1. only in israel
joe ,   israel   (07.15.10)
only in israel do you have a bunch of self hating jews. the whole world respects the wishes of the jewish religion where it is forbidden to dig up jewish graves (and btw many of them in europe are on prime property) except in the "jewish state". The jewish state respects everyone except for the jews. in fact the haterd for the jewish way of life is almost tangible. A wonder there ares still haredim who support the state
2. plenty of room in jail for that old fool
Avi ,   Israel   (07.15.10)
time to bring out the tear gas and water cannonsw, gee i wish i could be there.
3. 1 , they support the State ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.15.10)
Maybe in your idea . They only take money from the State , that's their support ..... Where i lived , we had to bury our deaths in a nearby country , on private plots bought by the different communities . It was almost impossible to have Jewish graves "ad eternum" there
4. Where was Elyashiv for Gush Katif???
Yos ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.15.10)
He did not protest as human lives were being destroyed during the disengagement. He did not speak out as people lost their homes, businesses, yeshivahs, shuls and schools. He cares more about the dead than the living.
5. Agreed, Charles ! (& to zionist forever)
avi   (07.15.10)
don't tell me only 1-2% of haredim don't recognize the state of Israel; it is the contrary !! just ask them ! it is as basic for a Haredi as US constitution is for an american (well, not so many americans today ...)
6. Root of the Problem: the "Oven of Akhnai" !
avi   (07.15.10)
Ousting G.d ... "the rabbis reject the ruling of Hercules or Heaven (ed: God). In the name of the sacred law given at Sinai, they refuse to listen to the Legislator's own interpretation of that law: Rabbi Joshua stood up and said: "it is not in Heaven." (quoting part of Deuteronomy 30:12). What does "it is not in Heaven" mean? R. Jeremiah said, "since Torah was already given at Sinai, we do not pay attention to a Bat Kol, because it was already written at Mt. Sinai in the Torah, 'incline after the majority (or many).' (quoting part of Exodus 23:2)" . . . They said, "that day they brought all the objects that R. Eliezer had declared pure and burned them in a fire and they voted about him and excommunicated him."
7. Listen, G.d does NOT want followers ...
avi   (07.16.10)
If He did, He wouldn't have said to Abraham: "Lech Lecha", - Go for You, BUT Go for Me !!! We, Mankind that has dominated G.d's world, are not supposed to follow anything, anyone, not EVEN G.d ! We are destined to create what G.d Himself did not do ... a perfect world, I mean, to improve by our deeds G.d's creation that is not perfect for He has let us DO THAT !!! G.d has rewarded Mankind with the trust that we will perfect His creation, that among us we will improve love, equality, freedom, all the concepts every one of us dream about but fail to realize. Not only we did not accomplish what we want but we have made things worse, by far !!! It is still up to us, but not for long because evil forces among us, dark realities prepared to enslave us for good since centuries are on the tipping point to implement their plans. The clock is ticking faster, since 1933, 9/11, since Katrina, since this last april 20, 2010, 5770. It's been some 3000 years since we are warned of the path we ought to avoid and we did not progress a iota. It is no more V for Vendetta, it is M for Mankind. Best !!
8. rav elyashiv joins ? so what ? I'm joining too !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.16.10)
on the GOOD side , the removers of this cemetery .
9. Be Fair Guys - you are all going over the top.
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (07.16.10)
1 Most Haradim do beleive in a Jewish State and are very Nationalistic. They just don't believe in secular zionism as that is not sanctioned in the Torah. Thaey are not all Satmars or worse Neturi Karta. 2. As to the "just take and give nothing back "- that is too simplistic and an exaggeration. 3. And Rav Elyashiv did speak up for Gush Katif. 4 And we should respect our dead - it is absolutely crazy to say otherwise. 5. Having said all that, I still haven't a clue as to whether Jewish Graves are involved and how the authorities have dealt with the situation re reburial etc. All I am hearing is that haradim are protesting against Jewish Graves being desecrated. If that is true (and I don't really know) then what is wrong with protesting and in fact why have you not all joined them in the protest?
10. Just a thought....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.16.10)
Has anyone ever figured out methematically how long it would take for a small country consisting of x square miles to turn into a giant cemetery, if no graves can ever be disturbed? Whether 100 or 10,000 years, there is a limit. Then what? I don't honor my mother by "protecting" her grave 4000 miles away, but by how I live, based on what she had taught me.
11. A school scam", no only a jewish scam
Vic   (07.16.10)
Your article is obscene -- your pictures are obscene, as they do not represent today's judaism, only the long extinguished past - the Golem?
12. You call R. Eliashiv an old fool?
gilbert ,   Mexico   (07.21.10)
I would not like to be on your shoes, calling the Gadol HaDor like that.
