1. someone must have spiked his water
Danny ,   Raanana   (08.10.10)
with testosterone. Ehud Barach finally grew a set and did not run away
2. "meant to embarrass Israel"
Marwan ,   Amman, Jordan   (08.10.10)
so you kill those who try to embarrass you instead of simply exposing them?! and you wonder why the entire world hates you.
3. Overwhelming strength
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (08.10.10)
B"H Israel is the only country in the world where a defense minister would send elite troops into battle equipped with toy paintball guns, excepts responsibility for this crazy decision and stays in power: This just shows how overwhelming is the strength of the United National Suicide Party in Israel's knesset.
4. you mean : I'm Loser
Jalal ,   Gaza   (08.10.10)
5. Re 2 (Marwan)
OG ,   Ra'anana/Philly   (08.10.10)
Marwan, expose them to who? For some reason I don't think you would believe much that comes out of Israel. For example, you say "so you kill them," when any rationale person who has viewed footage from aboard the Mavi Marmara would know the Turkish lives were only lost because the brave IDF soldiers had to defend themselves from a violent and blood-thirsty mob.
6. Far removed from anything Jewish
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (08.10.10)
B”H - Click on Barak’s photo and see the man as he gives an instinctive thumb up gesture to the American representative. Now, this is a gesture made famous by the Roman Emperors, responsible for the destruction of the Jewish kingdom and Jerusalem’s Second Jewish Temple in our history and decided the fate of their many Jewish slaves led to Rome in chains, “death marches” in 70 e.v. One cannot even imagine a more anti-Jewish gesture than this one exhibited by the defense minister with a big smile on his face and it shows just how removed Barak and the State of Israel are from anything Jewish.
7. Why you should feel ashamed ?!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.10.10)
Because your defense minister, sees a flotilla carrying aid & unarmed civilians threatening "Israel's" existence !!!
8. Farce
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.10.10)
This committee is a total farce, since it is not allowed to determine responsibility and accountability. I cannot understand why the media give it so much attention.
9. Marwan
TAHRIR QUDS ALYAHUDI   (08.10.10)
The whole world hates Israel because OUT OF JEALOUSY.THEY ENVY ISRAEL. ISRAEL WAS DESERT,AND OUT OF DESERT IT TURNED TO BE PARADISE No one can beat JEWISH BRAIN.
10. Barak said
Ilana ,   London, UK   (08.10.10)
"The siege is necessary to stop Gaza from turning into a giant weapons store to be used against the citizens of the State" How does preventing food and medical supplies from entering Gaza achieve this goal? How does banning clothes, shoes and school supplies keep the citizens of Israel safe? If Hamas is using the tunnels connected to Egypt to get its rockets and cement why refuse to allow children's crayons and colouring books into Gaza?
12. I can't read about Barak anymore.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.10.10)
Just nauseating, why should I be reminded what a complete jerk & incompetent we have as a DM? Sometimes, you make allowances for our rather crappy politicians, mediocrity is all our dysfunctional system can produce. But Ehud Barak? That's already ridiculous.
13. Tearing themselves apart...
Mike ,   Germany   (08.10.10)
With all this fighting, who needs the Arabs?
14. #10 all that is done in Ashdod
Golan ,   modiin   (08.10.10)
and the stuff you mentioned is and was allowed in. But the inspection for stuff entering Hamas controlled Gaza is done through Egypt or through Israel.
15. Marwan @2
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (08.10.10)
Marwan, it is not true that the entire world hates Israel. It is truer that almost the entire Muslim world hates Israel. Those of us that think with rational minds and are interested in the truth do not hate Israel.
16. Bibi's biggest mistake
MC   (08.10.10)
Bibi's biggest mistake was keeping Ehud Barak in this position It's essential that there is someone who is responsible and accountable in this ministry and Ehud Barak is neither. Bibi needs to replace him without delay before he does any further damage.
17. very brave coward
(08.10.10)
18. the probing committee = big JOKE
(08.10.10)
19. why not probe
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (08.10.10)
the real responsible of this flotilla? why not probe Erdogan and his government ? They sent terrorists shouting jihad, shouting death or Gaza, who wanted to die as shahids. They were shouting "Khaybar Khaybar the jews, the army of muhammad will return", Muhammad massacred the tribe of Khaybar (jews) in one day, killing 900 jews that day. Whoever says that they were peace activists, well either he doesn't know what peace means or he's blind. Unfortunately we live in a world thirsty for the oil money, in a world in which the aggressor becomes the victim and in a world where the truth becomes the myth, in a world where the enemies are being appeased and the friends are being neglected.
20. paintballs and violence
alexi   (08.10.10)
why barak has to go. I n such operaitons, yoiu have to cover the worst case scenario which is violence and death. He did not as minister of defense no less. Also, he refuses to say whether it was he or someone else who decided on paintball guns leaving idf soldiers at huge risk to themselves from the arafat turkish hezbollah operatives. My bet is that it was barak's idea. so far it did not come out. Ashkenazi will be asked who suggested paintball guns which enabled the turkish mob. He will more than likely say it was barak. let us see. Kadima has no leg to stand on when they were led by their rotten coward olmert who carried livni around like a dumb dora while idf soldiers were being mowed down by hezbollah.
21. no 18
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (08.10.10)
Good for Ehud as he is taking responsiblity ,in his capacity as defence minister ,for the closing down of any future Islamic attempts at flotilla aid fantasies ,instead these Islamic aid flotillas can go to Karachi to help the Muslim peasants who are drowning in their own mess ,inshallah?
22. Salma, Marwan, Jalal - a bit unfair don't you think
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (08.10.10)
Hamas are not a bunch of Angels. Don't they control Gaza by terror? how quickly you have forgotten how they murdered, yes murdered many of Abbas men, some thrown off roof tops. Egypt hates them, Abbas hates them, Jordan hates them. The gulf states hate them. Who loves them? Syria , Iran and Hezbollah. Doesn't that tell you something. Just think about it. I am sure many in Gaza suffer, but is it Israel or Hamas who are the real problem.
23. Probe will state the obvious
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (08.10.10)
Not much will be resolved by this probe. At most they will state the obvious. • The naval blockade is legal • Gaza was not in crisis • Flotilla goal was to provoke for PR purposes • IHH behavior was violent and irresponsible It would be much more interesting to see where the UN probe comes down on this matter. If the UN does not find that the IHH and Turkey had dubious motives in light of all the evidence, it will be the UN that suffers a further loss of credibility.
24. #4 chance for peace
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.10.10)
Finally Israelis and Arabs agree. Barak is a loser. There is a chance for peace.
25. #10
SS ,   Australia   (08.10.10)
Are you daft? Israel said they would allow goods through Askelon Port as long as cargo could be inspected. You must have short memory if you don't remeber ship with weapons from Iran was intercepted by Israeli navy. BTW 2000 truckloads of goods from Israel go through to Gaza each day through the right channel. Their new shopping mall looks well stocked.
26. #23 - Really?
KO US ,   Chicago Illinois   (08.11.10)
The blockade is legal, despite it being in clear violation of Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention banning collective punishment? Or the UNRWA and International Red Cross calling the humanitarian crisis in Gaza the worst on the planet, worse even than Africa? Or the fact that all of the ships on the flotilla were loaded under the authority and monitoring of the Turkish Government - a military ally to Israel? IHH behavior violent and "irresponsible" - really? You see an "elite" squad of commandos approaching in the dead of night - firing live ammo at the ships (the world watched this unfurl live via webcam, the Israeli doctored videos won't cut it) before boarding from a helicopter, armed not with paintball guns but REAL guns - if you saw this, would you invite them in for tea and crumpets in the dead of night? The aid workers on those ships defended themselves from an illegal, unnecessary, and excessive show of force from the IDF. Shooting an unarmed 19 year old four times in the head and once in the chest...yeah, that's some real restraint. That's really "necessary." Savages.
