Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (07.21.10)
2. #1 - what a stupid thing to say
Jenny ,   Sydney Australia   (07.21.10)
Peter, you have the IQ of a brick. And where exactly did Europeans come from?
3. Peter's comment No.1
Dennis ,   Manchester UK   (07.21.10)
"Why did the jews come to Europe in the 1st place?? " Peter, we came to learn from the Austrians how to be kind, loving and welcoming, of course. You could answer your question by doing minimal research, but I fear the question had an ulterior point, didn't it?
4. I wonder if Peter knows
Aryeh ,   NY / USA   (07.21.10)
that the Germans were an invasive species that came from Asia and killed and enslaved local populations, surpressing their culture and destroying their native languages. The latter is especially true in Austria where the peasants 400 years ago spoke Romanisch (a Latin-based language still spoken in parts of Switzerland) rather than Hochdeutsch.
5. #1 Why do you consume more oxygene
Yaniv ,   Israel   (07.21.10)
#1 Because Europeans kicked out Jews from Israel. Feel stupid now?
6. Those Nazi BASTARDS men and women
Israeli 2   (07.21.10)
alike are currently swimming in the sea of hell. Their names should be forever blotted as they have done Satan's job.
7. #1 Peter
Israeli ,   U.S.A / Israel   (07.21.10)
Peter You have a most stupid thing to say.. My family 17 droves in Hungary they been there before ages ,they do not go there they born there Peter you are antisemitic you should be shame . Just tell me you are a Hungarian or German ..
8. The Austrian Hospice in Jerusalem
DAVID AARONS ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.21.10)
I have encountered anti semitism in the Austrian Hospice in Jerusalem on the Via Dolorosa /Some of the volunteer staff are young Austrians and Germans who in "quiet conversations" will say the same as Peter from Austria and all are fierce Palestinian Activists .
9. to #1 you r more idiot than I thought
ghostq   (07.21.10)
Peter the more burning quetion is y do Muslim immigrant to Europe.
10. Peter asked a question
Schreiber   (07.21.10)
Probably he was never taught at school how the Romans destroyed Judea and scattered the Jews. The Jewish treasure was sacked and thousands (some say about 100,000) of Jews were brought to Rome as slaves. The Coliseum was built with Jewish treasure and Jewish hands. Some Jews remained in what today is Israel. The Jews have had a continuous presence there and survived Roman and Ottoman dominance. Jews were not a large population then. It is a miracle that those who ended up in Europe remained Jews and were not absorbed by the local culture. Peter or other readers who have been educated in Europe or the USA perhaps should tell us how much of Jewish history they were taught at school - if at all.
11. in secret Peter is really
Barney ,   USA   (07.21.10)
an admirer of Jews and his venomous statements are basically borne of jealousy. An inferiority complex is a hard thing to deal with. Next thing you know he will end up in a yeshiva in Israel when he has the courage to act on his suppressed desire to become a Jew. This has happened in the past with neo-nazis. They one day wake up and all of a sudden realize how ignorant they have been. Peter, start thinking of a nice Hebrew name for yourself.
12. Ynet,enough of Peter from Austria
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (07.21.10)
Why do you continue to print this anti-semite 's emaiils? As for Israelis who travel to Germany and Austria, the next time you see a sweet elderly woman sitting in the park feeding the birds ask yourself if 65 years ago she crushed Jewish babies heads against a wall.
13. why was Peter's comment anti semetic?
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (07.21.10)
I find it interesting, once again a person is accused of a "venemous comment" and "anti semetist" because a question was asked. Maybe Peter is ignorant but you people are far more ignorant than he is for persecuting him over a question. This article is disturbing... I can't believe some of this information...its incredible to read about the total disregard for human life...especially children! This has ruined my day!
14. #1 Peter
Debbie Richards ,   London   (07.21.10)
Before the war, European Jews were being told 'to go Palestine', now they are in Israel we are being told 'to get out of Palestine'. Seems like we are damned if we do and damned if we don't but then as long as there are anti-Semites like you around, that will always be the case.
15. #7 And All: 2nd Attempt. Hope this doesn't get censored
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (07.21.10)
If the atmosphere in Europe was pretty much Antisemitic(even before ww2),why on earth did you stay??? Couldn't you tell that you were not wanted here?? Wasn't it obvious?? I wouldn't go live somewhere were people would hate my presence. It's called self respect. And there's nothing wrong with the host countries not being welcoming to a group of other people. How ever you insisted on staying and had to bear the consequences. Is it really that hard for you to understand what I'm saying?

Rachel   (07.21.10)
Any doubts as to who and what this Peter from Austria stand for should be put to rest with his answer on this talkback. Next time he comes on here, and whines about the human rights of the Palestinians being violated. I hope everyone realizes the real sinister motivations behind his remarks. He is nothing less than a neonazi who comes on to this site for the sole purpose of baiting Jews.

E ,   Al Khobar, KSA   (07.21.10)
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you must be new to Ynet. For, if you weren’t, you would know it is a preponderance of evidence. This Peter has spewed his venom for a long time. No, as you can see, I can’t be Jewish, living in KSA. But, I do recognize anti-Semitism when I read it.
18. Peter # 15
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (07.21.10)
And so since you post where you are not wanted you too have to bear the consequences yourself. In this light you should not become upset with posters that don't seem to like you. You might try showing them something to like but you seem more interested in disparaging Jews. If you could do this you might earn someone elses respect besides your own.

#15 you not going to ,   U.S,A / Israel   (07.21.10)
Peter 3000 years they skater us around the world my family that live lived in Europa we new generation happyly went back to our country Israel and we work to build better futures to our people . Shalom
20. #15 Peter - legitimate question - why did they stay?
Schreiber   (07.21.10)
We ask ourselves the same question. Many saw the writing on the wall and emigrated. Some assimilated Jews clung tenaciously to the countries they thought were theirs. They were intensely patriotic and thought Nazism was a passing fad that would go away. That the army would boot out Hitler. That good Germans would prevail over evil. Also keep in mind that although there was anti-Semitism Jews did not feel the brunt of hatred in their everyday lives. It was not bad enough to abandon careers, family, friends. Then there are the eastern European Jews who generally were poor and unable or afraid to emigrate. Families were tight. They could not go and leave the elderly behind. Those who stayed thought they had good reasons. By the time the Nazis conquered Eastern Europe they were trapped. The truth is that nobody foresaw how bad it would get. Jews had survived pogroms before. They never imagined that this time Europe wanted to wipe out the very last one of them. The moral question, Peter, is that the victims should not be blamed for the crimes perpetrated on them. This is an issue you should consider above all others.
21. #13 Dino - It's a lot worse than this
Schreiber   (07.21.10)
If you read Holocaust literature it does not only ruin your day but your whole outlook on life. It's hard to have faith in human beings anymore because the perpetrators were ordinary people like your next-door neighbor and people with high education who loved their families and their pets. There have been studies or experiments done with high school or univerisity students where some of them play guards and the others victims. And at some point role-playing takes over and nice kids find themselves inflicting sadistic punishment on the victims. All you have to do is to give a human being the power and the opportunity to be cruel and unfortunately a high percentage will enjoy doing so. It even happens in playgrounds. So why not in a larger setting where cruelty was sanctioned and encouraged by the state?
22. peter #15
Barney ,   USA   (07.21.10)
based on that the arabs should leave Israel. If they are not wanted they should recognize that and if they stay they should bear the consequences. I am so glad you have it all worked out. You are a genius!
23. #21 - Schreiber
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (07.21.10)
I have to be honest with you and say although I do support Israel and Jews I am also critical of many of the political views and mishaps, especially lately. I don't agree with how the Flotilla fiasco was handled or also feel that even though Israel has reasons and rights to enforce as they do I think they overreact and irresponsibly disregard their important allies and friendly neighbors (although there aren't many its still important). On another note, as a Catholic and an Eastern European I feel as if we failed the Jews even though I know many were helped and saved I also know many were treated as less than animals...and this saddens me a lot! I feel like I just can't believe or understand how people could have let it happen... it baffles me today!
24. Peter is right with his question
Sebastian ,   Germany   (07.21.10)
Peter is right with his question. The behaviour of some Jews is hardly understandable for many Europeans. How come, that in the wake of the end of cold war more than 200.000 Jews from the former Soviet Union did not move to Israel, but rather emigrated to Germany? And how come, that inside Israel innumerable Jews are queuing up on a daily basis at the European and preferably at the German and Austrian consulates and embassies, in order to get there an European passport and citicenship? More Jews are leaving Israel than making Aliya. Does that make any sense, both in respect of and despite their memory of their holocaust and considering the (in their opinion ubiquitous and comprehensive) antisemitism in Europe?
25. #23 Dino
Schreiber   (07.21.10)
I'm a right wing fanatic and I also agree that Israel's handling of the flotilla was stupid. They should have disabled the ships and towed them to Ashkelon. BTW the Turkish government is no longer an ally of Israel and hasn't been for some time. A true ally would not have sponsored a ship full of well-known terrorists to force its way into Gaza. Israel is one of the most mismanaged democracies in the world. That would not be a problem elsewhere. But in Israel policy mistakes are much more costly than anywhere else.
26. #7to# 1
Israeli ,   U.S.A / Israel   (07.21.10)
Peter can i get my answer because ,nobody going to censer you Israel it is a free country !!!!!you can speak you mind!!!! You are a Hungarian or a German????? i know you have a same mind!!!!!
27. #25 - Schreiber
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (07.22.10)
although we probably dont agree with many of your opinions I am grateful you haven't bashed me for having one that isn't always necessarily the same as yours... I respect that. Yes, you would know far better than me about Israeli politics, I enjoy learning more about the history and politics but feel many people on this site are extreme and unfair... thanks for being normal!
28. #24 remember Iran? Not everyone wants to be a sitting duck
Rachel ,   NYC   (07.22.10)
29. #24 Most Israelis are refugees.
Rachel ,   NYC   (07.22.10)
Most Jews came to Israel to escape persecution. Not all have strong Jewish identities. Some were very assimilated in Europe. Some Jews just want to jump the ship - others choose to die as Jews. Not an easy choice. I am all admiration for those that choose to stay.
30. Nothing makes up for what happened.
D. Torres ,   NYC, USA   (07.22.10)
Very difficult to read, the terrible actions committed against vulnerable, defenseless children. The Nazi Holocaust truly is one of the most horrendous chapters in human history. How can human beings be so despicable, cruel to others, including children? Nothing makes up for what took place.
