I lived 20 years in the US and 27 years here in the UK. There is no question in my mind that there is at all times a basic undercurrent in the UK that at least holds a negative view of Jews that is completely absent in the US. I believe it is ingrained in the establishment and media and spreads throughout the society from there on. Why? In the US, non-Jewish British ex-pats who have been abroad for several years are far more like most Americans in their innate, positive view of Jews, whereas their countrymen in the UK are as Peres describes. He is absolutely correct. The British are highly anti-Israel and have been so for quite some time. They are very antiSemitic. The way that they dealt with Jews in "Palestine" was horrible on many accounts. Their media and churches are highly anti-Israel.
