Sagi   (06.22.10)
I responded to you but the editors did not publish my response. I promise you that I did not use any foul language, I never do. I also promise you that I did not attack you personally. I aired my views in regard to religion in general and its influence on the human mind.
32. The traitor Anat Kam was only under house arrest!

33. #28 Where in halacha does it state
Hypocrisy in High ,   Court at its best   (06.22.10)
that the law of the land is the law even if it means forcing your children to go to school with children who are less religious? Yossele Shuchmacher was returned to his parents because the Supreme Court ruled that it’s the parents job to educate their children. Today, about 50 years later, the same anti-religious Court decided that it’s the “Supreme Court’s” job to educate the children if they’re... chareidim.
34. The rights of parents to decide
Gila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.22.10)
This case has nothing to do with racism, it is simply that there are a substantial number of parents who want their children schooled in what they consider to be a religiously appropriate environment. There are Sephardim as well as Ashkenazim who subscribe to this opinion. I thought it was the right of every parent to decide how they wanted their child educated. I guess in Israel, which I thought was supposed to be a freedom loving democracy, these human rights are simply not respected. Actually to JAIL parents because of this issue is not only insane, it is completely wrong and inappropriate.
35. Racism by Rabbinical decree
Daniel ,   DC (and Tel Aviv)   (06.22.10)
Yet again the Haredi Rabbis incite their people into doing exactly the WRONG thing. The answer given that ancestors chose not to mingle with Sephardic Jews just means they knew no better back then. One would hope we've moved ahead a bit in 62 years. Clearly though people who worship and idolize the clothing of the 16th Century fashion in Poland may be a bit stuck. The concept that a Rabbi is above the law shows how foolish these people have become. It is like an evil Shchem that uses racism as a means to segregate. Jail the Rabbis, the fathers and the mothers all!
36. Terry, Eilat, gets it wrong again
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.22.10)
This is not about Haredi schools..it is about CONTEMPT OF COURT !!! If everybody ignores court decisions, then there will no longer be a civil society for Terry or any of us

I believe that in Israel *any* Jewish child ,as long as their parents want and them themselves desire, should be able to join a religious school without *any* precondition, being this school orthodox, ultraorthodox,Haredi,Hassidi or what ever. I do not agree though that the currilum that these religious schools impose should be changed by the secular State and that their patterns should be changed in *any* way, but, as long as their standards are kept the way they choose, any Jew who desires to join ,must have the doors open. This is just and correct.

Thanks to you I found it, Terry.

Birdi ,   Israel   (06.22.10)
Nope, Terry didnt get it wrong again. This IS about the decisions the Haredi parents made about not sending their kids to a school etc. This is about LEADING up to contempt of court. Btw, Terry has never written "it wrong" in any of his posts. He is always spot on & correct.

Well said, Leah.
41. Emanuel mothers
Ploni Almoni ,   Switzerland   (06.22.10)
It seems that his honor the Judge Edmon Goldstone Levy lost all touch with reality. Most of the mothers he is sending to jail are of Sephardic descent as a punishment for being racists towards the Sephardim. Or am i dreaming?
42. Isaiah 58
Debra under the palm ,   Tzionz Hill   (06.22.10)
Well you are not the only land with courts housing deficient judges..........open to bribes, leading reprehensible life styles themselves and part of ungodly organisations, all theory and no sense, it usually comes out in the obituary columns after they have passed on to meet their maker and ultimate judge. Most uncomfortable for most of them I suspect.
43. "The rabbis are above the law." This
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.22.10)
statement from one of the Charedi mothers pretty much encapsulates the problem in Israel with respect to the Charedim and the State. There is an ongoing but mostly uncreative tension which continues to weaken our resolve and our ability to function as a united whole. We will probably have to choose either the principle of secularity and democracy or religion (Jewish) as features of the nation. I think we can no longer have it both ways because internally we are falling apart.
44. we have become a joke, because........
(06.22.10)
The state of Israel has become a Joke all around the world, because at most difficult times of the state of Israels history, heading towards war etc. we are busy throwing a few week Haready WOMEN in jail. Who cares about them? ignore them, why are we giving them so much negative attention? they are anyway NOT going to change their attitude towards the state, ignore them and leave them alone. Stop publicizing every time these women sneeze. Those women are stronger then we think, the have always been listening to the Haready giant Torah leaders, this has gone on for thousands of years, and Haradim have been in Jail, killed, tortured... but in the end Hareadim NEVER give in. A good heading for this would be; "Emmanuel mothers are like eggs, the more you boil them the harder they become" or "Haredim are like eggs, the more you will boil them the harder they will become" Time for the State to wake up and loosen up, it will save millions of Shekel of OUR tax money, OH YES we have become a big joke, all caused internal by the leaders and judges of the state of Israel. Lets wake up and smell the coffee.
45. To # 31 Sagi
Christian ,   Sweden   (06.22.10)
Thank you, Sagi, and be assured that my intention was not to attack you personally. I have often read your talkbacks so I fully know your feelings about religion and I respect them thouhg it makes me sadden to see so much hate. I wish you everything good.
46. So far I see only Sephardi hatred to Ashkenazim
Abe ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.22.10)
The Haredi refusal to study with girls who watch TV is not nearly as harmful as the informant --> jailing of the Ashkenazim because they are Ashkenazim. The sephardim of Immanuel are behaving with a real vengeance reserved for real enemies. They should ask themselves what they would do to the state if offered the chance to feel powerful. Their behavior proves it. They should go back to school to learn right and wrong
47. Michael, you've got it wrong
(06.22.10)
Never in the history of Israel has anyone ever been jailed for contempt of court. Until the Emmanuel case...
48. Deliberate slander in this article (Ashkenazi and Sephardic)
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (06.23.10)
"we won't agree to unite the we won't agree to unite the (Ashkenazi and Sephardic) classes. They didnt say this. You deliberately paraphrased and interpreted what they meant by inserting your own proper nouns, showing off to everyone how racist they are in your opinion. They probably meant (chareidi and non chareidi). Thank you for showing your true colors. You should be sued for libel.
