1. Mosque support by Jews
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD, US   (08.09.10)
Waskow's support brings to mind the Sephardic tale of Joha, for whom the wolf found riches so he could eat and get appetizingly plump. Then, to be nice and offer peaxce, the wolf asked Joha, "Now, which part of you would you like me to eat first?" Joha's reply: "My ears, for I would not listen to the warning about the wolf!"
2. hahaha the nut ball
ghostq   (08.09.10)
nobody ever heard of him until now, jewish orthodox thinks they can get money out of supporting terrorists, oh now every one knows y there is anti semitism, this is y.
3. They never learn!
Israelit ,   Israel   (08.09.10)
Muslims piss on Americans, and Americans think it's raining. Maybe they'll put an Islamic learning center on top of the site of the next terror attack, that's sure to come. Unbelievable.
4. My apolgies!
Adrian ,   Rehovot Israel   (08.09.10)
My sincere apologies to the 9.11 victim's families. I am deeply ashamed that somebody (anybody) could support this lack of sensibility of the Muslims. Why there?? Why in spite of the majority of New Yorkers that are protesting again and again the construction. Why aren't we (at least) mind our business and not get involved? The mosque (cultural center...doohh..) is another symbol in the long line of monuments commemorating Islam's victories and a fat middle finger to everybody that can not forget the deeds of Islam. Does anybody have any doubt that they are going to preach from there the destruction of the state of Israel? Can somebody imagine building a Church or Synagogue in one of the arab countries? The politically correctness is going to cost everybody dearly. Look what happened in UK, France, Holland, Spain, Germany...a sea of minarets and sharia law on the door steps. And now USA...with the generous help of a few Jewish organizations. We are not going to be very popular for the majority (imho) of US citizens.
5. to #2 ghostq
chava ,   yerushalayim   (08.09.10)
Where is it written and what would make you assume those backing the mosque are orthodox Jews? I would assume the opposite.
6. A Proposal
pixelated dwarf ,   USA   (08.09.10)
If the Muslims would like a Mosque at ground zero let's make a trade - they always want land for peace (or so they keep telling the world). We will let them have the mosque near ground zero if we Jews can have Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. Sounds like a "fair trade" doesn't it?
7. Trying to foment a religious war...
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (08.09.10)
I am amazed at the Jewish response to freedom of relugion, Apparently it should not exist except for Jews. Should Olympia, Wahington forbid the building of a synagogue because Israelis killed Rachel Corrie? Should Annapolis have forbidden any Jewish religious building over the bombing if the USS Liberty? It is pathetic to see Jews, who have benefited from the 1st Amendment to the US Constuitution be so obtuse as to attempt to dprive others from the benefit of 'freedom of religion'. . Foxman and his ilk apparently see no problem with discrimination unless it is against their 'chosen', This irrational fear they foment for political and fundraising gain is truly abominable. Hatred of the 'other' is appparently an ongoing facet of those who hold themselves out to be 'true Jews'.
8. Before anyone jumps on the orthodox- the favorite scapegoats
m   (08.09.10)
There is no orthodox rabbi who will ever be associated with Shalom and Renewal Center of which Arthur Wascow is heading. He is a RECONSTURCTIONIST much more to the left than Reform, something like a New age religion.
9. Waskow supports dividing Jerusalem.
Menachem Ben Yakov ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (08.09.10)
He supports allowing Hamas to take part in a new government of Palestine. He supports removing 400,000 Jews from their homes in the West Bank. Waskow lives in a fools paradise ignoring Imam Raufs statements in Arabic that he does not support religious dialogue and wants Sharia Law to usurp American law in the USA. If Waskow wants to commit suicide its his own business. He should not demand the rest of us cut our own throats to keep him company.

60% of new yorkers completely are against this mosque being built. are you saying that 60% of new yorkers demonstrating against this mosque are all jews??? my friend, it is mostly christians that are against this mosque, not jews. it is mostly christians that you saw on n.y. streets with plackards demonstrating against this mosque. i am a muslim myself and i say with conviction that this mosque should not be built because it does insult the memory of 3,000 dead people that islamists destroyed and murdered and burned. people have to be sensitive to this and by building this mosque on this ground zero area, the muslim in america are rubbing the death of all these people in their faces. this is insensitive and shameful and i, as a muslim, can understand their deep feelings in this case. hameed aboughaze, iranian
11. Mosques on Har HaBayit
A Jew in Galut ,   Brooklyn, NY   (08.10.10)
We should be discussing whether there should be mosques on Har Habayit. USA is a great country for religious freedoms, and the Islamic peoples are free to practice their religious beliefs here, even if one of them is to kill all non-believers of their faith. This is a wakeup call to all of us Jews not yet living in Israel to make aliyah NOW.
12. Gee, why don't they just put 2 giant mosques on...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.10.10)
top of ground zero and call it a day. For shame :^( How could any self respecting American citizen, politician or soldier allow such a thing to happen? Life has become too cheap I guess.
13. to #2 true, very true, some people got no
ghostq   (08.10.10)
respect for the dead, only when it comes to money they r willing to riot and pretend it is judted (like the graves in Joffa) these people got no morals at all, to taint memory of victims just to establish institut that encorage trrorism and wants to comemorate the murder. makes any normal person with morals to thow up.
14. Why not interdenominational?
Martin ,   Johannesburg, SA   (08.10.10)
The majority of the victims were xtian and jewish. I do not understand why their families have to be subjected to this "slap in the face". What on earth did islam do to merit a place of worship on a site where the majority of victims were nor muslim. Why would these muslims not suggest an interdenominational centre that would promote respect for all the victim's religions. Oh! I forgot - islam is the only true religion and all the others must be destroyed.
15. No Mosque Near Ground Zero, NYC
Christy ,   Boston, US   (08.10.10)
Quote" ...said opponents... are perpetuating misunderstandings about Islam." How does NOT having a mosque on a sacred graveyard lead to misunderstandings about Islam? Its the Fanatical Muslim terrorism taking place around the globe that that's the problem - not the absence of a mosque at Ground Zero. The $100 million would be better spent helping the non-Muslim victims in Darfur. Shoving such a mosque down people's throats shows insensitivity, at best, to people who view Ground Zero as a place to remember thousands of innocent civilians killed in a terrorist attack. Quote"Whenever there has been bloodshed allegedly in the name of one tradition or another, it's necessary to say, 'That's not what that tradition is about....'" How about clearing up all misconceptions another way? A mosque built near Ground Zero will just be a constant reminder - in a bad way - that the 9/11 Terrorists were Muslim. How is it hatred or intolerance not to want a mosque there? I think placing a mosque there shows hatred and intolerance by those who insist on having one.
16. No Mosque on This Site
Ron ,   OC, USA   (08.10.10)
I am a Jew and nobody asked me about a mosque at ground zero. The Jewish left may have volume but they do not have support-God I hope not. Only the surviving famalies of 9/11 should decide this, nobody else. A mosque at 9/11 sickens me to no end, even Germany is closing a mosque with 9/11 connections.
17. giant mosque at dolphinarium disco
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (08.10.10)
proclaiming peace, and all huggy. and there's not one cynic, or a back-bone anywhere. you'll be telling me next they want to build mosques upon the ruins of the jewish temple! (proclaiming peace and all huggy).
18. We too have crazy idiots within us!
Daniel ,   Israel   (08.10.10)
19. jews are still some of Obamas biggest supporters
zionist forever   (08.10.10)
So the fact they support the construction of a mosque on Ground Zero is quite understandable. Jews are some of the most liberals in America and many are more concerned about the palestinian cause. Ground Zero means nothing to the liberal American jews, some of them probably even see a mosque as some kind of peace making gesture.
20. 'jewish activists'support mosque
moron ,   galut   (08.10.10)
the usual suspects--pro plo,anti-war,pro-gay, etc etc..progressives who dont care at all for anything but their own belief in covet
21. "Ground Zero Mosque"
GUH   (08.11.10)
That's a misnomer. The mosque is two blocks away, not on top of the WTC, and all they're doing is replacing a run-down, worthless factory into a building that INCLUDES a mosque. I see nothing but bigotry, misleading information, and sensationalizing from the usual suspects.

23. Like ELiyahu?
Josh   (08.11.10)
Eliyahu apparently did not know paganism is not to be allowed. Even fixed their alters and sacraficed in a place G-d did not choose. Jews rallying behind a religion that promotes an eternally living man who resides in heaven is doing nothing more than acknowleging a man-god. Asur!
24. Jewish Activist Would Protest a Shul
Avi ,   Miami, USA   (08.11.10)
These same Jewish activists would be the first to work against an Orthodox Shul at the site. How ironic.
25. mosque near ground zero
Alan ,   Chicago   (08.12.10)
No one but Muslims can even enter Mecca or Medina, but opposing a Mosque near Ground Zero shows hatred and intolerance. Please tell me what I'm missing. When did the world begin to see things upside down?
26. Are we Tolerant?
Jason Carstens ,   Riverside, CA, USA   (08.17.10)
For a faith that is SUPPOSED to teach tolerance, and even have a Museum erected on the subject, I am disappointed to hear fellow Jews bash the proposed ground zero Mosque. American Muslims living in post 9/11 America face similar bigotry that our people faces in pre-WW2 Europe.
