Euorpean ,   Amsterdam, ND   (06.25.10)
Is this gizer will improve Israel image? they guy who is responsible for the nuclearization of the ME? Eurpoeans despise him as the rest of the world. Change of goverement and locicies is what you need no cosmetics will do it.
2. Ridiculous
Frank ,   Canada   (06.25.10)
Israel must not appease Europeans and Arabs. Send Liberman to tell them the truth, it will bring results.
3. Seriously? That's the best they can come up with?
Tony   (06.25.10)
How exactly is sending this old idiot to shake hands with European politicians is supposed to boost Israel's image with the populace? How about they learn to manage the media and would publicly and LOUDLY expose what really happened and fauxography that followed, as was exposed by littlegreenfootballs.com
4. let him boost his image first.
Avi ,   Chicago   (06.25.10)
even third world country like Vietnam downgraded his resent visit.
5. There are no Close European Allies
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (06.25.10)
There are no Close European Allies these are the countries putting the most pressure on Israel, and what do we do send Mr. Yes Man Peres another Obama and Left Wing Favorite. He needs to be sent to a Old Age Home. Listen it's hard to defend Israel's position for one reason. No support from Israel, and also we defend a position and then Barak Peres Bibi caves in. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
6. 'lack of a diplomatic strategy'
David ,   Switzerland   (06.25.10)
They are right about that part at least. Netanjahu keeps changing his strategy every other week. It's difficult to work with someone whose actions you can't predict.
7. No, not a good time.
Hila   (06.25.10)
Anti-Israeli sentiment is very strong in Europe these days. Let Europe be busy with its own problems, budget deficit, EU and so on...When news from Israel becomes less, it might be a time to visit Europe. But visiting Europe now, when the anti-Israeli sentiments are high, will attract many activists to protest and we don't need that, we don't need yet another circle of Israel bashing.
8. Shimon is the best
gary ,   NY   (06.25.10)
Shimon Peres is the one of our best represetatives. Him and Ehud Barak are he real FMs of israel. Leiberman is not a real FM, just in name only, he stays home, they don't trust him out of the country. Its too bad Livni lets her ego in the way of a national Uniry Govt i n the country's time of need.
9. Can a French foreign minister, invite a Mexican minister to
Mini Me   (06.25.10)
visit Spain? This Israeli governement is lost, they don't know what they are doing? Just last week the German minister was denied entry, and today the "brave" Lieverman, is inviting someone else to a territoty that is not his anymore? The German who has been bailing Israel since its conception, will be very happy!!! Bravo Lieberman

15. when is this ageing drek going to retire?
Sick of Peres ,   ramat gan   (06.25.10)
This guy has been around forever. Rabin Bengurion, Golda, Shamir, Dayan, Levi Eshkol, Abba even, Sharon are all gone.... but this one hangs around forever Like a wound that never heals
16. Short story=They want Israeli Politicians they can handle!!
Alan ,   SA   (06.25.10)
17. EU should boost its PR and not Israel
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.25.10)
Israel has done nothing wrong. The nine that were killed were killed because they were about to lynch our soldiers. If maintaining good PR means agreeing that Israeli civilians and soldiers should be beaten up, shot, stabbed and killed then we should rightfully ask who needs to improve whose PR. It's certainly not Israel but certainly the EU. EU is "democratic" only in name but the anti-Semitic hatred from the Middle Ages is still there. No matter what Israel does it is hated because it is Israel. EU claims it is not anti-Semitic - it merely "criticizes" Israel. The problem is: where is EU:s self criticism? And why does the EU have no need to criticize Iran, Turkey, 22 Arab states and their war mongering, Jew hatred and anti-Semitic rhetoric? And what law of nature says that the only relation to Jews and Israel is being hostile to them and criticizing them for all eternity? Why doesn't the EU demand a natural relation of criticism against every nation on this earth? And who are the Europeans to judge us or anyone else? Where does their authority and legitimacy come from? Have the Europeans suddenly placed themselves on a pedestal from which they place themselves above International Law, above morality, above God, above laws of nature, above all non European nations and above all sovereign/independent states, pretending to be Mother Theresa and preaching love and peace to the human race when they have massacred millions of Jews, Europeans, Native Americans, Africans and Asians for centuries? Isn't in fact this European inclination towards imposing their will and their policies on Israel and the rest of the world some sort of left overs of ugly European imperialism? So EU is not anti-Semitic - it merely wants to criticize us? I see, but we Israelis elected our government and their policies reflect our opinions. We back our government. There are two reasons for hating someone: either for who he is or for what he has done. EU is delivering false accusations against Israel ("occupation", "apartheid", "land theft", they invent "Palestinians" or "Palestine" or "Palestinian" nation that have never existed in recorded history) and at the same time ignores real crimes against humanity taking place in 22 Arab states, Iran, Turkey, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, China and so on. No, Israel should merely state the truth: our right to life, our right to freedom and liberty and our right to our land. Everything else is nonsense.
18. No amount of hasbara can hide israel's crimes and racism
Rus ,   US   (06.25.10)
19. Peres is the most logical choice!
the national shrink   (06.26.10)
They can't send Barak or Livni since they'll probably get arrested. What they'll do with Peres? maximum, they can commit him to an old people house or the mentaly insane, no big loss.
20. Not S. Peres
XOXOXO   (06.26.10)
Since S. Peres is leftist He'll not be able to do a good Job. This is Avigdor Liberman's job, so let him do what he is being payed for...
21. NO MORE EXCUSES AND CRAWLING
LARRY ,   USA   (06.26.10)
FOR DEFENDING ISRAEL. AS I RECALL KENNEDY WAS GOING GET THE RUSSIAN ROCKETS OUT OF CUBA IF IT ENDED IN WW3. AND NOT ONE WAS EVER FIRED AT US TERRITORY. PRIOR. NOW HOW WOULD ENGLAND OR FRANCE REACT TO THERE CITIES BEING HIT ??? MASS RETALIATION OF COURSE . BUT THE JEW IS BORN TO TAKE CRAP FROM THE WORLD. SORRY NOT ANY MORE GET USED TO IT AND LIVE WITH IT REPECT THERE BORDERS AND EXISTANCE OR FACE MASSIVE RETALIATION WHEN YOU BACK THEM INTO A CORNER
22. Israelis have common sense --just not the ones in government
AK   (06.26.10)
How come the so many commenters here (antisemites excluded) make more more sense than Israeli government or the media. Why send Peres to Europe? You cannot do the same things over and over and expect different outcome. I don't suggest anybody should be sent to Europe; just let them know you are not pleased and will not tolerate their interference in Israel's affairs.
23. He should play with grandchildren, not screw up Israel.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.26.10)
24. It started with the Oslo Agreements
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.26.10)
After the horrible mistakes he commited as a result of his total lack of vision, Peres should keep away of politics and Media. Only a peace process with the acceptance by the Arabs to be resettled in other Arab countries had a chance to bring peace to the region. Financial compensations would be the main reason for the Arabs to accept their resettlement. The best solution for the Arabs would be to leave the borders of “greater Israel,” so that Israel could then annex the West Bank and perhaps Gaza. Advancing this solution, daily, at any occasion, might creat a new perception and bring peace. Any different solution presents a risk of an endless war. For more details: http://xrl.us/bjcgx
25. Good idea to send the father of palestine
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.26.10)
to eurabia. Pick someone like peres, Israel's most hated politician to speak for us. Let him make up his own political agenda like he was elected the head of Israel and not elected by the knesset for a ceremonial job. We are in this mess due to peres and others like him that led us down the path to destruction with their oslo accords. Those that took a despised terrorist like ara-fat and made him a respected world figure. One of those that bought terrorist armies to our borders.Armed, trained and financed them to kill Jews. Sure send peres to a solitary confinement cell in a prison here and not to talk with our enemies of 2,000 years in eurabia.
26. FM's job
Alan ,   Europe   (06.26.10)
First I have a question : isn't this the job of a FM? traveling, visiting other countries, improving diplomatic relationis? WHy isn't Lieberman doing his job? Answer : because nobody wants to shake Lieberman's hand (wrongly or rightfully, its not the point). The point is Lieberman is not doing his job properly. Lieberman should not stay in that chair any longer, glued to that desk of his. If Lieberman wants to serve his country he should try another role just not as chief Diplomat of Israel in Foreign Relations/affairs. Second ; Israel is sending Perez to travel and be seen on all TV's in Europe at prime time news hour in all European countries. This guy, no offence, represents the past and the message TV sets in Europe will broadcast is : Israel's politics haven't changed a bit, not an inch. Are you israelis sure this is a good idea? Have a nice day folks
