THE issue is that CERTAIN (not all) non-chassidic, Sfaradia girls who want to attend that school allegedly choose not to abide by the accepted religious standards of the school. In the video 2 Sfaradi rabbis in Emanuel state clearly that the issue is simply one of different customs and norms. I am not ultra-Orthodox, my daughters also don't dress like, or have the norms of the chassidic girls, so they also wouldn't be accepted. That's 100% legitimate. Unfortunately, the secular press, like the court, has a specific agenda, and it isn't truth.
20. The Word of God is to be lived during the course of normal
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.17.10)
existence. What I see described here is a non-productive sect who have successfully used the Torah as an excuse for copping out - with the support of the State. Well, they are not totally non-productive. After all, they do produce riots and babies. Without a doubt, they are an unwelcome burden to the society. Such a pity they are guaranteed taxpayers hard-earned dollars to support them. They should be made to eat the bread the devil knead.
21. Haradim always do problems
American   (06.17.10)
22. Deputy Minister of Health Litsman on Reshet B' yesterday:
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.17.10)
"He will not allow his daughter to be in the same class as a Sephardi girl because the Sepharadim allow their children to use the Internet and watch TV!" Now you tell me if this is not a return to the Dark Ages! The real reason is they do not want their daughters to be educated. They are just baby making machines! If they don't like it here then they can go and live in Iran! The law is the law and religious fanaticism is out!
23. rapists and murderers go free, Haredim to jail over schools
Ronen Kory ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.17.10)
The record of the high court speaks for itself with the level of crime inthis country. And since when is keeping your kids at home a prison-able crime?
24. #6: They really believe they are sympathetic?
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (06.17.10)
Again their ignorance is breathtaking. The behavior of the ultra-Orthodox is likened to mullahs of Iran in the global press, and proof that no religion is immune from the ugliness of extremism. THEY damage Israel's reputation on the world stage, and this incident is no exception. When their punishment is brought to the world stage, people will cheer.
25. Stirring hatred
Joseph ,   Israel   (06.17.10)
Anat Kam, Uri Blau, Tali Fahima and the anti-IDF pro-Hamas protest in Tel Aviv. The Left has nothing positive to offer. The only thing they can do to strengthen themselves is stir up hatred against others. So they accuse innocent "mitnahalim" of "defacing" a mosque and separate children from their parents, without caring about the trauma they cause the children.
26. Ashkenazim and Sephardi school girls
John   (06.17.10)
i do not care what the parents want to do with their children. But if the school disobeys a court order no funds from the gov should be offered for schooling. the parents that took their children out of school should suffer the same, no money to help in any fashion. Putting them in jail only give the ultra religious a bone. They want the confrontation.
27. #16, Larry, SHUT UP!
John ,   Europe   (06.17.10)
Your sorry American ass is protected with American secular laws! It's so easy to be a pompous American Jew when you are in this position! You first move your butt to Israel and THEN judge around!
28. YISHAI KOHEN I HAVE LOST RESPECT FOR YOU
y betesh ,   deal, nj   (06.17.10)
HOW HAVE YOU TURNED INTO AN APOLOGIST FOR RCISTS? DO YOU THINK THAT CHAREIM ARE YOUR ALLIES YOU ARE SORELY MISTAKEN. THEY ARE THE REASON GUSH KATIF WAS ABLE TO HAPPEN.
29. #22 You are right
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.17.10)
The law is the law. And at the present the non-heredi is the majority, but what will be in 15 years from now when the heredi have make 10 babies each to everybody else's 2 babies AND THEY become the majority, which is a real possibility, and democratically they change the laws. THEN WHO IS GOING TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY? THEM OR YOU??
30. Shalom 13
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.17.10)
It's only RACISM . Otherwise why this separation wall in the courtyard ? Also to "protect" those "poor" girls ? As Emanuel is a mostly Othodox town , there must not be much TV's there . And even if youy were right . Are those girls so "weak" in their belief ?
