Suddenly after all the years these institutions have been based in east Jerusalem the EU feels they need extra protection and that protection must be provided by palestinians who they intend to train from scratch rather than Shin Bet or Israeli profesional security who are already highly trained & armed. The EU is trying to create a palestinian police force for east Jerusalem so when the time comes to talking about dividing the city the EU will say look the palestinians already have a police force in Jerusalem and have done for quite some time. Its creating a situation on the ground to help divide the city and Israel is sitting back debating weather they should issue gun permits to these people. Why are we not stopping it? Israel runs all of Jerusalem and the EU run nothing so why is this government allowing it. We should say if you want extra security we will provide it we are not having palestinians or anybody else in charge of security in Jerusalem. Is this government ever going to show some leadership and tell our European enemies this is our capital if you want extra security at your institutions you deal with us not palestinians and trying to create a palestinian police force for Jerusalem via the back door.

Europeans & South Americans I am Palestinian on my fathers side, and Lebanese on my mothers side. I will never refer to myself as an Arab. Others however, will refer to me as an Arab. It is our language, not our race. Asia is probably the best example of this, they're Asian but identify by their race. If you were to call a Japanese person Chinese they would be very offended by your ignorance as would Lebanese people if you called them Iranian. You would not take the situation in Korea and base judgement on the entire Asian population because of it. So why do you do it with "Arabs"? Almost every race and religion has commited horrific acts, these acts do not reflect everyone. Our language does not define our race and/or religion or who we are as individuals. We are not the same and do not appreciate generalizations.

Baroness Ashton and the EU are trying to build kudos & their reputation by trying to bully Israel into a quick fix solution. They see humanitarian aid as a 'soft power' - the help they give to the Palestinians isn't done out of humanitarian concerns but to have leverage over Israel. This soft-power should be removed & replaced with Israeli funded assistance. It may be a drain on the State but better than allowing foreign powers exert their power. Ashton is primary concerned about making a reputation for herself - whilst weak boarders will cause long term damage to Israel. You only have to look at how disastrous shared cities after World War I. The League of Nation referendums on which territory should go to which country encouraged foreign powers to stir endlessly and was a major factor in WWII.

Just since 2002, many, many "Palestinians" have streamed into Jerusalem to be inside the security wall that went up. In 1948, tons of Arabs were sent into that part of Jerusalem to take possession of Jewish property after the ethnic cleansing, and as a stronghold by the Jordanians. In the 1930s, thousands and thousands of Arabs arrived as illegal economic migrants and went where ever there was work. Jerusalem happened to be one of those places that saw lots of investment. Whether they are locals or not, they cannot be armed and act as a separate unit outside of Israeli security, the way Hizbullah operates outside of LAF.
