1. Release the Palestinian prisoners
Cynic #2   (06.24.10)
in return for the release of Shalit. But then again Shalit is a pawn in the tug of war game between Hamas and Israel. And remember that there are around 10,000 Palestinian prisoners some of whom have broken the Guiness book of records as the longest serving. You might consider them terrorists but they see themselves as fighting for the freedom of their people, just like Samson and Spartacus.
2. Shameless
Woody ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.24.10)
I'm gonna go ahead and say it. American Zionists are making a good show of how shameless Jews can be. Totally shameless and manipulative when it comes to promoting self-interest. This is exactly why people hate.
3. Hey! That is a great one for the activists to be on.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.24.10)
4. 4 years and still counting
Resistor   (06.24.10)
What can the might of Israel do to free GS?? Nothing!
5. No. 1
Mavis   (06.25.10)
Another idiot. No wonder the arabs are laughing about the West. You people wanting murderers free instead of what they deserve... the noose tightly around their necks. get a grip !!!
6. #1 - most Pals in jail are either terrorist or criminals
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
with long wrap sheets. It doesn't matter their age or gender, if they steal, smuggle a weapon, or attempt an attack, they broke the law, are guilty, and in jail. Shalit's only "guilt" was that he wore an IDF uniform inside Israeli territory. The kidnappers never accused him of being involved in any attack or action against "Palestinians". But we will comply - One "Palestinian" prisoner...for Shalit.
7. #1 - "freedom fighters" just is killing children?
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
Tough to consider them "freedom fighters" when they circumnavigate IDF positions in order to attack buses and pizza shops to kill ONLY civilians. Certainly not the "self-defense" these terrorists claim it to be. Infact, the offer for freedom and a State is there, they need only to renounce violence and end the aggression. They chose the path of violence instead of the sure path of Statehood. Now you know what their true intentions are.
8. #4 - I can see why Hamas hold Shalit so close...
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
because they know the "might of Israel" will be swift and harsh the minute Hamas can't use him as a human shield anymore.
9. #2 - please explain why this is shameless?
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
To get the world to see the very hypocrisy they promote....to demand even the most basic of human rights for Shalit? There's nothing shameless in that at all. There is much shame in the fact that the world has been pretty silent in a case of blatant human rights violations but vocal about a blockade during war-time against a listed terrorist group who declared the war.
10. To nr 2 "Cinic" - About terrorism and morality.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.25.10)
The false equivalence that “one person’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter” sanitizes terrorists while staining freedom fighters. Greek freedom fighters fought Ottoman oppression during the 19th century; bands of freedom fighters resisted Nazi oppression from forest hide-outs during World War II; Hungarian freedom fighters opposed Soviet domination in 1956. FREEDOM FIGHTERS DON’T COMMIT PREMEDITATED MURDER OF CIVILIANS. BUT ARAB TERRORISTS FROM THE PLO, HAMAS AND OTHER GROUPS INTENTIONALLY HAVE MURDERED ISRAELI NONCOMBATANTS FOR DECADES in an attempt to destroy the Jewish state and drive the Jewish people from its homeland. Gradstein and NPR’s “neutrality” in describing terrorist crimes — terrorism violates international law — falsifies the truth on which both moral judgment and journalistic description rest. 11. Safe For Jew Flotilla To Sail To UN
marge, USA   (06.25.10)
The US has no state sponsored gestapo military or settlers. So its safe to Jews to travel whenever they wish, and by whatever mode of transportation they desire.
12. Hypocrite Shalev
marge, USA   (06.25.10)
Fool Shalev says it is illegal and immoral that human rights orgs. haven't been able to visit Shalit. Ask Fool Shalev if it is illegal and amoral that Apartheid Israel has about a thousand Palestinian children imprisoned and refuse to allow their parents or human rights orgs. to visit them. The children are being sexual abused by the Gestapo IDF military. As for Shalit, he is a soldier with military training that was captured, not abducted. Palestinian children have no military training or experience to help them cope in prison away from their families. Palestinian children deserves worlds attention and to be rescued the same as Schalit.
13. #2-America-land of the free
Marilyn ,   USA   (06.25.10)
What? Obviously as Americans, we do believe in freedom. So, why wouldn't Americans be able to cry out against the evils of kidnapping in our own land, by our own statue of liberty, on our own famous Hudson river? It makes no sense.

15. Marge, what a vicious post! Socalled
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.25.10)
Palestinian children, sixteen and seventeen year olds, shoot guns, throw stones which injure and kill Israeli motorists and passengers. All prisoners receive visits from the Red Cross, are allowed visits from families, lawyers, educational opportunities and religious freedom. You simply parrot the junk found in Maan News and other propaganda websites. As to the usual critique of "apartheid", Arab citizens as well as Bedouin and Druse are allowed anywhere in the country. They don't need special passes.
16. #12 Marge. If those children's parents had taught them
Topsy Turvy ,   US   (06.25.10)
to behave, they would not be in jail. Their very parents and teachers taught them hatred and even sent them off to act against Israel. Fruits don't fall far from the tree. Better yet, what you sow, you reap.
17. Real Journalism
Participant ,   NY, USA   (06.25.10)
I have to say this title of this article is a bit misleading. I was there and there weren't "hundreds" of people. It was a decent turnout.
18. #12 - and you base your claims on...what now?
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
Even in the US, if a child under the age of 18 commits an adult crime, they most likely will be charged as an adult. Same in Israel. And 15 or 16 is not a tender age when the crime is pre-meditated murder, like being a suicide bomber. BTW - everyone in Israeli jails get visits and packages from relatives and the Red Cross, of which I do not agree with. "Palestinian children have no military training" - tell that to Hamas, PRC, and Islamic Jihad which actually have training camps...idiot.
19. #12 - an introspective question for you, Marge
William ,   Israel   (06.25.10)
What about those families of children and their leaders that would strip a youth of their innocence and send them with a bomb strapped to their body, or to smuggle weapons, or even to sing songs about the joys of being a shahid to kill Jews? From an early age, their innocence was stolen and their future set in stone by the callous "Palestinian" adults. Where is your concern or even condemnation of this, or do you deny it's existence?

i was there too and am christian by religion. i was on that flotila you see in the picture and actually, there were thousand and more participants with thousands and more people on land waving israeli flags and american flags. are you sure you were there? because it doesn't sound like you were there at all. htousands of people waving usa and israeli flags marched along the pavements by the river. you could see thousands of israeli flags from the hudson waving us through. were you really there, or, is it wishful thinking on your part that the flotila was not well attended. i believe it is both. n.y joe
