"Israel is putting the United Nations on notice that we will not tolerate any attempt to interfere with our fully legal blockade of Gaza. We will take all necessary steps to interdict any vessel attempting to breach the blockade, including the use of deadly force." Can't say they haven't been warned.
2. Lebanon? Who? Oh the UN member state Hezballah

3. writing the UN for help; What a Friggin Waste of Time
izzie irgun ,   zion   (06.18.10)
will someone explain why israel bothers to write the idiots at the UN for help when they are stooges for arabs seeking a confrontation. When lebanon and israel explode into war then the jerk in chief, ban ki moon can go have another commission the results of which have already been written. Maybe we are better off with having the big confronation now, at least iran isn't a nuclear power yet and we all know that the nest time syria and iran will jump in and get kicked back. Between the lebaneese boats and the iranian boats does anyone expect a peaceful resolution.
4. Thanks for your peaceful contribution Sarah.
lara ,   Australia   (06.19.10)
When even the U.N are calling for the lifting of the Gaza blockade then there is nothing legal about it. Gaza is Palestinian territory not Israeli territory. They have their own government and their own boarders, language, flag and demographics separate to the Israeli state. Therefore it does not fall under Israeli juristiction nor do the waters on its border. Therefore, Israel has no right to sanction Palestine or prohibit goods entering through its sea boarders. Doing so is illegal.

= an existential threat to Israel
6. And what about Hariri. Hold him accountable.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.19.10)
It is his nationals who are engaging in an act of provocation against Israel. Demand that he stop them. Warn them that if they continue, it will be at their own peril. And what about the EU whose citizens may also be on board?
7. Nothing Like the Smell of Phosphorous
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUsA   (06.19.10)
To Izzi Irgun: I completely agree with you. Now is the time for Israel to finally become pro-active, and be serious, no more pre-mature withdrawals (a la Lebanon/Gaza Strip). We all know that the UN cease fires have been violated to a fault by those antagonists who now boast over 80,000 rockets, many capable of hitting Dimona, etc. And where is Hillary (and Obama) in all of this? Hez threatens intls shipping if a war breaks out. Syria is giving Hez Scud Ds, the most advanced Korean missile. Hez has anti-aircraft missiles north of the Litani. Iran threatens nuke sites against the USA and 40,000 suicide bombers..if attacked ( Jewish and Israeli interests worldwide are targets-including NYCity and suburbs). Here in Los Angeles, our major buildings are targeted by terrorists (and LAX). Times Square is not exempt again. Hundreds of Islamic cells have proliferated, and they have supporters. To Israel: simply walk out of the UN, until they change their bias against you. To Diaspora Jews, unify, unify, unify. Fight, fight, fight, arm yourselves for the "final jihad", the "mother of all battles" as threatened daily by Islamic fascists and fatwas by clerics.
8. the flotilla is an act of war
Uri   (06.19.10)
noting to do will humanitarian work the countrys that support the flotillas should be accounted for there act the pressure needs to be on the terrorist hamas not on Israel

As I see it, no matter what we say or prove will not be taken into consideration. Money can buy people as well as governments.

What happened to Hans Blix archives of Harshly Worded Letters that were supposed to stop Iran & North Korea?? Surely there must be one there the UN can send to Lebanon.
11. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.19.10)
This wasn't a plea for help, dear. This was setting the stage for blowing the vessels out of the water.
12. To # 3: NOT asking for help. Please read #1:
Israeli 2   (06.19.10)
PUTTING THEM ON NOTICE which is completely different. It means warning them to avoid complete and total destruction IF and WHEN necessary.
13. Ball in UN Court!
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (06.19.10)
A most excellent move by Israel. Israel has calmly and clearly laid out the problem in an official forum. The UN has an obligation at this point to clearly state where they fall on the issue of these flotillas. If the blockades are legal, the UN must help Israel enforce them. If the blockades are illegal the UN must explain in what way they are illegal and give precedence why this is so. The UN must filter out all of the left wing/Muslim emotion and examine this issue strictly on the basis of legality. Kudos to Bibi and the Israeli government for putting the ball squarely in the UN’s court.
14. UN action
Dr Bob ,   L.A. USA   (06.19.10)
Asking UN action,is liking trying to put out a fire with "kerosene" The UN Members wake up each AM thinking out creative ways to single out Israel as an Evil entity, without appearing to be Anti-Semitic. Israel is literally fighting for its life and battling most of the world and even Obama now, to survive. To Life!!
15. Pathetic and pitiful
(06.19.10)
This is israel's strategy? To whine to the UN? Is there no Jew in Israel who can lead and defend the country?

17. Blackade enforcement may require damaging/sinking flotilla.
Daniel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.19.10)
Failure to enforce blockade could lead, eventually, to Islamist storming into Israel by the thousands. Nip this in the bud. Stop the flotillas at sea.
18. good...
Aggs ,   Aarhus - Denmark   (06.19.10)
I'm really liking the global movement to break the siege and free Gaza. Israel must act swiftly towards peace in order to save herself from more isolation!!

Hamas shoots **8,000** rockets at Israel, and you say Israel is responsible for peace? What international law does Hamas -not- violate???? Oh but you don't care about that do you? They have held Gilad Shalit since 25 June, 2006. No aid, no phone call, and even deny Red Cross. They shoot at civilians. They oppress their own citizens, they violently enforce sharia, and their own vicious order. They steal the aid Israel sends, hold their own people hostage, murder civilians, glorify murder and martyrdom and the most heinous and violent application of Koran, they hide behind women and children as shields, and when Israel stops a murder, they cry "Oppression!" By the way, Israel released every single prisoner from the flotilla, while Hamas blocks the aid that Gaza supposedly needs. Like I said what law does Hamas -not- violate, and you can't find anything wrong with them? But OH if Israel tries to stop weapons and materials reaching violent extremists who have sworn a death-oath to kill any Jew anytime, anywhere, well you have a problem with that don't you??
22. UN, implement UNSC Resolution 242 in Gaza now!!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (06.19.10)
Fortunately, the Gaza predicament can be resolved speedily, if the will is there. The legal basis is certainly in place: United Nations Security Council Resolution 242, as is. 242 calls upon Israel's armed forces to withdraw from territories it captured during the defensive 1967 Six-Day War, and to do so to secure and recognized boundaries. In the case of Gaza, this was accomplished years ago by Israel. 242 assumes that the states that had been in control of vacated territories will move in and take over control; in the case of Gaza this is Egypt of course. Thus, it is now time for Egypt, with the assistance of the international community to make the next logical and legal move: take control of the Gaza Strip and incorporate it into your own. The people who will benefit from such a move are first and foremost the civilian population of Gaza who have been living under the yoke of the international designated Islamist terrorist rulers of Hamas. Why don't we demand of our leaders to apply 242 to Gaza now...??!!
23. #4, Saying it doesn't make it so
RickD ,   USA   (06.19.10)
Gaza has no legal govt. Ask Mohammad Abbas. The Gaza govt gained power by a coup; by throwing their opponents off rooftops. Is that what you call a legal govt? The rulers of Gaza are at war with Israel. As such, Israel has a legal right to blockade Gaza. Gaza is not a sovereign nation. Unless and until its govt makes a peace agreement with Israel it will not become a sovereign nation.
24. israel and lebanon are legally on state of war
athos ,   nice - france   (06.19.10)

27. :: Sarah BS - #11
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.19.10)
Only in your imagination would these ships be ‘blown out of the water’ just like you wishfully imagined that the IAF should carpet bomb the Gaza Strip. While your imagination always veers towards mass destruction and the mass murder of innocent civilians thankfully you are powerless in very degree to implement such sick fantasies. You best stick to imagining fake sprogs.
28. #21 Ok...
Aggs ,   Aarhus - Denmark   (06.19.10)
let me make my point clear. I think It's in Israels favor to have peace in the region! and it must do all it can to do so. Lets us not ignore reality, Hamas and the Palestinians will not stop their resistance and will keep firing rockets until they get their justice. you didn't write how many rockets and bombs Israel has fired and killed Palestinians, and you mentioned Gilad, but you forgot the 10000's of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel including children and women! ...no mention of the + 500 Israeli check-points, the apartheid wall and the illegal siege on Gaza- according to all major international humanitarian organisations, and yet you dont expect them to resist?! good luck
