Horrible horrible horrible.
2. peace talks
Alexandre Chinovich   (07.07.10)
They call it PEACE, but it's Israel's CAPITULATION. Is it sufficient for Obama to smile at Netanyahu that he agrees to divide Jerusalem?
3. In the present photo op., the two men
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/ashdod   (07.07.10)
appear to be equal. each respectfully looking at each other right in the eyes. I'd guess the handshakes are firm. All in all, I'd surmise the two men are taking each other with undisguisedly serious intent. A good sign!
4. A good new beginning
Samuel Prime ,   Canada   (07.07.10)
I hope that these good words are followed up by US actions that are faithful to these positive and constructive comments. I am willing to change my views on Obama if I see a consistently positive and supportive attitudes toward Israel henceforth.

7. It's all BS!
Jenny Bernstein ,   LA, USA   (07.07.10)
Obama needs the Jewish and pro Israel vote in November so he's turning on the charm. He's nothing more than a salesman. Pathetic!
8. Real Peace: Free All Of Palestine
Arabi Ibn Arabi ,   Surroundings   (07.07.10)
We have to prepare everything and anything to scare (terrorize) the enemy. Leave Palestine and have all the peace you want.
9. No country has "unique" security reqs..
Karl   (07.07.10)
No country has unique security requirements such that to have an undeclared nuclear program that includes an unknown amount of nuclear / atomic bombs.. If it is claimed that any country does then simply there is no need for an international organization that monitors nuclear programs of any country. So do many other countries have "unique requirements"..
10. #9
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (07.07.10)
Every country has unique security requirements. As for the International Organization you refer to. Countries, like Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia which want foreign aid to develop nuclear technology agree not to develop nuclear weapons. Countries which want to reserve the right to have nuclear weapons, don't sign and don't get assistance. If they are smart enough like the Indians, they develop their nuclear weapons without the assistance. Why is this so difficult to understand.
11. #7 is right....

why don't you leave israel instead? and you shall have the peace (that you actually don't seek)...
14. Stupid, it's all about politics and the elections
Christian ,   Sweden   (07.07.10)
Obama did what he deemed necessary to limit the ongoing erosion of his domestic political base, but that does not change the fact that Israel is a stone in his political shoe.

16. Hey Observer: US support still high
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.07.10)
Dream on, loser. The majority of American voters show in every single poll that they support Israel. What do you think? That American voters support the Palestinians who regularly chant "death to America"? Are you crackers? Of course Americans support Israel? They see the Palestinian suicide bombers killing their Israeli allies and any foreigners who happen to walk by - including Americans, they remember the Palestinians attacked an Israeli diplomatic mission in Gaza and killed two Americans - and Hamas never bothered to look for the killers. America supports Israel, where you have NEVER seen Jews get together and protest against America. America knows that. We support them and they support us.

If you are so pro-nuclear then you shouldn't complain about Iran, Korea, Iraq, Syria... or any other country in developing them and or having them....after all they all have the right and certainly they have the capability with all those students in Nuclear Engineering related subjects through-out the world. The NPT, consists of 1- NON-PROLIFERATION : meaning non-transfer, non-assistance, non-induction of nuclear technology of nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devises", similarly parties to the NPT can not seek, receive or manufacture nuclear weapons, and agree that the IAEA is to verify this. 2: DISARMAMENT: Signatories agree to ease international tension and blabla.. to some day completely disarm the nukes and relative systems they have.. 3: PEACEFUL USE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY : Allows and agrees on the transfer of nuclear tech. and materials to NPT signatories for the development of civilian nuclear energy programs, as long as they can demonstrate that their nuclear programs are not being used for development of nukes. Leaving the treaty : the NPT allows a state to leave the treaty if "extraordinary events, related to the subject matter of this Treaty, have jeopardized the supreme interests of its country", giving three months' (ninety days') notice. The state is required to give reasons for leaving the NPT in this notice." The idea behind not-signing the treaty is to not have it limit / restrict the possession of nuclear weapons, its transfer (aka sale), or to cause any ethical debate with other NPT countries...etc. On this front is India, Israel and Pakistan. In 2006 regardless of the NPT, the US - Bush - Congress gave India "peaceful US civilian nuclear technology"... Israel.. well I have no idea, but would be interesting to find out who gave Israel their tech, high on my list is the US and France.. SO in essence you are right the NPT is a JOKE for a treaty that suits only the select few, but on the other hand it also provides inspection, as in most cases self-inspection is a recipe for disaster.

Another good post Brian but don,t you wonder ,as i do, why these illiterate Pal estinian peasants persist in posting childish threats and other nonsense over which they have no control (the threats)on a pro-Israeli/Zionist blog ,i for one don,t bother posting pro-Israeli/Zionist news/comments on Arab (al -Jazeera )blogs as it,s rather pointless trying to lecture the illiterate brainwashed Palestinian peasants on those type of blogs, care to comment?
20. Obama will never ever be a friend of Israel
Al   (07.07.10)
Obama is in the tank..he is losing finacial support from the very ones who put him into office, namely Jews. He is done..Nothing he says and nothings he does has any worth. He is suckering you. Fool you once, same on him...fool you twice shame on you.
21. I don't like Netanyahu's profile.It is a dangerous profile.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.07.10)
Note as he behaved recently with Feiglin, next with Livni and then to Lieberman. In the past he gave in Hebron. Now,look at this meeting's conclusion: "two leaders reached a silent agreement according to which Israel will not be obligated to announce the extension formally." This means that Netanyahu *will screw up Israel* silently, without public uproar. I don't like this kind of "paternalistic"profile. This "father"do not consider the tears of his children, considering that children are just children and only he knows what must be done "for the good of the children" I think Netanyahu is even more dangerous than Olmert. Be aware because the freeze * will be extended* and 'bibi' * will give in Israel to enemies* without uproar and with a look that he is very nice and is pleasing the rightist coalision. I think Bibi should have be kicked out before he does grave damages.
22. What was this meeting?A meeting of dictators?
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.07.10)
"two leaders reached a silent agreement according to which Israel will not be obligated to announce the extension formally." Israeli public must not accept such thing. This is called CENSORSHIP.
23. Hey Observer: slight correction
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.07.10)
My apologies to Talkback readers, it was an American diplomatic mission that the Palestinians attacked. Hamas, of course, couldn't care less to find the murderers of the two Americans. Odds are they're on the Hamas payroll and/or under Hamas protection. And you think Americans prefer these people over Israel?

ummmm....do you know the history of israel and also the present day threats?
25. #24
Karl   (07.07.10)
Any country can quote its own history as an excuse for the right to have nukes with no exceptions what so ever. Though there is a case of usefulness of such weapons.. In case of Israel, nukes that it 'possesses' or 'doesn't posses' are not a deterrent for its attackers nor has it been a deterrent for war if you look in the past and I seriously doubt them to be a useful tool to be used in war or against insurgents, as it is not logical to have a nuclear wasteland on your doorstep. So.. my point still stands...
26. Mr. Benhorin, you must be a political naive dolt
m   (07.07.10)
Obama is only interested in winning back the WHOLE Jewish vote (80%) for the next November, after he dropped Israel to the dogs and kicked our PM in the face. I just want to see what you will write after that fateful date, if he succeds.
27. To AL: Obama is Learning the Hard Way
Dav Lev ,   Burbank.CAUSA   (07.07.10)
To Al: I know a few people who are sociopaths. Simply put, they dont trust anyone. Is Obama creating that distrust among we zionist Jews I ask? According to pundits, he has kept Israel technologically ahead of its enemies..thats quite a statement considering Iran/Russian/Syrian supplies and arms developmnet. Israel still has the airpower, long range missles, and of course 500 high fusion nukes, on 4 platforms. Only 25 and 5 are needed to destroy Iran/Syria., history. And they know it. Israel's satellites can pinpoint any spot on the planet, for its Jeircho Missiles. Hez/Hamas are irritants, but in an all out confrontation, everything south of the Litani will become glass..and Hamas's bunkers vulnerable to bunker busters, etc.Obama did get the message however, that w/oJewish support (sometimes to a fault and also disparate), his party is trumpted by the more pro-Israel Republicans (and less taxes besides and spending on wasteful programs). To undermine him is not smart. He is our Pres.like it or not, and is fighting theTaliban (our enemy) and tempering Pakistan, a Muslim country with the bomb.

By leaving Palestine you mean, leave all the territory from Kiryat Shmona down to Eliat and from Ashdod to Arad? You must be kidding, right? DREAM ON!

He's not just afraid to lose the Jewish vote, but the votes of those, who've started to realize that, all the grandiose, albeit empty, talk notwithstanding, they've elected a used car salesman. November 2010 will be fun....

Hal ,   Usa   (07.07.10)
I agree but would add that there are many posters that grind their axes on Obama that have a fundamental lack of understanding of how the US govt works either structurally or politically. Sorry to disappoint the foaming at the mouth crowd but most of the heated anti Obama rhetoric is nonsense on it's face. The proof is almost always in ways that are not reported on CNN or Fox News for a variety of secuity reasons. Eisenhower was not particularly disposed to Israel and people often forget that Bush the edlder's Secretary of State James Baker said " F--k the Jews" regarding the political support of Israel and it's peculiar security needs. Nixon any of you right wingnuts? Many of the W worshipers have yet to fathom the great harm that his reckless escapade in Afganistan and the blunderous invasion of Iraq did to not only Israel's security, but the US as well. Hopefully, we will all live long enough to learn just what was the relationship between the Bush's and the Bin Laden family business. Even Jack Kennedy needed time to get his legs under him early in his presidency, so everyone needs to seriously chill out and give the man a chance. For those predisposed to hatfulness, you can do as you like, but I would not be surprised to see many of the same haters eating plenty of crow over the next few years. Also, many of you can't have it both ways. Either this President is weak on terrorism and prosecuting the war on Al Quida, or there is significantly more action against targets in Pakistan against Taliban and Al Quida targets under Obama than W. The FBI is still uncovering plots and arresting plotters so where is your proof of his hindering the process. You can try but you cannot have it both ways. Also, Rahmm Emannuel is nobodys sock puppet and if you believe he is some kind of dupe to Obama, you need to give up the Kool-Aid.
