31. Ran Cohen
Daliya   (07.15.10)
"It appears that our parliament members face a miserable state – what else can they do when they’re convinced that their voters think the Zoabi decision is the most patriotic way to go, thereby believing this is the only way they can get reelected?" Who exactly faces a miserable state? How many votes did your Meretz party get in the last election?
32. Democracy for who?
Alex Braverman ,   Westfield USA   (07.15.10)
Zoabi is in a position of power which means she has a responsibility to her voters AND the state of Israel. What she did undermined Israeli authority which in the long run will only make it harder for Israel to act for its people. “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” - George Washington
33. Let me see if I understand this
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.15.10)
By removing MK Zoabi's privileges and giving her the same rights that I have undermines the essence of democracy? How? Perhaps it is those very privileges that undermine the essence of democracy since except for 119 MKs the rest of us poor slobs don't have them. MK Cohen I strongly suggest that ALL of you should lose those 'rights' that the rest of the nation does not enjoy. That would be democracy.
34. Zoabi can go to hell
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (07.15.10)
If she doesn't consider herself Israeli, I think hamas would be delighted to make her their own...
35. Its a sad day
Jonny ,   SA   (07.15.10)
I have no time for MK Zoabi, but as a democratically elected memebr of a democratic governmentm she has the right to enjoy full privilages. I have no time for the extreme right wing MP's but they have equal rights. I have no time for the powers that be that decided to release the flottila membrs without processing them properly, and I have no time for incompetent senior army personel. I have no time for corrupt parliemmetarians who still roam the corridors of power However, I have to live with them all. How long before political expediency leads the Knesset to vote in favour of all males having to wear a kippa, women to wear sheitels?
36. I have to agree - this is stupid
Dan the Jafa ,   Auckland, Aotaroa   (07.15.10)
Instead of taking away her parking spot and free yogurt, Israel shold try her for treason. You know, like that Bishara guy, who in essence did the same thing.
37. Haneen Zoabi....History is on her side.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (07.16.10)
God Bless Freedom Riders MK Haneen Zoabi in 2010, and US Congressman John Lewis in 1965, for having the courage to stand up to the mob. History is on their side.
38. Mr Cohen-on which planet do YOU live ?
Jaacov Baumann   (07.16.10)
Planet earth - where the nation of Israel is fighting numerous enemies to survive - is far from the planet you must be living ! On earth - if your enemies want to destroy you - you have to take off your gloves and fight them ! Israel is at war and what Zoabi or Tibi are doing is treason and on planet earth the price for treason is death penalty ! Maybe one day you will land on planet earth - be careful, its a tough place, dreamers may live a short while only !
39. This shmendricks lack of common sense/self respect = LEFT
Jae ,   Lynn US   (07.16.10)
wing getting less than 20 votes out of 110 votes going to Jewish parties. You are not the smartest squirrel Ran; perhaps Zoabi does more damage to Israel and thus Israel gives her the boot
40. Democracy has the right to defend itself!
The Truth ,   from Jerusalem   (07.16.10)
Democracy does not mean MORE rights to the minorities at the expense of the MAJORITY! Democracy does not mean allowing openly treacherous and militant elements to attack the MAJORTY. Democracy does not mean that it should tolerate terror, incitement and racist slurs against it. Democracy mwans that the MAJORITY decides, not the minority. DEMOCRACY HAS THE RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF WITH ANY MEANS!
41. the Knesset
arieh zimmerman ,   Kibbutz Zikim,israel   (07.16.10)
sk, USA How many Palestinians do you know? Who the Hell is they? Are they monolithic, are they as frozen in time as your primitive (mis)understanding. I live under the threat of qassams every day, and I know that there are not 1,500,000 terrorists in Gaza, but only 25,000 mad men of Hamas. Go back to your cave.
42. "The Truth", #40
arieh zimmerman ,   Kibbutz Zikim,israel   (07.16.10)
The truth is that if democracy defends itself "WITH AN MEANS", it is no longer a democracy. When the majority decides without regard to the legitimate needs of the minority, it is not a democracy. I have firm doubts as to how reliable a democrat you are.
43. Knesset Participation
Alfred Inselberg ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.17.10)
To participate in the democratic process one must first be a loyal citizen of the state, something that Zoabi clearly is not. She is simply NOT ELIGIBLE to be in the Knesset. Further, unless she denounces her Israeli citizenship she ought to be charged with treason and if convicted go to jail.
44. cohen is looking to get some arab votes
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.18.10)
for his party. We need to have a law that takes away the right to vote for anyone who did not serve in the I.D.F. Ban all those that did not serve from becoming members of the knesset or working in government.
