1. WOW!!!! I mean WOW!!!
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.03.10)
CASE CLOSED!! No big surprises here though! During the last war the photo and video fraud by the Lebanese was rampant. As you can see here: http://www.aish.com/v/is/91361839.html So here we go, from get go, we now have confirmation from the most unlikely source, the Lebanese started it and tried to blame Israel. Seriously is anybody really surprised? Arab media lying to the Western Media to elicit undeserved sympathy. This only the 4000th time! Yet Israel, who has never been caught in anything even remotely similar, is always doubted?
2. Only a masochist country like Israel
CJ   (08.03.10)
Can let various missile/rocket attacks, dead civilians and soldiers, border violating go unattended while Arab/Islamic countries keep on lying all around. I bet those countries are happy to have such a restrained country around, others would have annihilated them long ago. This clash was well planned by Iran, Syria and Lebanon and it happened right near the end of Hariri's murder investigation. The IDF gave UNIFIL info about various works, the Lebanese army got this info and planned an ambush. Sadly, as always, Israel lets such incidents go instead of striking the enemy and/or letting the world know the truth.
3. POTENTIAL WAR ROSH HASHANNA THRU SUCCUS
Hane'elam ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Major probability of war Tishrei 5771 Rosh Hashana through Succus
4. Hello!! Reporter there before the clash? Inside Information?
Tim ,   S.A.   (08.03.10)
5. And..
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (08.03.10)
And Israel will remain quiet about it instead of shouting through all the world media.
6. #2 - such is the case when following political correctness
William ,   Israel   (08.03.10)
If Israel returns to the days of self-preservation without caring of world opinion, skewed by racist Leftists, this wouldn't be a common event.
7. Lebanese border
Leon ,   Kfar Saba, Israel   (08.03.10)
Something's not right. We lean over the fence - and you can see it clearly in the Ynet picture - to pull out a tree from their side. Both sides are trigger happy and looking for excuses to open fire. They send off an RPG and kill our officer. Now reverse the picture. If they were trying to swipe one of our trees what would we have done?
8. We expect Arab lies and aggression
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.03.10)
This is nothing new. Just like the last Lebanon war, the overwhelming factual evidence shows that Lebanon made an unprovoked attack on Israel. Last time it was Hezbollah who attacked, killed IDF soldiers, captured and subsequently murdered two other IDF soldiers, then launched a barrage of missiles at Israeli civlians. This time, it was the Lebanese army, taking its orders only moments before the UN is expected to implicate Syria and Hamas in the murder of Lebanese leader Hariri. Well, everybody expected Hezbollah and/or Syria to do something violent to try and divert attention from the murder charges. Will anything be served by wiping out the Lebanese army unit that staged this unprovoked ambush and murdered an IDF soldier? I think Bibi and his security cabinet should review the retaliatory measures the IDF takes. From the tv pictures we saw they knocked out an APC, but left other APCs parked beside it alone. Next time, the IDF should make sure the entire Lebanese unit responsible for such an attack is destroyed. The Lebanese obviously have short memories and forget the destruction Hezbollah brought on their heads in 2006. They have said they are not interested in peace with Israel. We should make sure they understand that war is not a viable option.
9. Israel always on the ROUTINE on others territories
observer   (08.03.10)
On Saturday, October 12, 1967, the Eilat, on ROUTINE patrol, was ambushed by Egyptian missile boats. The day before the destroyer left port, Shoshan was told by the deputy commander of the navy, Avraham Botzer, that according to intelligence reports the Egyptians had discovered the patrols and knew about the presence of the Israeli destroyer "under their noses" at THEIR TERRITORIAL WATERS.
10. IRAN NEEDS A WAR IN THIS REGION -
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (08.03.10)
-TO AWERT ATTENTION FROM THEMSLVES. THEY PLAN SMALL PROVOCATIONS TO GET A BIGGER RESPONSE FROM ISRAEL, SO THEY CAN BLAME ISRAEL FOR STARTING A WAR. MORE INCIDENTS WILL COME. TALKBACKER NR 2 HAS A POINT HERE. Arn.
11. Israel is powerless to do anything.
Alan ,   Canada   (08.03.10)
I see that Israel has gone crying to the UN, just as well as that’s all it can do. Israel will not dare attack Lebanon coz it knows that Hisbollah will rain rockets down on Israeli cities. If Israel has any sense it will back down and lick its wounds.
12. #9 - you needed to go back 43 years to prove a point?
William ,   Israel   (08.03.10)
Seems pretty pointless in the end.
13. Where is the UN Tribunal on this clear crime?
J K ,   NYC, USA   (08.03.10)
Violation of 1701 clearly. Convene the kangaroo court and rake Lebanon over the coals for once.
14. Ball in UNIFIL court
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (08.03.10)
Since the UN has jurisdiction at this border and they have found the Lebanese Army at fault, what happens now? This incident is obviously a violation of Security Council Resolution 1701 that has cost the lives of five people and could be a precursor to war. UNIFIL forces were put in place to deal with these kinds of incidents. At minimum, Israel needs to keep the pressure up on UNIFIL to determine the reason for the ambush. If it was the work of renegades then the Lebanese authorities should deal with them. If the order to shoot was issued by the Lebanese military chain of command then UNIFIL must order some sort of sanction against their military. If UNIFIL cannot enforce Resolution 1701 then they should pack up and leave now because they will end up caught in the crossfire when the real shooting starts.
15. as if anyone believes anything the IDF claims, who in UN?BAH
ezra   (08.03.10)
16. To all of you Israelis:
Wildmandxb ,   M.E./Canada   (08.03.10)
The message is clear now, i hope! You touch an inch of Lebanese soil, you will get your ass wipped! Very simple, stay out of Lebanon, stay on your turf , no one will shoot at you. Hassan nasralla mentioned today that this is the last time Hizbulla will watch what is going on, next time it will be serious. You might not believe him, you might laugh at him, however, i see that this is the only arab personality israelis take seriously!
17. Deceit tactic
Ardel ,   Paris-France   (08.04.10)
All the thing is only avbout Hezbollah wanting to creat e a incident to hid e the findings of the UN tribunal charging Hezb goons for the murders of Rafic Hariri. Typical Shiite dissimulation tactic. Works only with poor minde dpeople. But this time they are caught pants down..
18. Wow much hyperventing!
David P ,   Boston US   (08.03.10)
Everyone here is so riled up about nothing! So you had a minor fire fight BIG DEAL! It is not like Lebanon attacked a Israeli ship and killed nine people.Shake hands and make up already because neither Israel or Lebanon can afford a war. Anyway the US will not let Israel attack Lebanon over such a small thing like a border skirmish.
19. #7
dani   (08.04.10)
the tree was not on 'their side'. fence is built INSIDE and not ALONG the israeli border, and the border extended for a few hundred meters BEYOND the fence. there is an area between the fence and the border, and this is where the tree was. the tree was removed for a very good reason - it could serve as cover for somebody hiding to pull another snatch attack like happened in 2006. perhaps the lebanese soldiers did not understand where the border was, but the whole activity was coordinated with UNIFIL. the most recent press reports are that a lebanese company commander initiated this probably for his own reasons. the facts are that the tree was in the israeli side.
20. Hit Hezbollahtan immediately
Brod ,   USA   (08.03.10)
Israel should hit Hezbollahtan immediately for attacking Israel. There is NO need for hollow warnings and threats. No country in the world will tolerate the aggressions of Hezbollahtan and Hamastan. It is time to act and defeat the enemies and let the historic people of Lebanon and Gaza take over their countries from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers.
21. To 9 Your faux 'history' is completely irrelevant here
The Dude   (08.04.10)
It's clear from the map, the pictures, the motive, and even UNIFIL! EVEN UNIFIL have clearly shown and stated that Israel was within it's borders. The LAF had no right for it's actions and it was a very clear declaration and act of war!
22. #18 YOU HAVE A GOOD POINT
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (08.04.10)
What happened today was a border skirmish ,and I hope both sides cool it ,the weather is absolutely sweltering hot and makes peoples tempers flare .Israel and Lebanon cannot really afford a war and I hope it doesn't happen .
23. To #21, The BLIND Dude!
Harry ,   Kansas   (08.04.10)
"It's clear from the map, the pictures," ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! OPEN YOUR EYES WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES! Have another look at the picture blindy. Can't you see an IDF soldier in a cherry picker suspended over lebanese territory??
24. Wildman #16
Justin ,   Canada   (08.04.10)
You're another idiot with a swelled head and no grip on reality. Get real buddy. You're still high on your fake "Divine Victory" that everyone knows is a sham. I hope things don't escalate because that means more destruction for Lebanon! Not Israel. What planet are you on? Save the tough talk.
25. The video where show the UNIFIL where is it?
Israel Wake UP !!!!! ,   David   (08.04.10)
There's a video that shows a UNIFIL soldier, "supervising" the hole operation with a White Flag, pleaseeeeeeee IDF post that video on you tube to counter measure all the media against us! PR NOW!!
26. Both sides of fence is Israeli territory
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (08.04.10)
The fence is not build along the border, but inside Israel, so maintenance work can be made without entering Lebanon.
27. nasrallah come out of your cave coward.
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (08.04.10)
# 16 The next Lebanon War I guarantee when it takes place Beirut and possibly Damascus will be destroyed. You are a foolish man if you think for one minute that Hezbollah can stand up to the full might of the IDF. If Israel takes off the gloves I guarantee you will see the world begging for a ceasefire. I have a question if Nasrallah is so powerful why is he in hiding? Is it because he is a deadman walking? By the way how could you live in Canada and support a terrorist group that your own Canadian government recognizes as a terrorist entity. I think you should check yourself before you wreck yourself.
28. Don't believe a single word unless its coming from UNIFIL
According to IDF?   (08.04.10)
spokeperson.
29. 13 jk - not so clear. since when israel
stephy   (08.04.10)
is authorized to do gardening projects on lebanon soil?
30. Where is the UN's demand for a full investigation into this
Harry Wright ,   UK   (08.04.10)
ambush. Four people died, just like 8 people died in the flotilla incident. Ambush is the name of the game now.
