1. What is there to DANCE about?
kaytzad merakdim   (06.27.10)
Victory over a few dark skinned little girls? Wow, what giborim! Now try the army, and be giborim for ALL klal yisroel, not only for you own insular selves. Not interested in ALL klal yisroel though are you, as you've shown us ad nauseam lately .Still, it's an excuse for the smug tzadeikestas to buy yet another new outfit before the three weeks... a bittere gelechte
2. The issue is. . .
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (06.27.10)
It's amazing that people anywhere think this is an issue of race. It's an issue of the right of the individual to choose what is best for their child. This school apparently offers two tracks of learning - and you have to abide by the rules for either one to be accepted. It that not clear? The family rejected was rejected for that reason, not color of their skin.
3. Hurray, the racists are safely back home...

and their Rav too. Remember that . Gd certainly will. This must be put right otherwise there is no kedushah in us at all. These dancing jumping people can dance and jump afterwards, but not now, not yet.

7. Is this a privately owned school?
Robyn ,   JHB RSA   (06.28.10)
Can someone clarify whether the school was owned by the State? If its a private school owned by the chassidim I agree with them - no one should tell them how to educate their girls. If it is owned by the state they can't make such rulings; they should think of opening a private school for their girls (funded by their community) and educate them according to their philosophies.

The education stream was originally for people without TV at home. After one woman with two daughters (funded by the NIF) sued, the court ordered that the daughters could join the stream even if they did not meet the standards. The parents then started home-schooling and planned to set up a privately funded school like you suggest. The Court refused this compromise and jailed the parents.
9. #7 The Stalinist State of Israel
hillel leib   (06.28.10)
The parents of Emanuel were told that the court would not oppose them if they decided to send their daughters to school outside of Emanuel. However, when they arranged for their daughters to attend a chassidish Beis Yaakov in Bnei Brak – the Misrad Hachinuch threatened to close the school down if they accepted the girls from Emanuel. THE COURT WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO OPEN A PRIVATE SCHOOL IN EMANUEL EITHER.
