1. I think its only right for israelis to make a point
a Levi   (08.02.10)
I hope that things will get better between the two countries and for Erdogan to return home but the protest is legitimate and not violant and I really think its important for the israelis to make a point and say that we will not accept this behavior from the Turkish government or any other government
2. policy
colin   (08.02.10)

4. Antalya Mayor Akaydin :
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.02.10)
You'll have to get PM Erdogan to make a public apology to the Israelis and to our President Peres for his biased and humiliating behavior and remarks, first before I'd consider visiting again.
5. I'm still not going there.
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.10)
6. Mayor should be patient
Johan ,   Oslo, Norway   (08.02.10)
Once the word gets out that Israelis are no longer going to Antalya, many others will flock there to enjoy its beaches if they know that the rude and arrogant ones will not be showing up. Have patience, there are many nice people to whom you can court.
7. Mr. mayor, the Israelis aren't fools
(08.02.10)
I respect you, you sounds like a decent guy, yet you cannot expect people, who were spit upon, to be making their way back, surely with the current Anti-Israeli policy.

11. Threat Of Kidnapping Ever Present
Arlen H. ,   Allentown, PA. USA   (08.02.10)
As we all know, the arab terrorists have a huge presence in Turkey, pretty much with a majority support of their terror-islamic, palestinian-supporting, virulently anti-Jewish and anti-Israel populace. It is a disease of (nazi) propaganda indoctrination which has bread several generations of violent muslims throughout the middle east, not just in Turkey. This fanaticism, all based on lies, has fed into the terror-islamic kidnappings & murders of Jews, Israelis, INNOCENTS, usually without a favorable outcome.

15. You, Mr. Mayor, don't want the Jew; you only want their...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.02.10)
...money, and this is not good enough for us, Jews!!! Your prime minister, backed up by his government and most of the parliament, has humiliated our president, Shimon Peres. Your state run TV producers have developed and aired anti-Semitic series that border on a blood libel against Jews. Your public was ready to lynch our sportsmen and women in when they came to play in Turkey. You better clean your collective act before we, Jews, from Israel and elsewhere, will show our faces in your country. P.S. And, by the way, we also expect you and your prime minister to apologize to us, to the Armenian people, to the Kurdish people and to the Cypriot people for your disgusting, brutal and genocidal acts against all of these people.

20. Iran and Turkey, first Muslim countries to recognize Israel
Yaniv ,   Israel   (08.02.10)
Now, they both are anti-Israel. Goes to show that you can't trust Muslims and that the conflict is with Islam not Arabs per se.
21. Even with lifting of security warning Israelis should not go
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.02.10)
Turkey continues drawing closer to their Syrian and Iranian allies, even exposing sensitive Israeli technology to them - the stuff Israel should not be selling to them. The Turkish government continues to insult, demean, libel and incite against Israel. Any Israeli Jew who nonetheless returns to Turkey because of a "good deal" has no self-respect. OK, so the mayor sees there's an economic cost to the Turkish campaign, but others in Turkey (including some talkbackers) insist they don't need the Israelis, that others (including Israeli Arabs) will take their place. Can't have it both ways.
22. Not As Long As

30. #13. You can go even further
A ,   Belgium   (08.02.10)
On the one hand, Akaydin says " the Israelis' money is not as important as the friendly relations between both nations." Than on the other hand he says, " Antalya's economy is dependent on tourism, particularly from Israel," I think what he is trying to say is, "why, some of my best friends are Jewish (as long as they stay away from my daughter!)"
