How is this different from what has been common practice in India, Bangladesh and China for decades? It's not like they are trafficking in human hearts or livers or pancreases. If someone wishes to sell a kidney, that is entirely within their discretion. If someone wishes to purchase one, that is entirely within their discretion as well. No one is forcing anyone, and as long as the donor is paid as expected for the donated organ (which, sadly, tends NOT to be the case in Asia) and the recipient of the donated organ covers the costs of all surgeries and the surgeries are performed to standard (whatever that is in the Ukraine), I do not think it is morally different from people who voluntarily donate bone marrow or a kidney to a family member. Everyone prefers life to death. Especially those who have spent years in dialysis, waiting for a kidney to become available via traditional transplant networks. Thankfully, my kidneys are in fine working order, but I do know someone whose continued existence depends upon dialysis. It is not a particularly pleasant way to live.

The world is not outraged because Israelis are involved, they are concerned that if Israel is doing such things to free people in sovereign countries, they imagine the worst being inflicted to the tens of thousands of Palestinians left at the mercy of Israelis in Israeli jails. Oh, please, the lives of people who can pay for expensive treatments and medication, are saved or improved ALL THE TIME, as opposed to the lives of those that can't pay for it. If the donor lives in dreadfully poor circumstances in a country with no social services or safety net and can earn income only if he or she can find employment -- how is it helping their dignity if they starve to death or cannot afford to keep a roof over their head?
