Howard Berman is a smart and very aware representative who keeps the American people informed at every turn, does what he says and thinks long and hard before doing it. He's a true representative and a great friend of Israel. Berman Rocks!!!!

Congress is in Recess for August, except for one bill that may pass the House, but will go nowhere in the Senate. Berman is playing at being President. But he is not eeven a Senator and cannot put a hold on anything for any prolonged period. The committee can override him and Obama can easily just attach the spending to the aid-to-Israel bill and stymie him, if he chooses. Congress-critters do this now and again from both parties to show their home towns how they stood up for them. Wait until October or September to see how this holds.

Hillary will win this if Obama thinks it's a good idea. Berman & the others are just grandstanding for the home district and to raise campaign money. All incumbents are fighting for their political lives, even inside their own parties.

Obama won't do anything until after the elections. He does not want to look bad by transferring weapons to the people who murdered 241 US marines. After the elections, Obama will make sure the weapons get to Hezbolla.

Clearly you have no knowledge of how the Congress works. Any objection to an aid bill automatically tables the bill for full debate in the Senate. The only exception is Israel, by statute. Got a problem with that? Too bad. It wasn't Israel that blew up the United States Embassy in Beirut; it wasn't Israel that blew up the United States Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut; and it wasn't Israel that took James Buckley (head of CIA station in Beirut, tortured and then executed him. So you think we should be giving aid to Lebanon. Are you a member of Hizbollah by chance? You sure do sound like one.

This isn't about ancient History. The Reagan Admin is ancient history, over a generation ago. I have a daughter who is a naval officer. Even she views stuff before she was born as ancient history. The Reagan generation is old and dying off. This will be handled as part of the regular course of appropriations for the fiscal year. There will be debate in the Senate and all Republicans will vote no, because foreign aid is evil. A few Dems will join in with the no vote and then a deal will be cut, based on who is buying which Senator. This is an annual event.

The Americans used to feed arms to Sadam and then get Israel to feed American arms to Iran to keep a senseless war going on. Israel was happy to schlepp for the merchants of war.
