There is a simple solution. Have the soldiers eat one glove of raw garlic per day. I doesn't do much for romance, but it will keep away ticks. I learned that trick from a mountain woman and it works. While I'm on the subject of weird remedies, here's another one. Whenever one falls victim to poison ivy/oak, dabbing the itching area with pure vodka will neutralize it. A few celebratory margaritas with what's left of the vodka is OK, too, unless, of course, you're a Southern Baptist. Hopefully, they can be persuaded to pass the bottle to one of their heathen friends :-)

Tick warning!! I hate it when people forward bogus warnings... but this one is real, and it's very important. So please send it to everyone on your e-mail list: If someone comes to your front door saying they are conducting a survey for the health department, due to a severe infestation of ticks, and asks you to take off your clothes and dance around up on your toes with your arms over your head, while they inspect you for ticks, DO NOT DO IT!! IT IS A SCAM! They only want to see you naked. I really wish I'd gotten this warning yesterday; I feel so stupid today......
