1. It's high time the Hungarians learned
TRJ   (08.01.10)
that their fathers and grandfathers behaved like beasts and criminals during WWII. They were very much willing executioners annexed to the Nazi ugly machine. If they liked killing and tormenting their Jews, their sons and grandsons should like, at least, trying to "repair" and take responsibility for an infinite part of the huge damage.
2. About Hungary
Thomas ,   Dixieland -USA   (08.01.10)
I was born there during those sinister times. My family was taken to Auschwitz, my father to the Voronezh (Russia) front in Jewish work-battalion from which no one came back alive. Hungarian neighbors beat my grandfather to death in search of his "hidden treasures". Even today, even within friendly circles snide remarks, snarky allusions to Jewish background were part of the daily chat at my friends home. I was the "good Jew" though until I defended Israel. I left that damned country for good.
3. reparations
Freda ,   Israel   (08.02.10)
It's high time that reparations are made. Of course, most of the original owners are unfortunately not among us any more, but their families are. Does anyone know who to send a plea to for reimbursement on property (real estate) that was stolen from Hungarian Jews during the Holocaust? I would be grateful to be able to honor the family's memory.

A tiny country like Hungary used as pawns by the Nazis and then the Russians after WWII. The Nazis and Russians removed everything of value from Hungary! They razed the country and the people were left starving. As far as the real estate, the Communists redistributed the wealth of the land. Not unlike obama wants to do! My family hid Jews. My father picked a girl up when he was in the Hungarian army and took her to his family to protect her. He called her his sister. My family NEVER showed hatred or prejudice against their fellow Hungarians, many that were Jews.

6. Reparations from Hungary
Michael ALBERT ,   HOLON, Israel   (04.01.11)
I am from the "youngest" genaration of Holocaust survivors, who spent a year in a labour camp in Austria in the age of 11. Most members of my family perished in Auschwitz. After my childhood was destroyed and ended by Hitler and his Hungarian collaborators, and my youth destroyed by the communist regime, I was glad to escape from Hungary and leave it without looking back in 1956. My family was robbed from all of its assets, such as contents of their homes, bank deposits of valuables, and real estate. Five houses were owned by my family in the central districts of Budapest, with apartments for rents. The partial restitution given by the Hungarian authorities in the 1990's was ridiculously low. Any efforts of mine to seek help through the media for the rectification of this injustice had been futile. Could any organization help to take up this issue?
