1. Israel's destruction? Racist & very shameful Initiative
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.10)
2. The same problem in Eilat.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (07.08.10)
I just read that 12-15% of the population of Eilat is composed of illegal immigrants. The number doesn't surprise me, it's hard not to notice that the city is being drowned in a flood of illegals. Our mayor has been trying to get help with this situation, naturally, the gov't. has done absolutely nothing. Too many are afraid of that all-purpose leftist BS of being called ''racist'' - but our municipal services are being overwhelmed, crime is up, & illegals are taking jobs from Israelis. The hotel industry doesn't mind - illegals are easier to exploit, even easier than olim, the group they exploited previously. I have to say that from what I've seen of the illegals, most are pretty well behaved. But, this doesn't really change the problem. The city just can't absorb any more illegals, we just don't have the resources. And when illegals cannot find work, they will be forced to turn to crime just to survive.
3. I agree with these wise Rabbis.
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (07.08.10)
Send the illegals back where they came from.
4. religious 'leaders'-
Lisa   (07.08.10)
religious leaders should stick to what they do best -teach religion- and not meddle in politics- look at what is happening in Iran- . Politics and religion have never mixed well- all persecutions in history happened when religion got too strong and influenced political leaders. The rabbis arguments are tainted with religious fervor- we call it racist today. Illegal people are a state responsibility. The Ravs are crossing the line.
5. Illegal Aliens
David Rubinger ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.08.10)
Right !!! And to hell with the bible and all its nonsense about how to treat the "GER" (Stranger in your midst) David
6. Heartless rabbis !
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.08.10)
If the rabbis without mercy, so how is the case with ordinary people ?!!
7. Finally some leadership...Bravo
Al   (07.08.10)
While Netanyahu is busy trying to sell out the country, these Jewish leaders are calling it as they see it. Netanyahu is selling Isreal down the river...raise the alarm for soon there wont be an Israel thanks to this fool.
8. Don't Rent to Illegals
Nili   (07.08.10)
To all of you calling racist--I am guessing there are not many illegals in your neighborhoods. They are now in Jerusalem as well, and for the first time I am afraid to come home late from work. They huddle in groups on the street corners, drunk or high and when you try to pass they block your way and make comments in a language I don't know--and it is terrifying. The whole area is turned into a dump. The key thing here is "They are Illegal!" They are not interested in being a part of this country. No arab country will take them--ever wonder why? Too bad it is only the rabbis and not the government officials doing something about this!
9. LAW
Simon   (07.08.10)
people go on and on about how important the law of a country is....except with some Israeli laws. immigration laws are valid and all countries have them. People shouldn't out stay visas, and it is reasonable to deport those with no valid reason to stay. These are mostly economic migrants who have been rejected by Arab and Eurpoean countries, and come to Israel for work and play. We have minimal moral obligation to support them. Genuine refugees are a different case, and there are laws for them too.
10. #6 YOUR ARABS DONT ALLOW JEWS IN YOUR COMMUNITIES n COUNTRYS
YOU'RE THE RACIST ,   .....DACON9   (07.08.10)
11. The rabbis are right.
SM ,   Uk   (07.08.10)
The rabbis are absolutely correct. Too many people naively buy into into the fashionable, modern notion that if Israel doesn't extend a welcome to everyone that turns up on it's doorstep then it's by definition a racist society. With so many nations losing their identity in the world's great homogeneous melting pot, preserving the unique Jewish character of Israel is absolutely vital. There are many other ways of helping less fortunate people which need not undermine the foundations of Israeli communities. First and foremost they should be supported in their own countries. Many advocates of an 'open door policy' are alienated by Jewish culture and seduced by trendy notions of 'inclusiveness' with no idea of the intrinsic value of their own heritage, or of the consequences of 'throwing it away'. This will inevitably lead to a 'national identity' so watered down it will end up being worthless, in other words just another shallow consumer society of which the world already has plenty. Israel is worth much more than this.
12. dangers posed by renting homes to these people'
k2 ,   london   (07.08.10)
THESE PEOPLE? i wonder which god THESE so called rabbis pray to. racist pigs! all of them
13. illegal
american jew ,   new york   (07.08.10)
the truth not only rabbis have to forbid iliegai people in israel, but the police has to do that . KICK THEM OUT.!! It is a crime to enter the country without passport!
14. To the Rabbis
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (07.08.10)
So get the hell out of Palestine because you are illegal aliens in that country.
15. And what about 1921?
Brad ,   USA   (07.08.10)
Then the German authorities specifically forbade any Jewish refugees that run from pogrom of Poland on 2 basis: a) They are violating the German characters of the German cities b) They spread disease and where they settle, the crime is up, they harass German girls, make problems etc. I didn't invent this out. Check out the documents yourself, they are even online.
16. Seen before: rabbis will bring hate on us...
John ,   Europe   (07.08.10)
But will blame the seculars. Anybody have doubts - ask yourself why in Shoa it was only religious communities destroyed, why there were no Shoa in America, where Reform and Secular movement was on it's peak. ALL communities that were obliterated were in countries where there was strong religious communities and ALL of them were one way or the other heavily connected to "Orthodoxy". Now, I do not want to say that what rabbis BELIEVE is wrong and that Torah brings peril - I want to say that rabbis swayed and sway from the Torah, but still cover themselves with it, and call peril upon us all. This racist action is exactly the example: instead of addressing this issue to the government and not taking it to the poor workers, they go for workers. This is racism, cloaked with Torah. And this will not be forgiven.
17. ''mixed'' marriages !! you mean human + ape ? lol
bob ,   NZ   (07.08.10)
RACISTS !!!!
18. #3 I also agree with these wise racists..I mean rabbis
bob ,   NZ   (07.08.10)
19. I cannot believe how many Jewish racists are here!
John ,   Europe   (07.08.10)
You are a disgrace to our nation and a deep abomination! You are a reason why antisemites have their field day and a great show-off for their vile planes! You are same as them, Amalek spawn, just you are - in G-d's mistake! - born in Jewish nation! You are a shame and should be cut of from Israel.
20. Why using this tittle?
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.08.10)
It is not Rabbis only.Any sane person, being them a Rabbi ,a secular or a religious ,will agree that that's the correct attitute.
21. Rabbis racist?
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (07.08.10)
Last time I checked, being an illegal alien wasn't a race.
22. #4 Lisa -the catholic is projecting her mind.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.08.10)
Lisa, there has no religion who has mixed up at others affairs and politics than your own ,with the leadership of your Pope. You personally should also stick to your own catholic businesses there in Swiss, and let others affair's alone. Look at your own nose before sticking it where is none of your business.
23. 5 David-You're confusing geir with zar
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.08.10)
"Stranger" is זָר (zar), not גֵּר (geir; resident-alien). While גֵּר is routinely interpreted to be a proselyte, or even a convert, the history of this term precludes these popular modern connotations. The status of גֵּר emerged around the first century BCE as a result of rabbinic prohibitions against Jews having any social interactions with the goyim (Roman) occupiers. This was a period of vast proselytization by Jews among the goyim throughout the Middle East and Western Europe. The crunch became evident when the potential goy wanted to learn Torah in order to convert: Jews were prohibited from interacting with him or her. Thus, a special status amounting to a "Torah convert trainee" was inaugurated: the גֵּר. Talmud corroborates the history, noting a myriad of stages of development relative to the גֵּר. Thus, illegal alien idolaters are nowhere close to fitting the definition of a גֵּר. Another relevant Hebrew term is נָכְרִי (nakhri; foreigner). These illegal aliens are zarim (strangers) and nakhrim (foreigners) practicing idolatry. You will find no Biblical basis for tolerating them and a generous volume of Scriptures that prohibit their presence in Israel. I criticize rabbinic treatment of the גֵּר, or calling a Jew גֵּר. (Once converted, a person is a Jew, no longer a גֵּר and halakhah forbids even referring to his or her former גֵּר status.) But the rabbis are entirely right in this instance. Paqid Yirmeyahu Paqid 16, The Netzarim, Ra'anana, Israel Israeli Torah-reverer (Teimani, Baladi, Dor Daim, Orthodox Jew) Advocate for Logic as Hermeneutic Halakhic Authority Welcoming All Torah-reverers (Jews & non-Jew geirim)
24. illegal
ester ,   australia   (07.08.10)
this illegal will today be in Israel, in another 3 generations they will forget why they came, and we will have a legacy of hatred, of the same people that help them. The best example are the RUSSIANS, which attach jews and became the anti-semitics... Allow them to stay with restrictions,,,,,,
25. Shameful
m ,   Tel Aviv   (07.08.10)
Wow - reading this article and talkbacks is truly terrifying, and makes me ashamed of my people. These "infiltrators" (shame on you Ynet for referring to them this way), are actually people who fled conflicts in their countries, including Darfur and Congo. I happen to know many of these "illegals" personally, and they are respectful, intelligent, and gracious people. In fact, they are protected as REFUGEES under the UNHCR and International Law. The Rabbis who have issued this order are a disgrace to Judiasm. Have we forgetten that we as Jews wondered around the world searching for refuge from our oppressors? Now these people are at our doorsteps and are being refused any resemblance of compassion. Shame on you "Rabbis". This is not the Judaism which resemble a Light Unto the Nations.
26. #23 Here there comes Pachrist once again
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.08.10)
Pachrist, explain exactly from where did you take that: "Stranger" is זָר (zar), not גֵּר (geir; resident-alien). While גֵּר is routinely interpreted to be a proselyte, or even a convert, the history of this term precludes these popular modern connotations." From where in Torah did you get that Geir is "routinely"interpreted to be proselyte....,and from where did you get that "this term precludes these popular modern connotations." Pachrist, where did you take the next in Torah: "The status of גֵּר emerged around the first century BCE as a result of rabbinic prohibitions against Jews having any social interactions with the goyim (Roman) occupiers.." Whre did you take the next: "This was a period of vast proselytization by Jews among the goyim throughout the Middle East and Western Europe. " Pacross, you are an irrelevant but highly annoying ,unclever, ragged putz! Why don't you just get out for US where you belong?huh?
27. Stupid idiot Rabbis
steven ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (07.08.10)
Trust them to take a leaf out of ,nothing less, than a nazi type law , whereby in germany it wasnt permited to rent to jews etc etc It's time all these "Wise religious" people would just evaperate into the course of evolution Why dosent the world wake up to the fact that religion is the number one cause in the world since the begining of mankind ofwar and hatred, Primitve biggots , who should have no say , as their opinions are based on myths
28. #21 illegal aliens are a race in the rabbis eyes!
bob ,   NZ   (07.08.10)
an illegal alien as defined by these rabbis is a person of the race of people who are not of the Jewish race....hence their blatantly racist concern about all the ''mixed'' marriages lol...you honestly dont get it do you? too bad p.s. I'm not antisemitic because I believe Israel is an established state belonging to the UN with the same rights as every other member.
29. To 6 , 16 & others calling us racists
Reuben ,   Tel Aviv   (07.08.10)
These illegal aliens are muslims from Sudan, that cross 3 muslim, Islamic countries to come to Israel. On the way they are raped, exploited and mostly shot in Egypt. If we are so racist, why are they hell bent on coming to Israel? Why cant they settle in any other Islamic state? And the last time I checked Europe has itself closed its borders to African migrants. If you are so noble, please rescue them from us and take them in your country.
30. #29
Poitcha ,   Israel   (07.08.10)
