ghostq   (07.19.10)
wow this involved couple of key issues 1. orthodox jews don't study, they will do anything to bail out of school. 2. they live in dictatorship, I think the rabi is so study sensitive because he knows what his students r not doing.
2. big deal

How about splashing on your front page the recent story of stricken Gaza in dire need of humanitarian aid........but just opened up a new modern shopping Mall, I wonder if Kashmir and Bangladesh has such a shopping Mall? half way down page: http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/

be consulted before a driver's license if obtained. I can't imagine getting a driver's license without a parent's permission in the teenage years. Unthinkable.
4. Where do they get the money?
Max   (07.19.10)
Driver's lessons are very expensive. If they are haredim their father probably doesn't work, so the Israeli taxpayer is paying for their driving license.

Oh yes, Gaza, isn't it ??? But Gaza is luckier than the poor arabs of the "West Bank" don't you know Mr Brainwashed ?? There is no roadblock there, no IDF, no nothing jewish !!! Pure arab, full of euro and $ money, millions, and, oh, want more ???

yes they must stop this now, i mean what ever next they will be getting jobs and serving in the army !
7. And sometimes, it's just plain funny!!
Talula ,   Israel   (07.19.10)
Anyone who cannot see the very clear comparison between this behaviour and that of those nutters in Iran, is clearly blind, stupid and dumb. I'm not about to stick up for any spotty Yeshiva student, but come ON!!! They got kicked out because they got a driving license? Do these deranged rabbis have any idea at all of how low they allow themselves to get? They have taken away these student's right to freedom of choice - that is the crime here, not the driving license. Boys will be boys, and boys want a drivers license and access to bigracks.com. Just because they are Haredi, they still have the emotional, sexual and fundamental needs as those secular boys. It’s a fact of life. Don’t get me started on how these boys can afford cars, insurance and general running expenses of a car?!?!?!?!?!

Surely its up to the parents not the Rabbis. How do you expect these boys to take their ten children around when they get married

that's really new...lol What on earth has this got to to with us freaks on ynet? Its between the boys their parents and the yeshivah. Translate and print about the GERMAN women in WW2 from the hebrew site, not this nothing piece of rubbish. ok, hate filled constipated ynet?
11. Background, anyone?
Naftush ,   Israel   (07.19.10)
The great Rabbi E.M Schach made this ruling in the 1980s in regard to yeshiva students, it being his belief that they should be free of distractions and totally devoted to their studies. The rabbis in this article are playing the game straight. What problem does this create for most of the talkbackers?
12. The Rabbis who expelled them

should be made to sit atop a camel and paraded through the streets of Jerusalem shouting "forgive me my sins". The sin being the kidnapping and controlling of other peoples minds. This is a very serious offence against your fellow human being.

speaking of blind, stupid, and dumb, i think thats a pretty accurate description of people like yourself, who swallow what they read in the media hook, line, and sinker, without even realizing how manipulated and brainwashed they really are. the jokes on you! despite what ynet wants you to think, with their clear and obvious anti-religious agenda, these students are free to leave the yeshiva whenever they want, but as long as they stay they must abide by the rules of their school. as for you, your hatred and ignorance are so blatently apparent to anyone who actually thinks for themselves, that i truly pity you and the rest of the drones (avi, sagi, &tc) who gobble up the propaganda and then humiliate themselves by posting nonsense for all the world to see... why does judaism hurt and threaten you so much? are you that insecure that a life style different from your own causes you to writhe and squirm with fear? as for your comparisons to iran, clearly you are obscenely ignorant if you there is any semblence of similarity between judaism and shia islam.... they are both religions, ill give you that - but have you ever stopped to think that your secular western athiesm is by definition also a religion? in reality, it is you who is less tolerant than the mullahs in iran, with your degrading remarks about "spotty" yeshiva students and similar nonsense...truly, i pity you.

Maybe that some yeshiva students NEED a car to come to study . A car is not only for pleasure , it can save much time too , and this time can be used to ....study . It's not hatred , such an article gives us a good laugh .

Gee thanks for your expert analysis of someone youve never met and from my point of view hopefully never will. You really dont get it do you, these so called rabbis want to raise a generation of uneducated zombies who will obey their every command, if you cant see the similarites between that and Iran then you really need help.

We , the secvulars are NOT threatened by any religious people , we are secure in our HUMAN belief . But we dislike , the least i can say , to have any ideology or backwards religion IMPOSED on us . We don't need Torah laws to behave correctly , we know it by ourselve . Sometimes , with your behaviour , we have to compare you to iranian mullahs . They also want "modest" women , they allow only religion [ had you the power you would do it too ! ] I can only pity people who can only see ONE side , who are blind to the whole world , who don't teach their children other things than religion [ most of them ] Who are fearing that their children see another world , not only cheder , talmud torah and yeshiva . I have encountered , abroad , a charidi boy who did'nt even know that there are non kippa wearing Jews .......poor boy and parents . Regarding those yeshiva students . If it is a RULE in this yeshiva and if they knew it , there is nothing to say about . They have gone against those rules , and were expelled . Read my 15 .

of course your and your kind are threatened by religious people, claiming that you arent is a pathetic exercise in futility. you so called humanistic beliefs are all based on torah, you are just too ignorant to realize it. the torah was what brought the concepts of charity, sanctity of life, prohibitions of theft, murder, incest, &tc - regarding your claim that without torah you would all behave correctly, and live in an idealic paradise like the USA - packed prisons, rampant drug use and sexual manipulation of minors, violent crime in schools, rape, murder &tc &tc are all an illusion right? regarding women, judaism teaches that the woman is holy and sacred, and we honor her by covering her to show respect - unlike your western values which use womens flesh to sell products, and plasters nearly nude pictures of women all over the place (and between us, if there werent laws against it, all the women in the ads would be nude and you know it) - this, this is your idea of the proper way to treat women? like so much meat? i never learned in a yeshiva, i wish i would have had the chance, but as it happens i was educated in one of israels finest universities, where, during the persuit of my education i came to realize how sick and sad people like you are, and avi, and sagi, and talula, and all of the rest of the self-loathing, insecure, know-it-all hypocrites who try to impose their beliefs on everyone else with in iron fist, all in the name of "freedom" - the bottom line is, you dont have a clue.

For the one in a thousand who really NEEDS a car, with its five-digit sheqek annual cost and the temptation that it presents around the clock (we both own them, don't we?), I'm sure the rabbis make arrangements.

how seculalahs get so uber philosophical and dramatic at the most non news items that have even the weeniest mention of anything of a religious nature. Do they lie in wait all day waiting to pounce and then contact each other? Like witches over a cauldron, stirrring and stirring. Then they signal each other : Hi there, it's me, let's all write , ready steady go wo/man go. & off they go, on their broomsticks i.e. talkee backee Yes siree, very funny. Free entertainment for many/most of us. Thanks.
21. To #18 How to live according to the Torah?
Ariel ,   São Paulo - Brazil   (07.19.10)
Laura Schlessinger is a US radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that as an observant Orthodox Jew, she holds that homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned in any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to follow them. a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? g) Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die? i) I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev. 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I do look forward to your enlightenment regarding the questions that puzzle me. Then I shall pass them along to others who may appreciate your moral leadership. Sincerely.

You , and your alikes can come with thousands , you will never convince me with your religion . Based on tora ? [ the history of MY people ] There are some rules there that we follow ,not because they are written there , but because of our HUMANISTIC thinking . If you take some facts in the USA as example , what about your school in Emanuel ? or in my town [ anti Ethiopian Jews ] Yes you cover her with "respect" , bringing her flowers for Shabbat ! I told it already some time ago . I had a friend abroad , a feminine Jewish religious doctor who had , of course , many orthodox women as patients . They sometimes came crying at her consulting room , this because of the "respect" shown by their husbands . You don't like to see nice women ? That's maybe true when people of your kind see you , but otherwise .....HYPOCRITES . I can't understand that an allegedly "educated" person can believe in a "god" , how is this possible in the 21st century ? And , my eternal question : where was your "god" during the Shoa ? inexisting as always . We try to impose our views ? who's attacking this post office , this parking lot , who's setting trash bins ablaze , and so on . And this in name of a religion . Who is against public transportation on shabbat ? who want "schema Israel" broasdcasted every weekday at 5h58 who wants a "mizmor shir leshabbat" broadcasted every shabbat at 7am ? Who is imposing his beliefs here ?
23. 19 ,
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.19.10)
We are not talking about the cost here . Is their belief so weak that they can be tempted when having a car ? Can't they be without a car too ? But , as i wrote , if it are the RULES at thisd yeshiva , they have to obey or leave .

well, i doubt you actually care to read my reply, being that you clearly are all-knowing and all seeing, preaching to the jewish people from your hiding place in brazil, of all places, but hows this: a) there is no temple, in case you didnt notice (despite the fact that tisha baav starts today, but i assume thats lost on you as well) and being that there is no temple, there are no sacrifices - thats where prayer comes in my pathetic little friend.. b) the word used in "exodus" 21.7 is "amah", (alef, mem, heh) which translates as maid - perhaps you advocate that women work for free? c) instead of being a simpleton and asking women foolish questions, perhaps you could respect the jewish religion which states that the only woman you are supposed to touch is your wife, and then you wont have this problem d) again, that pesky fact that the torah is written in hebrew - the words are amah and eved - maid and manservant - is that enough clarification for you? e) the death penalty was abolished in judaism - those darn facts again, getting in the way of your religion bashing f) im not going to dignify this with a reply g) see "a" - and gee, i heard that you need 20/20 vision to be an airforce pilot - lets abolish the airforce at the same time that we abolish religion, both institutions are "sight-ist" and racist h) see "a" - and, if your friends wish to humiliate themselves by pretending that they arent jewish, thats their perogative i) if you think that footballs are really made from pigskins, youre dumber than i thought (if thats possible) j) it seems like you keep repeating the same damn thing over and over (oh wait, you just cut and pasted this) so again, ill refer you to "a" speaking of moral leadership, your idea of being a light unto the nations is by shamelessly copying whatever behavior is the fad of the times, no matter how morally repugnant? are you aware, for example, that there is no concept of prison in torah? how odd, the failed concept of locking humans in cages with other criminals is something that HaShem frowns on... and again, regarding the death penalty in judaism, not only was it abolished (and not only will it eventually be reinstated by the next sanhedren) but in judaism, a regime that executed one individual in 70 years was considered bloody and brutal - gee, i guess the jews should model their state after america, which executes retarded minors...im sure your all over american newspapers talkback forums bashing that - oh wait, whats that, you only hate your religion, judaism? how odd! finally, it might be helpful for you to note that your little cut and paste project was clearly the work of an uneducated non-jew - someone who not only: a) was completely ignorant of hebrew, but: b) was completely unaware of the fact that the torah she be ktav is only HALF of the torah according to judaism; the other half, the torah she be al pe, also known as the talmud, provides the context and explanation for the torah she be ktav, which is incomprehensable with out it - which is precisely why christians and ignorant people like you get it WRONG again and again and again and again ad nauseum... but silly me, disrupting your delusions of grandeur with facts again......

you still dont get it do you? take a step back and realize that the whole concept of "humanistic" thinking is derived from judeo-christian values, which, being that christian values were shamelessly plagarized from judaism, means judeo-judeo values - its all from torah, and the true riddle is why you are so desperate to avoid admitting it - maybe because then you would be bound to your obligations as a jew? i didnt cherry pick "some facts" from the usa as my example, i referred to the overwhelming trends, the majority, and i know, because i lived in america for many years - whereas you, like a good little pawn, selected the few news items that biased media outlets like ynet pounce upon to "prove" their supposed superiority.... the real question is not how can someone believe in HaShem, the real question is how can anyone above the age of 2, upon observing the miracles of nature and creation, and the intricate majesty of the human form and of life on earth can deny His existence, and cling to some pathetic theory that its all an acccident derived from worms wriggling in the mud...and as for your eternal question, where was He during the shoa, He was where He always is, which is everywhere at once, being that we are no more than thoughts in His "mind" - being that He bestowed upon us free will, when we (humanity) choose to behave as beasts we reap the consequences...if you are truly interested in learning about how the shoah (or the destruction of our temples for that matter) occured, then i encourage you to look into it, being that countless reams and volumes have been written about this topic by the wisest sages in all of judaisms history since the dawn of time - but then again, maybe its easier for you to just hate what you cant understand....speaking about imposing beliefs, i hate to break it to you charlie, but this is the JEWISH STATE, and although it operates primarily like a non jewish state, and as such is full of problems of the most tragic proportions - clearly, with a name like that, you came from somewhere else - perhaps you should have moved to america instead, or england, or canada, or timbuktu for all i care, but to come to the JEWISH state and then invest your energy on destroying any vestages of jewish character left within this tiny and enbattled land are truly a CRIME, and eventually you will be punished for it, if you dont wake up before its too late (and its never too late as long as He is letting you breathe air)

You can come , with thousand of your alikes , you will not convince me , i'm sure in my non belief in a inexisting idea you call "god" I don't need the torah "laws" to know what i can and may do , i know it by myself . Aren't there here your kind of people in prison ? do some those stone throwers , trash bin burner , police attackers and so on , not deserve the same place ? There in the USA they will not dare to act criminally as they do here , in name of your belief . They know that there is law , even for them ! And , here many cases are hidden by your rabbis and alikes . As if in your midst there is no use of drugs , violence against children and women . We impose ? even abroad one of your kind asked me not to use my car on Shabbat , ABROAD ! and another was shouting "Shabbes" when he saw me . Judaism teaches that women should be respected ? we see it , mothers who are still children , women who met their husband for the first time unther the chouppa , and what about this prayer thanking your god for not being a women ? That means that women are inferior [ for you ] Respect ? It's you who impose your beliefs on us . We have to listen to kriat shema every weekday morning at 5h58 on the Israeli radio and a mizmor shir leshabbat at 7am every Shabbat . You want only freedom for you , but we can't have buses nor trains on Shabbat , to give only one example of your behaviour .

Call me a smartass will not change reality. The answers that you gave me to the questions asked are clearly interpretations of rabbis to adjust those laws to different social realities. If these answers are sufficient for you to have written in your constitution that you can stone who commits adultery (without any Rashi interpretation) I advise you to seek urgent legal advice. Finally, I wish that you looked around and saw the misery and ignorance in which they live the Orthodox (not the Bnei Akiva). They are sure they are fulfilling exactly what God commanded. And if any of them interpret that we have to destroy the postal agencies that has a television screen (opss. .. my bad) , Sorry no one will interprete this way... Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.19.10)
Not thinker .[ i answer in the way you deserve ] You're 100 % WRONG , even if some rules are mentioned in your tora , we have'nt taken them from there . I don't need to study tora laws to behave as i do , respecting those who deserve it . I respect TRUE religious people , not your kind of hatefull ones , and i know some . Regarding the Shoa . Free will ? an easy response for you , not an answer for me . Having lived this period , i don't need many books about it . I'm simply thinking : how can a person believe in such a thing he calls god , who did'nt intervene to stop this murder of millions of TRUE believing Jews , of innocent babies and children ? it had no power to stop it ? it did not want to stop it , or worse "it" wanted it to, happen . And you believe in such a "it" ? Miracles of nature ? i don't believe in miracles . Biaised media ? mostly only reporting FACTS . Or is this behaviour of your alikes a lie ? I made Alyah to be at HOME , historically this land belongs to the Jewish people . It are mostly seculars , if not anti religious , who gave their blood for our country , not you and alikes who even opposed it .
