1. The legitimization of terrorists.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.29.10)
What we are witnessing is a coordinated effort to legitimize a genocidal terrorist group of fanatics similar to the effort to legitimize the PLO in the period before Oslo. The Obama administration is doing the same, no surprise that the Eurowimps are on the same page. There is method to their madness, however. The existence of Hamas is an obstacle to the formation of a Palestinian state. The intention is to remove the obstacle by legitimizing them & then forcing Abbas to join some kind of phoney Unity Gov't. ..... No one cares about the consequences, no one cares about our security, no one cares if some Palestinian failed terrorist state continues the conflict. ''Peace'' is not the goal & neither is our survival as a sovereign Jewish state. Quite the contrary, the intention is to correct the ''mistake'' of 1948.
2. positive movements - like more demands for Shalit?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (06.29.10)
Russia says that they are seeing "positive movements" from Hamas. What "positive movements"? - Threatening to increase the demands to release Gilad Shalit? - Threatening to kidnap "more soldiers or officers"? - Weekly and daily missile attacks on Israel? You would think that Russia, of all countries, would know you do not negotiate with Muslim terrorists.
3. Talking with the Georgians and the
jason white ,   afula, israel   (06.29.10)
chechnians more important!
4. Talk to Chechens first.

5. Russian FM: Talking to Hamas important
gregg bowman ,   Parksville, Canada   (06.29.10)
This is idiocy and nonsense!!! You do not talk to terrorists, negotiate with terrorists or in any way communicate with terrorists....you simply annihilate them!!! What can you expect from Russia.... warm regards...Gregg Bowman
6. How we should answer?
Gerry   (06.29.10)
yes, they are talking to us every day by rockets and motar shells. How we should answer? gerry
7. #1, a minor correction
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.29.10)
According to the Hamas Charter, the religious obligation to exterminate the Jews in Israel officially started in 1939.
8. More Russian blah blah and hot air
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.29.10)
It's pathetic when the mighty and powerful Russian nation tells the little Jews that they should start negotiating with Islamic terrorists. Let's just wait to see Lavrov convince the Chechens and other groups that they should "engage in diplomacy."
9. Talking to Chechens also important?
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (06.29.10)
10. "Talking to terror"
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.29.10)
Russia has caught the western disease (though not yet Israels but the signs are worrying) that giving into terror is the answer . Chechyna should be the test case for the ussian to practice what they preach
11. do russians put same pressure on hamas to talk?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.29.10)
12. Israel and its enemies
Observer ,   Remscheid - Germany   (06.29.10)
Whoever has any doubts about the agenda of Hamas should look at this here: http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2527.htm
13. #5
Harold ,   USA   (06.29.10)
Shamir and Bagin were considered as terrorists by the British government but then both sat and had dinner with Queen Elizabeth after the creation of Israel. If Israel wants peace, it has to talk to its enemies. Wise-up
14. #1
Harold ,   USA   (06.29.10)
Both Israeli PMs Shameer and Bagin were wanted by the British Authority as terrorists but the situation changed after the creation of Israel. Both sat with Queen Elizabeth and had dinner with her. So the same policies have to be adopted to all organizations who are described as terrorist by Israel.
15. #2
Harold ,   USA   (06.29.10)
What about the ten thousands of Palestinian who were grabed from their homes in the middle of the night, while they were asleep, and put in jail. They have families and friends too. Wise-up.
16. #15 - you mean the ones that have been convicted?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (06.29.10)
There are not "tens of thousands" held in our prisons total, ;et alone held ex-judicially. Close Guantanamo and then talk about Israel's prison system. Gilad was kidnapped and is being held in conditions against the Geneva Convention, while the Palestinians in Israel's prisons got trials, and they get visitors, medical treatment, college education (at Israel's expense) and etc. How can you compare them? Check your facts
17. Russia is a serious country wth her own affairs
(06.29.10)
18. Harold - why don't you wise up yourself?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.29.10)
Harold sells us the Pal propaganda line: "What about the ten thousands of Palestinian who were grabed from their homes in the middle of the night, while they were asleep, and put in jail" Which Palestinians, Harold? Get it through your thick head that a large percentage of these guys are active militants who have carried out or helped carry out terrorist attacks. Hamas wants hundreds of their deadliest convicted agents released. These guys committed mass murder... they weren't innocent guys at home in bed in the middle of the night. Wise-up, Harold. Hamas and Fatah want us to release their top militants (we call them terrorists after they carry out attacks that kill unarmed civilians). As well, you seem to forget that Hamas spits in the face of international law. #2 was reminding you that Hamas refuses to obey the international law that demands the Red Cross has access to Shalit. Every single Palestinian prisoner gets visitation rights from their lawyers and the Red Cross. Wise up, Harold, Shalit is being held illegally in contravention of international law. Wise up, Harold. We aren't very happy about releasing Palestinian convicted murderers from our jails. They weren't grabbed. They were arrested, tried, and sentenced. Wise up, Harold. You're too much of a propaganda dupe.
19. Is Israel a strategic liability rather than a strategic ...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (06.29.10)
Is Israel a strategic liability rather than a strategic asset for the US? An Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear installations will prevent a regional nuclear arms race by freeing Arab states of the need to develop their own nuclear arsenals and so prove that a strong Israel enhances regional stability. Israel's willingness and capacity to effectively strike Iran's nuclear installations will be the ultimate proof that Arabists are wrong to castigate Israel as a strategic burden. As to the relations between the USA and Iran : http://xrl.us/be48qr
20. Russia flexing its own super powers muscle RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (06.29.10)
I realize Russia likes to flex its own super powers muscle and so dominate all peace talks to the point where Israel is treated like criminals no not a country but Russia may learn some day such under handed methods may some day cost them dearly and so they may bully Israel but they better hope I never get a miracle RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
21. It's More Important to DEFEAT Hamas
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.29.10)
Israle has forgotten the concept of Victory and has been limited to non effective blockade and even that is being ended by Israel's friends and enemies alike. Better dump Ehud and all the other quisling leaders who can only bend their knees to Washington and grow some teeth real fast
22. What a surprise! That is not what Russia would have done.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.30.10)
The problem would have been solved long ago and there would have been no one to talk to, because they would have crushed them out of existence.
