I can't figure why Israel lets all the world tell them what they can do in their own land. You can't build here or there. Abbas in Lebanon says you can't go up on the mount. Who is this guy that can say what Israel can and can not do. Obama tells Israel what to do. I don't get it....I think it's time Israel to stand up for your self and do what is good for Israel. God bless...

Dealing with the arabs is like dealing with a constricting snake: for every breath you exhale, the snake wraps tighter making you breathe even more shallow until you are forced to relax your breathing again. As soon as Israel ceded the land to the terrorstinians, the terrorstinians immediately declared victory and asked for more land. The precedent was established with Gaza, so it is only a matter of time before Israel does it again. The arabs will continue to demand more land until there are no more Jews in Israel because there will be no more Israel. We will once again be a true Diaspora nation with only a memory of a homeland. Don't dishonor Israel. Don't dishonor the memory of the founders of modern Israel. Don't dishonor the memories of the Fathers and Mothers of our religion. Don't give in. Keep what is truly ours and take back what was given away.
7. A grave mistake by a leftist liberal....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (07.08.10)
A great article by a highly knowledgable man. He didn't need to mention the name of one the greatest military heroes of Israel, who are - just like Ariel Sharon and Ehud Barak - are responsible for grave political mistakes, that are nearly impossible to rectify. His name is M oshe Dayan who granted administrative rights to the defeated enemy over the Temple Mount.
8. Completely Agree
Faruq   (07.08.10)
Denying the right to the most Jewish place in the world is denying the right for the Jews to live in Israel, peace.
9. Efraim is right. Holy sites should be shared.
Jameela   (07.08.10)
I am ashamed that the nationalistic struggle for Palestinian statehood (which i support) has detiorated to denying their own religion and history. This is because it took on many other idealogies peculiar to Islam (marxism, christian influence, baathism) I have to say, some of the things that are being said in the name of Islam are not Islamic. When the first Caliph took Jerusalem from the Byzantaium empire, they affirmed the holiness of the site for Jews. The Al Aqsa mosque was built out of respect for Prophet Sulyman. A lot of poison and lies is being spread and whilst the occupation should end, it doesn't justify demonising and antisemitic propoganda of the type that is prevalent in the Arab world. It's actually a remnant of the Christian colonials, Arafats top brass was Christian. The final talks about the borders should include Jewish rights to all of Al Quds, along with the right to build a temple if they want. There is plenty of room there for a Jewish temple. The holy sites in Israel should be shared by the 3 monotheisms and their subsects. All Abrahimic religion followers should have access to their holy places.
10. Temple Mount
Brazen   (07.08.10)
Never could the Nation of Hashem Israel EVER concede the realestate Solomon's Temple last stode. Why has this powder Keg lasted so long, RESPECT to the LAND itself, however the DESECRATION by present caregiver's is DEPLOYERABLE. Jerusalem is in ISRAEL that mean's IT IS ISRAELI. PERIOD end of story. My friends possetion is 9/10ths of the LAW !!!
11. Bulldoze the whole damn place!
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (07.08.10)
Bulldoze the mount and the wall and the temple and the sepulcher and and the stained glass and all the rest of it, and build a huge shopping mall in their place. It's beyond belief - pun intended - that in this day and age hundreds of millions of people still call a bunch of rocks "sacred" and are prepared to wreak untold misery and destruction on other people because of them. Israel exists because it has a right to exist under public international law, not because of some fairytale pillar of fire from 4,500 years ago.
12. The Temple Will Be Rebuilt
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.08.10)
Make no doubt about it. The third Temple will be rebuilt on the Temple Mount. Either all the Moslem stuff thereon will be bulldozed away or the Temple will miraculously descend from Heaven. Not relying on miracles, we must resort to the first method and begin efforts to remove all Moslem and Arab presences on the Temple Mount, and as soon as possible, and certainly do nothing which sets us back from this goal. The Moslems, simply put, are interfering with the Final Redemption.
13. Steve #1: It takes a real piece of work

like you, Steve, to write about the theft of "Native Land" residing as you do in Maryland in the USA. Did you ever hear of "Native American Indians"? They are the real indigenous people.

15. no archaeological evidence for Solomon's Temple found
observer   (07.08.10)
the exact location of Solomon's Temple is unknown. The only information regarding the First Temple in Jerusalem is contained in the Hebrew Bible. in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32, Moses commanded very explicitly that nothing is to be added to or subtracted from his law. Well, Moses commanded but never prohibited, said the Jews.
16. My response to all the Jameela's (post #9) of the world!
Tom W. ,   Windsor, Canada   (07.08.10)
For the facts surrounding Muhammad's Night Journey Dream, I suggest you read this: http://prophetofdoom.net/Prophet_of_Doom_12_Delusions_of_Grandeur.Islam This article explains that Muhammad a hallucinatory dream where he first experienced violent imaginary of his body being cut open and then this mythical donkey (Al-Buraq) comes to take him to the farthest mosque. The people who cynically attempted to adapt Muhammad's dream for their purposes were the the Umayyad Caliphate based out of Damascus. Their religious rivals were the the Abbasid Caliphate, a Sunni religious sect that held the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. In order to compete for pilgrims who normally went to visit Mecca for the Hajj; the Umayyad's built the Dome of the Rock (60 years after Muhammad's death) and the Al-Aqsa Mosque (73 years after Muhammad's death) in an attempt to establish a new holy site for pilgrims. And that is the only reason why these 2 structures were build on the Temple Mount; there is absolutely no real religious significance to this place for Muslims! The Umayyad's, cynically attempted to establish the Temple Mount as the location of Muhammad's Night Journey to the farthest mosque. And the deep irony is that the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque remain a living testament to the first major split of Islam, which neither caliphate still is in existence! The reality is that the Temple Mount is all that exists from the foundation of the second Jewish Temple, furthermore archeological artifacts found in the excavated rubble (from Muslims creating a mosque in Solomon's Stables) have turned up proof of the ancient Israeli state!
17. Unfortunately, today everything is your own hands

So the question should be: Is all this will remain in our hands?! The answer is ask PEOPLE'S HISTORY
18. To #13
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.08.10)
Technically, and this may be a stretch, the European immigrants didn't "steal" land, because the concept of "owning" land was unknown to the Indians. Land was a commodity, a gift from the Great Spirit, call it what you want to, to be shared. The Indians adopted the idea of ownership almost as a matter of self-defense. Unfortunately, by then, the odds were stacked against them and the rest is history; at least, this far. That being said, the Great Spirit may exact revenge, yet, and give the Natives the last laugh, after all. it's called "casinoes." :-)
19. NO16. tomw/ That doesn't mean the site isn't holy to Muslims
Jameela   (07.08.10)
I don't think you understood what I wrote. and in fact you sound like the Zionists extremists and history revisers every bit as bad as our own. The Mosque was built out of respec to Prophet Suleyman, whom we do recognise. That is why the Caliph then ended Jewish exiile. Your revisionist history that Muslims have no claim is nonsense. It may well be that the Prophet Mohammed's night vision Mosque was another, (there is some debate over this ) but it doesn't alter the fact that the site is holy to Muslims simply because it was the site of Suleymans temple which is why the mosque was built there with help from the returning Jews at the time. Doesn't God in the Torah that Jerusalem would be a city for many faiths? Didn't God promise Abraham that he would father many nations? Those nations include Judaism, Christiaty, Islam, Druze, and other Abrahamic religons.
20. To Tom W in Canada, are you an xtian Zionist?
Zvi ,   Tel Aviv   (07.08.10)
TomW The site you link to is run by someone who is a Moslem hater and has about as much credence as David Duke has on Judaism. you sound like an xtian Zionist, and if you are know that xtians won't be allowed into The Temple.
21. Bibi's visit
vered ,   toronto canada   (07.08.10)
It is refreshing to read ,upon Bibi's recent return from his visit with Obama, the various reassessments. Obama's body language, his tripping over Bibi's name (several times)and his clipped phrases - as opposed to his punctuated and clear speech techniques, all denotes his malaise. It is to be noted that the gold chain gift from the Saudis has in fact reconfirmed that the arab kings exchanged the iron chains for gold but the message is clear we OWN you.
22. Even the dogs in the street know...
Janice Cohen ,   ירושלים   (07.08.10)
the Temple Mount will fall back into our hands, possibly even as early as the next war.
23. Re: #15 There is plenty of evidence.
Michael ,   Toronto   (07.08.10)
Of course there is archeological evidence - the temple mount. The temple mount is essentially a giant box around the mountain, which was built primarily by Herod in order that when people visited the temple there would be flat ground to stand on. Anyway, Josephus describes what the second temple looked like: http://orion.mscc.huji.ac.il/symposiums/4th/papers/Schiffman99.html
24. #1 are you referring to ...
Andrew Bales ,   HCMC, Vietnam   (07.08.10)
#1 I assume you are referring to the theft of these lands from the Jews years ago? You may not notice but this is a Jewish forum. Go some where else and spout your rhetoric.
25. #19 Jameela
Andrew Bales ,   HCMC, Vietnam   (07.08.10)
I am a Zionist. And if my support for a united Jerusalem under Jewish control is considered extremist then I am an extremist.
26. Jerusalem is the capital of only one people
Avraham ,   New York, USA   (07.08.10)
Under the State of Israel Jerusalem is open to all people for the first time. From 1948-1967, Jews were banished from the Old City and Christians had limited access. In addition, Jewish cemeteries were desecrated by the Muslim guardians of the Old City. Don't let this happen again. join the fight for Jerusalem at www.onejerusalem.org
27. #23 first temple period artifacts are not temple artifacts
observer   (07.08.10)
28. If you had actually read what Jameela said
Alex Schindler ,   Libi ba-mizraH   (07.08.10)
then you'd have seen that she agreed that "The final talks about the borders should include Jewish rights to ALL (emphasis mine) of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), along with the right to build a Temple." It is you who are attempting to ignore God's promises (which is that Abraham would be a father of many nations, including Islam through Yishma`el), not her. What Islam and Judaism both need, for the sake of peace (like the peace YiSHaq and Yishma`el made in midrash bereshit rabba), so that Yerushalayim can truly be a "City of Peace" worthy of its name, are more sane people like her.
29. The source of many of today's problems
RayS ,   USA   (07.08.10)
Giving up control of The Temple Mount was a HUGE mistake. It sent a signal that there was nothing the Jews would refuse to please there enemies. What a terrible message.. Today ,and every day, Israel pays a bitter price for this incredible act.
30. Temple Mount
Kitty Corbett ,   Knoxville, TN, USA   (07.08.10)
It is totally baffling to me that, having won back the Temple Mount in 1967, the Jews promptly ceded it to the Muslim squatters. If there is or ever was a reason for this, I'd sure like to know.
