1. Groucho cooperation with UN
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.03.10)
Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?
2. Assemble the best legal team!
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (08.03.10)
This may be the perfect opportunity for Israel help the UN redeem itself. First, the state must select the best team of lawyers to do the heavy lifting. If ambassadors are involved they should be relegated to minor roles such as soothing the tattered dignity of the opposition after the lawyers pick them apart. The Israelis should make the legality of the naval blockade the focus of the probe. Once the blockade is found to be within international norms (there is precedence for this), all the other issues become minutia. I fully expect the Muslim/left to raise all the emotional issues that are important to them like the “suffering” Gazans, but to do so will require them to produce evidence that Gazan lives were imperiled by the lack of the flotilla supplies. Good luck with that. The task of the Israelis will be much easier. The violent history of Hamas and the other splinter groups inhabiting Gaza and a quick read of the Hamas charter is all the evidence required to justify the naval blockade. For the UN to find otherwise would expose them as bias in this matter and could wreck what’s left of their credibility. On the bright side this probe should be a teachable moment for the Muslim/left that it is time for them to consider avoiding scenarios that make them appear fanatical. It would also be useful for the UN to clear up international rules relating to naval blockades...the world is watching.
3. IF there is a justification?
Israeli 2   (08.03.10)
You mean there was NO justification? No one saw any videos? Will they be considered not admissable? WHEN shall we learn? WHEN? Just like Sharon's big blunder returning Gush Katif. Why should we do these things? What kind of behavior is this?
4. re: UN's flotilla inquest
joel ,   usa   (08.03.10)
will mr ban k moon, the south korean UN's sec general make an iinquiry also on the "rockets" fired by the terorists into Jordan & Israel? all these hulabalu at the UN's serve nothing for the entire world, these UN officials are just wasting the taxpayers money of every US citizen!
5. Where is Goldstein, more lies are needed quickly.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.03.10)
6. Why not let soldiers be questioned? what am I missing here?
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (08.03.10)
The Activist get to tell there side but Israel side is only from reports that are so cleaned up that few specifics will be in them. If soldiers not questioned then there must be something to hide, is that what Israel is afraid of? if not then why?
7. Bring in Goldstone
Mark ,   TA Israel   (08.03.10)
Why don't Israel ask Gallstone (Goldstone) to be our representative, I'm sure he is available at a price and maybe, if he employs some of his brilliant mind constructively he can go a small way toward rectifying some of the massive damage he did in the past by finding in Israel's favour But he will extract a price ... maybe even a cabinet position for his ego??
8. Bloodyscot @ 6, actually you are missing a lot.
leo ,   usa   (08.03.10)
It is for their personal protection. I am surprise it is even needs explaining.
9. what a funny Cooperation!
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.03.10)
Let the UN, questioning SHRIMP in the Mediterranean Sea :)
10. naval blockade
avi ,   haifa   (08.03.10)
In 1967 mr. nasser closed the straits of tiran for israeli shipping. he thereby imposed a naval blockade on elath/israel. there was no UN protest and no peace flotillas. actually the UN removed on order from nasser it's sinai peacekeeping force. no questions asked> who have to be israeli or jewish or both to justify your action before a tibunal. you don't have to answer questions about war crimes if you are not israeli
11. This commission is not like Goldstone
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (08.03.10)
Keep in mind that there are 2 UN mandated commissions in the works. The first is like Goldstone as it is created by the Muslim controlled Human Rights council, so its mandate will be something like "investigate Israel's crime ....." The commission Israel has agreed to work with and be on is by the Secretary General and so far has the mandate to "find out what happened" so there is a chance it will not be prejudging Israel and looking for proof. This is a risky move by Bibi and I hope he will not come to regret it.
12. #6 - Bloodyscot would you like US soilders interviewed
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (08.03.10)
Consider what you are asking. Would you want every soilder that may have been involved in hurting innocent civilians in Afghanistan while the soldiers protected themselves from attacks publicly interviewed so that they could later be personally sued? The USA is freaked out about the Wikileaks papers could you imagine how many people from Bush down would be sued in international courts (like the UK, Spain, etc.) for their parts in "war crimes"? There are raw videos as shown on Turkish TV as well as the ones shown by the IDF that tell all the story needed to see that the soilders came without weapons in hand and were grabbed and beaten with full premeditation.
13. Re: #1: you, or my lying eyes?
Dan the Jafa ,   Auckland, Aotearoa   (08.03.10)
I am so sorry, Steve, I am trying so hard to believe you, but my shamelessly lying eyes only see the video from Mavi Marmara where victims have attacked the perpetrators with knives and iron bars, tried to lynch them, and almost succeeded. I also see your truthful posts everyday explaining me how white black really is and vice versa, but again, my skewed senses tell me otherwise. I think, Steve, if your moral compass is still under warranty, you should go and exchange it for a new one, because yours is waaaaay off.
14. WHO WANTS TO QUESTION COWARD CRYING ISRAELI SOLDIERS !
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (08.03.10)
WHAT CAN THEY SAY, ANYWAY !
15. to #1 not you for sure.
ghostq   (08.03.10)
16. The UN is obsessed with Israel and Jews.
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (08.03.10)
any 'inquiry' should be on the Turks for their aiding and abetting terrorist scum to violate Israel's borders. 9 nine terrorists became 'martyrs' that day - it's what they wished for, and i for once was happy that 9 child killer terrorists died that awful day. We should be PRAISING Israel for making the world a safer place FFS!
17. #14
gabi lawrence ,   braintree england   (08.03.10)
Perhaps Nr 18 would like to be beaten and hurled from upperdeck to be met by hostile elements to be butchert and dead Israeli body send as trophy for 'loving aid to Hamas in Gaza
18. The Right Decision!
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (08.04.10)
What better chance than to show the world that you did no wrong, however I see one problem, the ship was in international waters.
