1. This should be all over!
David ,   Norway   (06.23.10)
This demo even made it to Norwegian news! If all Jews and supporters of Israel took to the streets, in a peaceful manner, we could fully show how many poeple stand for Israel!
2. I was there and it was wonderful
Israel and democracy ,   Paris   (06.23.10)
and so heartwarming to see so many people for Israel. We love Israel because we love freedom. We, not only as jews but as french citizen, should always support democracy and we will always fight for justice. And justice is on Israel's side. I truly hope that Gilad Shlait will be freed soon. During the demonstration, a video of Noam Shalit was displayed to the whole crowd of supporters as well as the video when Gilad Shalit speaks. I think it was the most heartbreaking moment. It was terribly painful. The separation from its family is terrible, he is only 24 and should be with his friends and his future wife by now. Let's hope for some spot of sanity and humanism from the hamas monsters in Gaza.
3. Are you kidding me?
ZAvenger ,   San Diego, USA   (06.23.10)
10,000 people according to organizers and you tell that "everybody" was there? There are at least 300,000 Jews in Paris and if they could forget their business or their cowardice at least once, you could have minimum 10 times more people. Allons, you can gather more than 10,000 just for an Enrico Macias concert. Also Black Federation, you meant the only 3 guys who are not Jews haters? and 500 Christians. How many of those to protest along with the jihadists and other arabs against Israel every week ? Wake up Jews!
4. Merci Beaucoups!
emanon ,   USA   (06.23.10)
Maybe there is some chance Europe won't be all headscarves and terrorists.
5. Free Gilaad Shalit
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (06.23.10)
NOW !! We are with Shalit's family.
6. occupational hazard of being a soldier
grant ,   york uk   (06.23.10)
getting captured, getting killed, comes with being a soldier really, however, being a civilian, being captured being killed, not fair at all
7. #6 occupational hazard
Madeleine ,   Israel   (06.23.10)
No-one i sdenying that getting captured is an "occupastional hazard" (he was kidnapped, not captured in battle). But in all the 4 years since then, he has been denied all and every right under the Geneva convention - not even a visit by the Red Cross, not allowed to write or receive letters - nothing, while Palis in Israeli jails get tv, phone calls, visits by Red Cross, family, access to books, study material - you name it.
8. Liberating kidnapped Israeli soldiers.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.23.10)
When Israel makes exchanges that are unequal, it is only natural for Israel’s enemies to view the illegal kidnapping of Israeli civilians and soldiers, and the violation of their legal rights in captivity, as an extremely profitable activity. Furthermore, because Israel eschews the death penalty, Israel keeps terrorists alive in Israeli custody and thereby inadvertently creates a “bait” situation where terrorist groups attempt to free their men by ransoming newly-kidnapped Israelis. 9. Free both Shalit and Palestinians in Israel's prisons
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.23.10)
Israel arrests many for security reasons, in that they may not be terrorist yet but could become one, maybe friends or family of terrorists. Most the elected leadership of Gaza was put in Israel prisons for 4yrs after Shalit was taken. There is little middle ground any more, since they get hit by both sides and both sides spin the true for their own goals.
10. # 3
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.23.10)
10.000 demonstrators for Gilad Shalit are better than no demonstrators !!
11. To #6
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (06.23.10)
LOL ! Civilians?? They were jihadists trained to combat! have you seen the videos ??Do you still believe that garbage propaganda of "Human rights activists". They were singing : Khaybar khaybar jews, the army of muhammad will return. The Tribe of the jews of Khaybar was slayed by muhammad, women were raped and kids were slaved, that day muhammad and his army killed 900 jews. Don't be an ignorant, open your ears and eyes... As i always say , you have eyes but you don't see, you have ears but you don't hear.
12. #6 So should Isreal kill all the 10000 Pals in their prisons
SB   (06.23.10)
Oh, those are not soldiers, I forgot, they just carry weapons and suicide vests in civil clothes. It would cost a lot less to Isreal to kill all those that they are catching. Hey, I am sure that you would love to see those that killed your relatives being released and I am sure that you would happily move out of your house to leave it to someone that claims that it belongs to them becasue they can't stand you and don't believe in your existence. Oh... you would share your house, would you? No better, you would volunteer it and move elsewhere. Yet, Israel does not kill them even though many of them have killed. We, tax payers are maintaining them and they even have rights to be visited! How about that?
13. RE: occupational hazard of being a soldier
Zak ,   Brooklyn, US   (06.23.10)
Grant - next time you walk down the street and get punched in the face, I guess you'll excuse that act as occupaional hazard of walking down the street.
14. to #6 do your homework
Leonie ,   Israel   (06.23.10)
Soldiers captured in the course of war are entitled to visits by the Red Cross and letters from home etc etc. Gilad Shalit was not in any war activity but guarding the Israeli side of the border with Gaza when he was abducted by terrorists . 2 IDF soldiers were killed in the unprovoked act of violence. The "human rights" activists on the flotillas the world is weeping over, refused to take a letter from Gilad's family to Gilad on their "humanitarian mission" . Terrorists who have murdered Israelis in cold blood and are serving their sentence in Israeli jails, have air conditioning, visits, letters, parcels, cable tv, books, they can study and even get a degree! I say move the terrorists closer to the border with Gaza so the rockets they send us from Gaza might take care of them in a different way to the way Israel takes care of those who hate and wish to destroy her.
15. Viva la France. But we are disaster at world cup but we not
Cohen ,   Paris   (06.23.10)
Forget shalit
16. re #6
james ,   wythenshawe, UK   (06.23.10)
being a civilian, wittingly or unwittingly giving cover to terrorists as human shield during their attacks is not fair to the professional soldiers and increases their occupational hazard
17. 310,000 Jews in Paris, "ZAvenger",
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.23.10)
which is a remarkable presence considering the reason for the outing was one issue and one issue alone, that of Gilad Shalit. And talking about Jews being cowards, that's a remarkable accusation coming from someone who uses a "pen name" without even his email address. I guess it takes bravery to accuse others while hiding behind your anonymity. And you call yourself, "Avenger"? Go back to your adolescent video games, silly boy.
18. The real occupational hazard
shrinkDave ,   miami usa   (06.23.10)

29. Guilad
roselyne Germon ,   paris   (06.29.10)
How can you compare a spy and the kidnapping of Guilad. Vanunu has a lawyer and can see his family, Guilad is alone and even the Red Cross can't meet him. What you write is a disgrace from a person living in a democracy.
