1. int´l pressure to israel suicide
jorge ,   argentina   (06.17.10)
2. Appeasement will get us nowhere.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.17.10)
We are being nibbled away, a little bite at a time. I think the accurate description is, ''death by a thousand cuts.''
3. Confusing article, is there a banned item list now?
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.17.10)
So Katz's plan not used? and a few more goods allow in? The blockade is not important but get Hamas out of power and stopping rocket attacks is.
4. reciprocity
Aileen ,   usa   (06.17.10)
Once upon a time, Netanyahu emphasized the need for reciprocity: if Israel gives something and gets nothing in return, it's rewarding and encouraging its enemies. What did Israel get in return for this concession?
5. Where is Shallit?
Brod ,   USA   (06.17.10)
Israel should not cave in to the dark forces of easing the blockade? Israel should pressure the world to get Shallit out from Hamas' kidnappers before easing the flow of humanitarian goods into Gaza. Israel must be tough in its stand. Meanwhile, Israel should kick out Blair who is crusading the Islamist-Jihadist agenda in the Land of Israel. Israel does not need any external entities advancing the causes of its enemies.
6. so
(06.17.10)
So Gazans who voted for Hamas get ice cream. What does Gilad Shalit get?
7. Stupid move
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.17.10)
Has anyone bothered to notice that despite all the international trumpeting about so-called "humanitarian concerns" in Gaza, the best that any of the attempted blockade breakers can manage to do is send lots of toys and lots of expired medicines? Wow. Just the things for a supposedly "starving" Gaza. Toys. Mm, mm, yum!
8. Use Katz's Plan
Yossef ,   Rehovot, Israel   (06.17.10)
no plan B or Z. Disengage immediately and absolutely from Gaza. And be clear about our extremely harsh reaction for any rocket launch on Israel. We have no choice. Don't you understand that we cannot continue to maintain any pressure on Gaza ? IT IS FINISHED! So let us finish that our way, not heir way.
9. :: Not good enough
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.17.10)
This minor concession is worth squat and will not stop the planned flotillas. The only course of action available to the Gov of Israel is to *totally* lift the brutal and inhumane siege of Gaza, until this happens international activists will continue to run the blockade.
10. What utter nonsense
Greta Berlin Co-Founder, The free Gaza movement ,   Los Angeles, CA   (06.17.10)
Israel still doesn't 'get it.' And it may never get it until we continue to send ships back to Gaza. We are already working on the next flotilla. And we are not the only ones this time: several initiatives are sending boats including a Jewish boat from Germany and a woman's boat from Lebanon. Until Israel finally 'gets it' that our voyages were not about delivering aid but were about breaking the illegal blockade of Gaza, they are going to continue to be faced with us. Gaza has the right to live, the Palestinians have the right to security and not to be bombed back into the mud age. Israel condemns 1.5 million people to a life of bare subsistence and, until they realize that, we will be back.
11. :: Hey Sarah BS - #7
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.17.10)
Is this another example of ‘Israel standing firm and refusing to buckle under international pressure’? It would seem that you are totally out of touch with your wishful thinking and the reality of the matter is that Israel is bowing to international pressure while Obama approaches from the rear. :)
12. #10 good to hear from you
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.17.10)
I don't get it and would like your help. You say Gaza has a right to live, everyone agrees. Do you think that the Jews have a right to live? Yes or No? If you agree that the Jews have a right to live, why do you support the Hamas that explicitly calls for the extermination of the Jews?
13. :: Hey Greta - #10
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.17.10)
Keep up the great work! :) You are putting the governments of the world to shame by taking positive action while they sit on their hands. BTW have you room for one more on the next flotilla?
14. Israel once again proves it's generosity.
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (06.17.10)
15. you can come back, Greta....
Dana Rothschild ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.17.10)
we are still here..... I am really moved by your concern about the "Palestinians".... why are you not concerned about the fate of Gilad Shalit? he has a right to live also... you are a hypocrite and a distasteful person!
16. utter nonsense #10
Robins ,   jerusalem   (06.17.10)
We in Israel listened to the lies and rubbish you spoke when you claimed that the flotilla was full of peace activists. We saw instead that you had loaded up 50 armed IHH terrorists who nearly killed some of our soldiers. No-one here is going to believe a word you say - your actions are simply to support terrorism
17. @10 Will you visit Shalit?
S.   (06.17.10)
18. Matty
Tarzan ,   middle east   (06.17.10)
How much hate does a man need to go blind. This just said that Israel is letting all civilian goods into Gaza, and leaving the responsibility in the hands of the Egyptian, except from checking for arms smuggeling all goods will go in. Now do you mean to say that you insist on Hamas being able to arm themselves before you are happy? this is it man. De facto the siege is over, what we have now is an arms blockade
19. # 11....
Dana Rothschild ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.17.10)
Don't you see Matt, from Fairport, that Obama approaches his end, as a president of the USA??? I see it from Jerusalem... Obama will step down in 2,5 years and even his own party will forget him... we will be still here....
20. Back to Gaza
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.17.10)
By leaving Gaza alone and only monitoring its borders and coastlines, Israel displayed superhuman patience and tolerance for terrorists. But if the world refuses to back a naval blockade, then Israel has no choice but to take control of the ground. If the Obama administration refuses to accept the understanding on which Israel's original withdrawal was based, then it is time to reverse that withdrawal. The ongoing imprisonment of Gilad Shalit, Hamas' own atrocities against fellow Arabs and the presence of Al Queda in Gaza-- are all additional factors that demand action as explained at : http://xrl.us/bhouhu
21. Give warning to HAMAS
oxo ,   USA   (06.17.10)
Any further hoslitilies will mean shutting off water and electricity to Gaza 1 week at a time, which will RESUME IMMEDIATELY when hostilities cease. Hostilities included firing of rockets into Israeli territory.
22. Somehow managed
Lee ,   Falmouth   (06.17.10)
"but it appears the international activists have somehow managed to break the siege" This shows how clueless Israelis and their media are. By exposing the Israeli relentless and purposeful attacks on the Palestinian populations through collective punishment to the world has forced the Israelis to back off some. The govt says it was planning to do this before the flotilla (do you believe).
23. a victory for the flotzilla
eric ,   nyc   (06.17.10)
you can now expect many more boats..you got zero in return for this move.the enemy is laughing
24. Business as usual
Debbie ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.17.10)
As usual...in exchange for NOTHING!! Sorry Gilad, we are all being held hostage, so we can't rescue you. Israel has the sorriest "leadership" of any nation in the world!!
25. Oh.. What did the Turks say to You?...lol.. Musta been
RJBH ,   Methil   (06.17.10)
something like... "Open the Gates".. or we send 'Escorts' with the Next Convoy.
26. #19 Dana- Obama will be sent packing..
Yossi G. ,   Jerusalem   (06.17.10)
with the only thing to show for his effort, the ever so "temporary" building freeze in Judea+Samaria.
27. to #16 - Robins, Jerusalem
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (06.17.10)
50 armed terrorists??? If you say no one here is going to believe a word ... you must mean no one here on YNET because if you haven't noticed there is a MAJOR world concern about how your GI Joes boarded and killed innocent people! What actions are you talking about when you say "your actions are simply to support terrorism"? Even a huge percentage of Israelis believe the way the GI Joes boarded and killed was wrong...never mind the rest of the world! You're a DUFUS!
28. your claims are false
alan ,   texas   (06.17.10)
Gaza has a lower birth mortality than turkey. check that fact! gaza has a higher standard of living than most arab countries. check that fact! Israel send gaza about 15,000 tons of food and humanitarian supplies every week. check that fact! you must either be dishonest, stupid, anti-Semitic or a fool or all of the above.
29. ELTON JOHN IN ISRAEL
Kerry ,   Canada   (06.17.10)
What a win win situation as he knows true civility when he sees it and has the merrit to show the WORLD unlike the Pixies, Elvis Costello, and Kloaxon have chosen the side of Islam. I seen Elvis Costello many years ago in Canada, what a blas, but now unfortunately I cannot excuse his political agenda which is clearly not democratic. SHAME on YOU ALL and see how many muslims buy your records and listen to your music
30. Poor Gilad
Andrew ,   Australia   (06.17.10)
A uniformed soldier on patrol was captured and since then Israel has blockaded and starved 1.5 million civilians in retaliation. Really am I supposed to feel so sorry for Shalit? If you want him, then release some of the 10,000 Palestinian prisoners you are holding from their families and homes.
