31. every tear of those children is going to come back to you
abe ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.20.10)
more than 60 innocent people are in jail right now because of Burg's "rule of law" state which allows repeat sex offenders and wife beaters free to continue, but imprisons innocent people because of a loser's complaint of racism. I am afraid for you, Burg and friends, but pray that we will be saved from you.
32. Finaly someone speaks the truth !
Avi ,   Israel   (06.20.10)
And about time to, Burg should be PM its time to get tough with the chardeem and put them in their place
33. OLAM HAFUCH
SOL ,   NYC   (06.20.10)

34. This is the guy who gave up his Israeli citizenship, right?
Diamond ,   NYC USA   (06.20.10)
I guess Ynet has run out of self-flagellating Israelis and needs to bring in imports to do the job.
35. Heridim not part of the State of Israel
Harold ,   USA   (06.20.10)
This guy just put more petrol on the fire. Heridims represent a large part of Israel and they going to make lot of problems. An apple is damaged by its own worms.
36. Haredim
Baruch ,   Marin County, CA   (06.20.10)
Oh great. Just what we need. Jews fighting with one another. What's next, a separate Haredim state, too? The territories are already basically a separate state, a separate Jewish state, that is, which lives outside the law for the most part. It's basically no man's land. Which brings me to an interesting point, and that is if the religious people, whether they call themselves modern or otherwise, really had the courage to practice what they preach then they would have taken over their so-called 'territory' a long time ago. There is no mistaking the fact that historically the Land of Israel extended from the Jordan to the Mediterranean. It's just that the people who are holding the key to this are a whole lot of talk and very little action. Frankly speaking, I had it out with them a long time ago and gave up. I consider myself to be a good Jew. I did everything I was supposed to do and more. It's just that if you don't play the victim card for certain groups that preach religious faith, and pretend to be an oppressed outsider, then you are not welcome. Sad, isn't it that after all that we have been through we still have those among us who do this. This is not what the State of Israel is all about. Sorry, but somebody had to say it...
37. talk about chutzpah
esthermiriam ,   washington, dc   (06.20.10)
"...the Holy Torah, that the Haredim received on mount Sinai close to 3000 years ago." I thought the teaching was that the Torah was given to EVERY Jew in all time...
38. # 27
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.20.10)
Since when is G*d a bank ? thats news to me.
39. The Land of Israel is the home of all Jews.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.20.10)
The Jewish People have always been made up of different kinds of Jews. We have to make every effort to explain to all Jews that the Land of Israel is their home. Some of them may want to become religiously observant, and some may not - but if this Land cannot be the home of all Jews, then our State will not be able to last. A united Jewish people will not fear anti-Semitism as explained at : http://tinyurl.com/6rj7bt
40. Avrum Burg, son of Hareidi Yossel Burg should talk this way?
Esther   (06.20.10)
Only someone who was raised in Hareidi home and glitched can have the audacity to make such silly statements? Avrum, you're causing your dead father to turn over in his grave. May your children follow in your footsteps and cause YOU to turn in your grave.
41. Nice thought, Pure Haredi, but what
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.20.10)
will happen if Israel is attacked again? Are you going to depend on non-Charedi soldiers to bail you out? And who will pay for the public services that you all use? and the medical services? and etc.? You really need to think this through.
42. Thank you #19, Secular Jew, for your
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.20.10)
thoughtful reply to my post. You have me and the Readers a good deal to reflect on.
43. When you learn how to intergrate, maybe you will learn peace
Freedom ,   Democracy   (06.20.10)
Living in tribes and not as a fully functioning nation, and being unable to intergrate with others is how the Jews were living thousands of years ago. Instead of moving forward you've gone backwards into segragation. Not only from the world but from your own.
44. Burg has already shown he is not part of the country
elianna ,   Jerusalem   (06.20.10)
45. # 27 Haredi cities
Philip ,   Afula , Israel   (06.20.10)
Who would be doing the work to maintain these Haredi cities..............the famously work shy haredim themselves ? They will first need to learn that all work is honourable.
46. with wife only work to feed six children, he is not Haredi
observer   (06.20.10)
47. oh shut up, lefties r also notpart of anystate
ghostq   (06.20.10)
the only thing that lefties do r riots and demonstrations against the state, so I think lefties r in the same level of Haredim, they hate the state that protects them.
48. At last! someone stood up and said what we all think!
Talula ,   Israel   (06.20.10)
The Haredim are nothing but a burden and a drain on this country. Ship them all off down south (or better still out the country ) - away from civilization and civilized people.
49. Burg , at least has , contrary to the charidim
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.10)
served in the IDF . His ideas ? there is "freedom of speech" , some rightists and religious ones want for them , but not for others . That he is a leftist don't change anything . He is right , charidim are only a big BURDEN to the State , even if some of them "contribute" to the general public. But they do it also to be "rewarded in the olam habah" .
50. burg and the haredi
thinkagain ,   jerusalem israel   (06.20.10)
The very first who have the right to stay in israel, are the Haredi. They are the ones who keep integrally the contract ,through which whe could claim Israel:The TORAH.
51. Who is he to talk? ( Or even when he is right he is wrong)
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.20.10)
Burg goes everywhere he can telling whoever he can how horrible the state of Israel is. He is one-long- non- stop accusation of Israel. It often seems that what he really wants is to destroy the state. So his remark here suggests that he is engaged in wishful thinking. Nonetheless the censure of those who feel no need to contribute to the State of Israel , who are living in a close- minded 'selfish' world is in place.
52. All generalizations are false
bruce ,   hula valley israel   (06.20.10)
All generalizations are false, including this one.
53. #29 the answer is yes
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.10)
A short list: Yossi Beilin met PLO Abi Nathan illegally broadcast "Voice of Peace" Anat Kam stole and sold top secret documents Uri Blau keeps stolen top secret governments Vaanunu sold classified photographs Regular destruction of property and assault of policemen in Bilin and Naalin Racist assaults against Jews living in Simon the Just neighborhood. Yiftah Spector incites insubordination and rebellion in the army Ehud Barak makes incorrect declarations and sets-up fake organizations to get political donations. Ehud Olmert accepts "gifts" from people who need his help, for example in the Holyland affair.
54. To 53 , and what about the charidim and rightists ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.10)
7 charidim in prison for bribes and so Ehud Olmert was a Likud man Charidim insulting police officers charidim causing damage to public property Charidim not obeying court orders . Rightist one murders 27 worshippers this is a list made without research , must be much more
55. the core issue
(06.20.10)
this is not a ashkenazi/ sefardi issue as portrayed. 12 of the fathers placed in jail were actually sefardic! it has to do solely with religious standards, which are obviously a reflection of what hundreds of thousands of people support, weather you personally agree or not.
