This report by an Arab media source is suspect. I do believe that Clinton and Obama want to discourage Israel from any acts of self-defense. However, I doubt if the IDF was planning a full-scale ground operation. It is a shame that Israel didn't bomb Lebanon's oil facilities.

I believe Barak does not want to initiate a war with Lebanon because he's still trying to sell his 2000 withdraw. He still states it was the right thing to do - despite bringing more terrorist action closer to home, at the same time claiming Israel must enter peace talks with these people in order to reduce "global pressure on Israel", and he still claims the LAF attack was not pre-planned, despite their own testimony and having journalists in attendance.
