31. This story is just so lame.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (08.04.10)
If this is how Israel is disseminating its information, no wonder Israel is loosing ground.
32. too fast
Leo   (08.04.10)
I'm wondering how all of you can be that sure that Lebanon is the bad guy in this story. Carefull with your beliefes. We are in the real world, not in some star wars movies, the good against the bad.
33. Lawrence #22
David P ,   Boston US   (08.04.10)
Thanks for agreeing, there is way to many people here crying for blood and revenge, in the end common sense will prevail, Israel learnt a hard lesson from the last war with Lebanon and will not be in a hurry to attack again and face the embarrassment of not been able to defeat Hizbollah, also Obama will never give a green light to Israel over such a minor skirmish so I think we can sleep easy that this is yesterdays news and Israel will sit on its hands.
34. Israel Should Make A Big Schtink In The Media About This!
Jethro ,   Marquette, MI   (08.04.10)
Why won't Israel take advantage of the media like all the arab nations around Israel? This should be a huge story. Come On. Arabs Lying to the press AGAIN? Arabs lie to the press all the time, but it never seems to make the headlines. When Israel builds a house somewhere, it is front page news.
35. WHY DID THE LEBANESE HAVE A REPORTER WITH THEM ?
rachel ,   usa   (08.04.10)
THEY WERE PLANNING SOME FAUXTOGRAPHY I ASSUME .
36. Hizbollah is being accused of killing Hariri. needs a war to
hide this crime!   (08.04.10)
37. #19 - Lebanese were aware of UNIFIL involvement
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
It was reported they declined the request by Israel for the routine maintenance under UNIFIL. Nevermind that the LAF has no right to tell Israel what to do insider her own borders.... but this is clearly a pre-planned ambush. For past offenses on both sides, the other side usually called in the UN and complained. UNIFIL brokered deals, and the cases were closed. Having a journalist with them is clear of their intent.
38. #18 - did you miss the attack by Turks on the flotilla?
William ,   Israel   (08.04.10)
or are you comfortable with knowing just the end result? Turks initiated the attack when 6 other boats submitted peacefully and the incident was over. You must be in Cambridge. They tend to have the more retarded-sounded rhetoric than Boston does.
39. If Israel don't want to get shot not approach fence
lydia ,   Brisbane   (08.04.10)
IOF shoots unarmed farmers who stray into Israel designated military zone. Lebanese can use the same classification. Anything near the fence least of all on the wrong side of the fence will be shot.
40. #23 "Harry," the fence is on Israeli territory.
#23 Harry   (08.04.10)
Israeli territory extends beyond the fence, Ahmed. But, then, you already knew that, didn't you, Ahmed.
41. The Isreal of 2010 is a far cry from the one of 67
Al   (08.04.10)
PC thought and being a lapdog of America has rendered Israel a wounded sheep ready for the slaughter. The laughable hautiness of its elite along with the delusion of its masses in their endless consumption has made Israel a weak spoiled society. The Israel of 2010 is like a spoiled wimpy child. Very sad indeed..I fear for my kids. A & E may g-d protect you, for the Israeli army in which you are soldiers surely cant. I told you boys keep your heads down and your guns greezed. Aim amd make every bullet count.
42. So the IDF says Unifil Says ...
Doug ,   Rochester, USa   (08.04.10)
Does Unifil also say this? Or is this more lies and distortion by the IDF? What did Unifil say when YNet tried to contact them for confirmation on this quote? I guess YNet either forgot to ask or decided to not wait for a response. And did Unifil also go as far as saying that Israel's reaction, including the shelling of a village and killing of a reporter were justified? If so, why did the IDF "forget" to mention this to YNet?
43. #16
Jack ,   Canada   (08.04.10)
Right! First of all, the Israeli solder was on Israeli soil when he was shot. Second as soon as the Israeli's respond with the slightest amount of force, all arab soldiers go running, change into regular cloths, and hide behind their civilian population. Then your propaganda starts.
44. # 16
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (08.04.10)
# 16, believe me, Israel is very capable of turning Lebanon into a parking lot in a very short period of time. Nasralla lives like a rat underground because he knows that when he comes up he is in danger. He is a coward.
45. Instead of wasting money on non Zionist
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.04.10)
groups in Israel. We shouyld have built tens of thousands of rocket and missiles. We should have made sure all of lebanon and syria would be hit and destroyed. We need our anti Missile shield now and not months from now. Instead of letting billions of dollars sit in the bank accounts of the government, give a few billion more to the I.D.F. Israel should also try to buy the B-1 bombers being taken out of commission by the U.S. They carry 3x the bomb load of the F-16.
46. The Fence Debate
Z ,   Jerusalem   (08.04.10)
Let's clear this up. THE FENCE IS BUILT WITHIN ISRAEL'S BOUNDARIES. No one would build a fence right at the line of their property because that would be inane. If you build to your border than you would be unable to place any equipment beyond the fence that would help in thwarting attacks or setting security. Just because a soldier is suspended over a fence does not mean that he was over the border line. Everyone who is naive enough to think that a fence is a border should never go into the defense sector of administration, ever.
47. how to bury a hot potato
yigal ,   north   (08.04.10)
The timing of this Incident was no mistake. With the Hariri Inquiry about to go public, Some need a strong diversion . What better than baiting Israel to retaliate?
48. I told you so, hamas and hizbulla don't want peace
ghostq   (08.04.10)
they r in lebanese gov, and they basically take entire country hostage involving innocent chritians in world jihad agenda, very tragic, I hope someone could help them and the Druze. after all shiias immigrated to lebanon from Sirya.
49. Why was the reporter killed?
Pernod ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.04.10)
what could he have taken pictures of? if only 2 lebanese soldiers were killed it was not a massacre, yet they shot and killed a reporter? This leaves much heavier doubt on the verisimilitude of Israel's side.
50. Fence and the border line are not the same, stupid
Mark ,   Maale Adumim, Israle   (08.04.10)
I remember may patrols over the fence when I did reservist duty on Jordanian border. Jordanian soldiers were doing the same - on their side. Why? Because the fence and the border are not the same! Is it a regular practice - to place sharpshooters on the border? A stupid pr ignorant man may think it is - an informed man will recognize a sign or preparation for attack. Gues what? Sharpshooters were on Lebanese side - as wall as a "sonvenient" reporter to document "heroic actions" of shooting from an ambush. BTW, if soldier did cross the border - why an officer behind the fence was shot? Of course, if you hate Jews and Israel, you don't think of logic.
51. #23 harry, the border is double fenced
Mellow   (08.04.10)
what u see is the first fence before the buffer zone and after the second fence well within israeli territory.
52. To 23 - Blind Harry be a little clever
The Dude   (08.04.10)
The Fence is not the border!, if you read the article. It's actually that theborder extends 60m from the fence, it's just easier to put the fence there. Also it's easier just to work on the cherry picker than destroy the fence... Think for a moment.
53. #49 your choice
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.04.10)
Let me explain slowly. The journalist was standing next to the Lebanese soldiers who were shooting an RPG rocket. An Israeli tank shot a shell killing the Lebanese soldiers and the "journalist" as collateral damage. You can either say that the "journalist" was really stupid for standing next to soldiers who were engaged in hostilities, or you can say that the Lebanese soldiers committed a war crime by using the journalist as a human shield. Your choice.
54. Nr 29, Stephy
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (08.04.10)
You still not get it ? The "gardening" works happened in Israeli territory, not in Lebanon. The fence is build about 50 to 100 meters south of the border (Blue line). The officer killed was even further south. Why are the Lebanese authorized to kill people on Israeli soil ?
55. It's one big contradiction.
lara ,   Australia   (08.04.10)
"Another officer said,...."If you don’t act – someone acts against you."" In other words, he fired the first shot.
56. Nr 42, Doug from Rochester
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (08.04.10)
YES, Unifil confirmed Israel's version. I guess Lebanese newspapers forgot to ask Unifil before accusing Israel of violation of Lebanese territory, or attacking without provocation Israeli troops carrying out maintenance works.
57. #55

the lebanese army admitted today that they fired first! hameed aboughaze, iranian
58. #57 - my mistake.
lara ,   Australia   (08.05.10)
" "The patrol did not stop despite UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) attempts to stop it, and the Lebanese army confronted the troops with gunfire and RPGs," an army statement said. "

among many and many of other mistakes you make regarding israel. at least you admit this one. you must also admit the knee jerk reactions you have to the many israeli actions without letting an investigation prove you wrong. by the way, the unifil was consulted in advance by the idf operation in that area. both the lwebanese and unifil know THAT THIS AREA WHERE IDF OPERATED IN WITHIN ISRAELI TERRITORY. THERE HAVE BEEN "GARDENING" BY IDF IN THAT TERRITORY WITHOUT ANY PROVOCATIONS IN THE PAST, LARA!!! THIS TIME, THE LEBANESE ARMY, ON ORDERS FROM NASRALLAH AND SYRIA AS WELL AS IRAN DECIDED TO HEAT UP THE BORDER CONFLICT BECAUSE BASHAR ASSAD AND HIZBULLAH HAVE BEEN IMPLICATED, ACCORDING TO THE UN INVESTIGATIVE HARRIRI TRIBUNAL, IN BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR HARIRI'S MURDER. this is why that skirmish occured. hizbullah and syria plus iran are trying to deflect attention from themselves being involved in the hariri murder. israel was within its borders rights to operate in that region away from the b lue line. that area between the barb wire and the blue line is ISRAELI TERRITORY ACCORDING TO RESOLUTION 1971, PUT IN PLACE BY THE UN AFTER THE 2006 HOSTILITIES, AGAIN WHICH WERE STARTED AND CAUSED BY HIZBULLAH AND THEY ALSO ADMITTED IT THAT IT WAS A MISTAKE TO DO SO. that area is israeli according to all international laws. period! and idf had the right to operate there and install cameras to watch hizbullah outposts deep inside the blue line in lebanon. shrubbery is a good hiding place for terrorists attempting to enter israeli sovreign territories as the hizbullah did prior to 2006. that was a lesson israelis learned well and are not willing tgo risk jewish lives. instead, they are installing cameras to watch hizbulla movements on their border....WITHIN ISRAELI TERRITORY, LARA!!!! the following day, the commander of the unifil in that area told the un that israel was within its rights and he also told the lebanese that israel was within its rights on that spot which is within israel. the unifil made a statement corraborating the idf claims, lara. i know you believe idf lies. but do you now claim that unifil lies as well? i pity you. very immature and lack of knowledge. learn to read a map with borders before you comment here. you show your cluelessness. hameed aboughaze, iranian

I guess reading is less important that spouting your drivel. Israel was not in any Lebanese terrotiroy. But do dream on. Hizbullah as just been cut loose by Syria , Iran is looking for a war to take heat off their nujkes. nasrallah is about to be charged with teh killing of the former Leb Prime minister. yes gunpowder will burn soon, and I can only hope that you have a front row seat. You sound belligerent. Lets hear you cry for your momy when the rounds are incomming over your head.
