I would not be celebrating yet, if I were you. The siege is not going to disappear. The 'easing' is mostly intended to show that the siege is not aimed at civilians or collective punishment, and it never was. As everyone says, including the policymakers in Israel, as well as the UN and Hamas, there won't be a significant change for the population in Gaza. So at all the people who are concerned that this easing might send the wrong message, especially to Hamas or the flotilla organizers (not much of a difference, really), I would not worry as much. Hamas will have to downplay the whole thing for else they will reveal that there is no crisis in Gaza. At the same time, the rest of the world will be reminded that the blockade is not aimed at harming civilians. Sure, there will be people (there ARE people) who will use the situation to make Israel look bad, like MK Zoabi, but such propaganda will not change anything. Only people who already hate Israel will buy it. I'm not saying that the world opinion will change, but this is a good move. It weakens the position of both the Hamas and flotilla organizers, for it shows that there is no humanitarian issues in Gaza. There is a risk that people will look at Israel in a bad way, like #7 here, but he would think that no matter what the outcome.
