1. 20 Sephardic parents going to jail
BM ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.17.10)
Why do you keep writing 86 slonimer chassidim when over 20 of the couples (40 parents) are of Sephardic descent. This is not a Sephardic/ ashkenazic divide it is a religous standard issue.
2. The self-elected judges must IMMEDIATELY be replaced
DOWN WITH THE ,   HIGH COURT   (06.17.10)
In a democratic country, the judges are elected democratically. In Israel, a country that considers themselves a democracy, must get rid of these corrupt, evil, secular, Meretz, chareidi-hater judges and vote for judges that are fitting for all.

than they already are. With their lies, they're trying to convince those who don't know the truth.

don't take money from it. Go to a school that has no funding from the state.

entitled to receive funding for their schools like secular schools.
8. Down With The High Court: You don't
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.17.10)
have a clue. The judges on the Supreme Court in the USA are appointed by the President with veto power from congress. In Canada, the Prime Minister appoints members of the Supreme Court.
9. In all nation states, the government has

a stake in its citizens' education and has a duty to set minimum standards. The Charedim are therefore not free to do exactly what they want regarding their childrens' education. Unfortunately, the majority of Charedim neither respect the State of Israel nor feel that they have any responsibilities towards it. They wish to create a state within a state. Of course, there are those Charedim who are so extreme that they refuse to acknowledge the State at all. I think most of the rest of the Jewish citizens of Israel, both secular and religious, are fed up with the Chareidim. A crisis has occurred and now is the time to put the Chareidm in their place: Exposure to the IDF and/or National Service; compliance with national educational standards; no further social welfare nor old age pensions without contributions to the State.
10. #8 Robert Neither Peres nor Bibi appointed these judges
DOWN WITH THE ,   HIGH COURT   (06.17.10)
Only in Israel do the judges THEMSELVES appoint their colleagues. The only thing the public can do is to send them the angel
11. #8 You just proved his point, actually.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.17.10)
What you described was a process wherein a democratically elected state official or set of officials appoint the Supreme Court judges. That's a democratic process, a direct extension of the elections in which the appointing elected officials entered their positions. In Israel, the Supreme Court elected itself, with each generation of judges appointing the next. The current generation of Supreme Court judges is still of those deemed "suitable" by the previous judges, which resulted in the Supreme Court becoming a closed clique that operates around very similar political lines.
