1. a big dissapointment
ronen ,   israel   (08.10.10)
seems like those lebanese that were our friends are an insubstantial minority now
2. Not enough
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.10.10)
It should be a 4000% increase in the response. Deterrence only works when it is universally applied and on a massive scale. As long as the puppet state of Lebanon exists this threat will not go away.
3. irony is lost in the one track
roli ,   miami beach, USA   (08.10.10)
mind of a war speculator. The fact is, a non-belligerent soldier was murdered indiscriminately by a Lebanese reporter and soldiers in order to fabricate a media event. After the fact, one might notice that both the fallen Israeli and the Lebanese PM share the same surname. These are the cold facts. It's time for all the people who live in the Levant to understand that they have been thrown into a ring, like dogs to fight and maim each other by one disinterested party after another. Israel and Lebanon should be sharing a baseball league, not fighting over a tree stuck in a fence.
4. countdown to confrontation
reality check ,   zion   (08.10.10)
there should be no illusion that war is coming and probably sooner than later. All the factors are linign up. Lebanon has been radicalized by hezbollah and is ready to explode, thanks in part to turkey drumming up the incitment. Iran is increasing desparate to confront the west and change the debte on sanctions to military confrontation. what better place than in Israel. hamas has hunkered down and is fortifing itsself because they kinwo the big one is coming. It is about time Israel drew a linein the sand and let lebanon know tha tis is periously close to a large scale confrontation. One more incdent like this and it will set off in a chani of events that lead to the big one. Lebanon, syria, iran and hamas against Israel. This time Israel will finish the job even at great eprsonal expense.
5. When there is Hezbollah, who needs Lebanese army ?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.10.10)
6. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH HEZBUL'S ARMY
stude ham   (08.10.10)
there is no longer any lebanon... it has been wiped out of history by the hezbuls.
7. Hizbullah/LAF - two faces of a dangerous foe
sally   (08.10.10)
Hizbullah has already made clear that even if Israel withdraws from all disputed areas along the Lebanese border, it would not halt its fight against Israel seeking to liberate all of the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. HIZBULLAH IN LEBANON IS NOT PROTECTING LEBANON AGAINST ISRAEL THAT IS EAGER TO CONCLUDE A PEACE TREATY WITH THAT COUNTRY but protecting its own self interest which is to stay in business. The fact that Hizbullah is speaking in such terms is the latest example that Iran’s domineering authority in Lebanon is increasing and in the aftermath of the Second Lebanon War, Hizbullah has become emboldened. 8. Why only "4 times more severely....."?
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.10.10)
Why not a hundred times and then some ? It is pathetric how weak we are in dealing with our enemies
9. #5 - it's called legitimacy, and Hizbullah not legitimate
William ,   Israel   (08.10.10)
They are a rogue terrorist organization operating in parallel to an actual govt, not different than any rebel group in Africa trying to carve out a State for themselves. The LAF *may* have been trustworthy in the past but considering its growing ties with Hizbullah and the retarded rhetoric coming from the Lebanese govt, it's obvious what the LAF is today... It's used as cover. It was used as a "trusted" face of Lebanon while Syria, Hizbullah moved the puppet strings. Just another case of Arab deceit, Salma.
10. lebanon as an independent country ceased to exist yrs ago.
ralph   (08.10.10)
11. #4 when war will start
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.10.10)
War will start, just like the flotilla incident happened, when Iran needs to divert Obama's attention. Israel can't initiate a war because its leaders, are scared of losing their visa to England (Livni), trips to Washington (Barak) or dinner with Biden (Netanyahu) or worse, being shunned by holocaust denier Abbas. Iran doesn't really care what happens in Lebanon or Israel. They have a bigger fish, called Obama, to fry.
12. #5SALMA OF NO-STATE, WHO NEEDS LAF?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne,   (08.10.10)
I'll tell you,Salma, who needs a Lebanese Army. The LEBANESE need an army to protect them from HIZBOLLAH. If they cannot do their job, then it's welcome to the new State of Hizbanon. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
13. A Straw - I Think Not
Aryeh ,   Haifa / Israel   (08.10.10)
One should not refer to the death of a soldier (an officer at that) and the wouding of another as "a straw". These were serious violations of the cease fire and should have resulted in a serious response.
14. POTENTIAL WAR FROM ROSH HASHANA THROUGH SUCCUS
Hane'elam ,   USA   (08.10.10)
POTENTIAL WAR FROM ROSH HASHANA THROUGH SUCCUS
15. #11 Too Soon
reality check ,   zion   (08.10.10)
the war in lebanon will be explosive and drag the region into conflict as syira and hamas join in ... don't be surprised to see egypt and jordan support israel
16. ouch lebanon army behaving like idf?? well i never
(08.10.10)
17. Who Really Is The lebanese Army
Brazen   (08.10.10)
