So now they have undertaken to do the job themselves. Israel has not hesitated in the past to sink Iranian vessels carrying arms to Hamas and Hizbollah. Israel has not hesitated in the past to destroy convoys attempting to supply Iranian weapons to Hamas (remember the Sudan?). So why on earth do you think that it would be a good idea for Israel to develop a severe case of shyness when it comes to Iran's clear intent to run a blockade that is fully legal and necessary to ensure the safety and security of Israel's citizens? It's not Burma, by the way. It's Myanmar. Speaking of which -- the United States, the U.K. and Australia have imposed a naval blockade upon Myanmar, which has had devastating humanitarian consequences -- real ones, unlike the artificial one in Gaza -- particularly in the wake of the devastating cyclone a number of years ago. If you know your history, you might recall that the 1956 Suez Crisis, when Egypt refused to let Israeli ships through, is what kicked off the war between Egypt and Israel / France / Britain. Those international agreements that Egypt cites to allow through any ship from any country unless Egypt is actively at war with them stem from exactly that event. Unless Israel would like to argue that Egypt should be free to block Israeli ships again, I'd suggest not arguing against this one.
