2. IDF
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (08.11.10)
The problem is that the IDF is not supposed to be used against citizens for political reasons. The Haartez staff is normally trying to bother so to create material. So, please, don't bully Jewish citizens and stop believing press is an above all!
3. he's not a reporter, he's a lefty propagandist
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.11.10)
haaretz needs to get its act together and start being responsible journalists instead of advocating their lefty agenda. then people will care.
4. Althouh I Take Vicarious Pleasure....
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (08.11.10)
...in seeing Haaretz reporter beaten up, that's really dumb
5. I see something a little different
Golani ,   Mi Ami, Israel   (08.11.10)
I see the journalist grabbing the IDF soldier. In the US that would be cause for arrest.
6. Smart reporters would use covert cameras and not get hit.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.11.10)

RadarMan   (08.11.10)
would have punched him in the face!
9. Haaretz
frank ,   Israel   (08.11.10)
you seem to suggest that this is a bad thing. Why shouln't leftist also have to answer to the laws. Just because they claim to be gathering information, does not mean they are entitled to special consideration. If he was wrong, or in the wrong place or was up in their faces, then he should be slapped just like any other bratty child. The fact that he works as a propagandist (not a reporter as a reporter reports in a non-biased way and they simply do not exist), so he was gathering information to use as the publishers want rather than what may be the facts. Leftist truth is certainly different from facts.....I say slap the snot out of him and let him consider that possibly he should be reporting in a non-bias way rather than taking sides. When he does that, I would venture to say he won't have problems......but meanwhile, slap him as the bratty nasty child he is....
10. big deal...
courtney ,   usa   (08.11.10)
in most countries, when the authorities tell you to back up and you dont, you get arrested/roughed up... and rightly so...
11. At last some radical Leftists felt it on their backs
Shalom   (08.11.10)
what IDF soldiers are doing to their Jewish brothers instead of protecting Jews from their enemies. Perhaps the Leftists will finally learn the reason religious Jews do not join this corrupt immoral inhuman insane cruel army.
12. Haaretz 'Journalists' act "Improperly" too
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (08.11.10)
everyone is capable of it from time to time
13. I don't believe a word of it
blash ,   Jerusalem   (08.11.10)
I don't believe a word of the Haaretz journalist's account. Haaretz has ZERO reputation these days - they're a Leftist rag that spends its content on articles that delegitimize the actions of the State. I somehow find it highly unlikely that everything goes according to the account of the reporter and the video. There is a cut in the video right before the soldiers "attack" the reporter and later in the video it shows the reporter being violent. Even if the reporter did not physically get in the way of the reporters, if he is verbally instigating against the soldiers while they are doing their duty then he IS interfering and the soldiers DO have a right to shut him down. You are not seeing the whole story here!
14. Haaretz does not employ journalists
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS   (08.11.10)
They employ Islamist propagandists and provocateurs such as Levinson, Levy, and Hass. It comes from the "news" paper's origins as a Nazi propaganda piece in Germany
15. I Must Admit...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.11.10)
That to some degree, I'm glad to see a Haaertz reporter get taken down. Of course you can't have true freedom of the press if they are stopped from doing their job. At most it is some mild what we would call "police brutality" here in the U.S.. But even here the press must follow the direction of law enforcement. The "take down" I saw was not very aggressive though. Heck, just turn on any police reality show here in the U.S., they throw the guy down face first, put a knee or three, into his back and cuff him. This guy was basically knocked a little backwards and landed on his butt, then got up and argued with the IDF. BOTTOM LINE; Not great for the IDF, but most people feel Haaretz is bias against Israel so they will laugh about it. Sorry, but that's the poop!!
16. "IDF troops beat up Haaretz reporter" - I am not sure, but
leo ,   usa   (08.11.10)
I think its more of a good news rather than of bad.
17. headline is incorrect
ben Ish   (08.11.10)
Not a reporter, but a propagandist who deliberately instigated a confrontation for the purpose of filming it, editing it, and then using it to continue pushing the Haaretz policy of de-legitimization against Israel. Headline should read "IDF puts propaganda terrorist where he belongs - in the dirt." Don't get me wrong, I think the soldiers should be disciplined - for being too kind and tolerant.
18. They thought he was a religious Jew
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.11.10)
What a pitiful state of affairs that Israel eats her own and capitulates to the Islamic hordes to please their false god America Babylon
19. #18;Marcel, if you think the U.S. is so bad...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.11.10)
Why do you stay here? Go back to wherever you come from, since Babylon doesn't seem to suit you. Or is it your making plenty of money at the flea markets on Sample Road in Ft. Lauderdale Fla, .BTW I don't agree Israel "capitulates" to the U.S., although our cultures certainly have more in common than the "Islamic hordes" as you put it.
20. Head Line

21. Haartez is anti jewish full of self hate hate

22. Ha'aretz and the IDF
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (08.11.10)
I saw the video - and what we have is HaAretz determined to get footage of the IDF fulfilling the orders given them. Then, with some very selective and calculated editing, they would produce a film would have the whole civilized world screaming about our brutality and criminal mindset. This would be th measure of their success. Outside the delivery of rockets, I struggle to find the difference between these 5th column leftists and Hamas.
23. COOL. GOD BLESS THE IDF
steve ,   tel aviv   (08.11.10)
Personally, I feel a lot safer knowing the IDF is protecting my Jewish ass and not some overpaid Haaretz journalist/coward. Besides, even if the journalist/coward managed to film the soldiers (real men and women) evacuating settlers, Haaretz would have ordered the journalist/coward to destroy the film himself. No?
24. Haaretz - troublemakers, spies, enemies of Israel
Avi ,   Geneva   (08.11.10)
25. strang
mk ,   germany   (08.11.10)
in russia they would kill him. Sad tat idf is training in krav maga so much punching and not wrestling. the haaretz aktivist wuld suffer for life if the guys had used wrestling submssion technics of krav maga. how he behaved :(
26. Why hasn't Haaretz been shut down?
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.11.10)
Can you imagine America, even under Obama, tolerating a newpaper clearly involved in a long series of scandals compromising and attacking America's security? Showing classified U.S. documents to the world? The U.S. Congress, along with the media, opposition, governing politicians and the public would demand such a paper be shut down immediately. America's constitution never intended treason to be treated as a form of free speech. Why are things so different in Israel? What hasn't Haaretz been shut down?
27. Haaretz is ENEMY clabalator and must be treated as such.
robin   (08.11.10)

Don't pay any attention to Marcel. He sounds like a lonely, miserable, old man, who's been unhappy with everything and everybody for years.
30. Haaretz is an Enemy of Israel Anyhow
iObserver and News ,   US   (08.12.10)
Who cares? Haaretz has done more damage to the reputations of Jews everywhere than even Hezbollah. They are indeed the flavor of European-psychotic liberalism and feverently undermines the stability of Israel and even the peaceful lives of Jews in the US. People in the US have a tually resorted to violence against innocent Jews in America, citing the skewed versions of the facts that haaretz provides. My Rabbi was shot at recently and two fellow congregants actually shot by an assailant who was educated by the likes of haaretz and their left- wing buddies including JStreet. These orgs have BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS as they continue to incite violence and hatred against Jews everywhere. I just hope the IDF soldiers kicked his tuchous REAL good!!!!
